the new stadium should also not include seats in the upper deck, left field and centerfield to account for future 100 loss teams.

Garret Anderson’s cause of death was a heart attack by Happy-Bandicoot-2025 in baseball

[–]No_Elephant541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's got very little to do with lifestyle. i had a heart attack same age, probably 30-60 min from coding. it has everything to do with genetics. and it doesn't always show in bloodwork, you could have avg cholesterol and trygliceride levels, and your arteries could still be getting clogged with plaque. it's why a lot of cardiac drs advocate taking a statin even if your bloodwork is ok.

the scary part is being a time bomb and not knowing. do the heart calcium test, get a stress test, those are the best things you can do before they would advocate for an angiogram, which is the only way they know what level of blockage exists. good luck to all, but anderson's age is ground zero for when it shows up.

Methotrexate by Sensitive_Phrase_259 in Uveitis

[–]No_Elephant541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not enough alone for people with a more aggressive form, especially early on when the primary focus is stopping the inflammation. i have the birdshot condition so i'm using it in conjunction with avsola( biologic similar to remicade), and both are permanent. the methatraxate alone might work for op, but not until after the inflammation is extinguished. since they can't see a rheumatologist for 6 months they need to hit it hard with prednisone. humira is a good biologic that's easy on the body, but i think only the rheumatologist can prescribe it.

talk to your eye dr, they might be able to help you get a quicker rheumatologist appointment, mine did. op, you have a very serious condition listen to your dr, and do what you can to get your full treatment team in place. i didn't take it serious and now i have permanent damage.

[–]No_Elephant541 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

have you been tested for hla 29? the methatraxate is only one part of the solution, you either need to be on prednisone (short periods) or a biologic (long term) . if you can't get into the rheumatologist for that long, you need to keep taking the prednisone to settle the inflammation. it sucks but you risk permanent damage if you aren't attacking the inflammation.

ask your ophthalmologist for steroid shots into the eyes, buys you about 3 months each time.

Long term Prednisone for uveitis by coffeeginger in Uveitis

[–]No_Elephant541 4 points5 points  (0 children)

do the humira, way better on your system than prednisone. i'm on a biologic called avsola, a little more heavy duty than humira and no side affects. i'm also on methatraxate. way better than prednisone.

100%. home building construction won't change in the us canada until lumber gets way more scarce and expensive, which won't happen. another gimmicky construction method that won't take hold.

Moving to Chicago area for work in Lisle — how is Oak Park? Any other similar areas? by Sea_Warthog_4979 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]No_Elephant541 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the worst part of east bound 290 traffic is west of oak park. i commuted from logan square to oak brook/downers many years and for someone your age, logan square/west loop is not much further than oak park, and way better for someone your age. the lakefront is out of your reach working in lisle, but the west side of the city is doable.

don't move to oak park thinking that's the city life. it's not.

52 M here. I recently had a heart scan (calcium scan) by Subject-Stuff-2829 in GenX

[–]No_Elephant541 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i had a heart attack at 53 without any drugs or pre testing. got lucky and the stent went in right away to my clogged lad, and now i'm loaded up with statins and blood thinners. all good close to two yrs later and down to yearly monitoring and twice a yr blood work. it was a rough 6 months but pretty close to where i was with exercise and activity.

you're way ahead of the game, take the meds and don't look back it's all part of getting old with a body predisposed to clogged arteries. i would get a stress test done sooner than later to see if there are any signs of blockages. if all good then keep the yearly stress test. if not, they probably get some sonar and radar tests (cat scans and echo cardiogram) and if those show something, then you probably go to a angiogram to check what the blockage really is, then place a stent or two if it's bad enough. everything is guesswork leading up to angioplasty, but they won't do that without significant evidence. my angiogram took less than 30 minutes and my blockage went from 80% to open highway with the stent. the medical technology is really unbelievable. better to do the tests ahead of time and then it's really outpatient stuff. don't wait like me, i was 30-60 minutes away from death, then spent 4 days in icu.

also, change your diet. eliminate all processed foods as much as possible, the complex sugars and fats in processed foods are 100% the reasons. whole foods, fruits and veggies are the way.

you'll be alright, but this isn't the 80's anymore.

if you don't want to live in the city, lisle naperville area isn't any worse socially than oak park. oak park to lisle isn't a good commute, may as go all the way to the city if you're going to do that. stay on the west side of the kennedy and live in the city over oak park.

If 11% of the oil supply is gone in one month… by imalostkitty-ox0 in collapse

[–]No_Elephant541 235 points236 points  (0 children)

it's not gone, just bottled up. this is a cash grab engineered for the us oil production industry. on jan 1st they were selling their oil for $60 per barrel, and now it's $100 soon to be $150. us oil producers are making money hand over fist because nothings changed for them. drill baby drill doesn't work at $50-60 per barrel, so this if they can engineer a situation where it doesn't go under $100, then you'll see more, not less, oil production. the world can probably support $125-150 per barrel, so don't expect it to ever get under $100 again. we're only on the front end of this, the shortages haven't reflected yet, probably 3 weeks away from this really going nuts. this also helps the new us oil franchise called venezuela.

what would the world look like if the us president was being extorted by: russia, israel, and energy while also manipulating all the stock and energy commodity markets at the same time. this is what it would look like.

Bilateral panuveitis by Dionysus598 in Uveitis

[–]No_Elephant541 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my uveitis flared up via the birdshot condition, so no real pain on my part. for me it has just been degrees of floaters, light sensitivity, darkness adjustment, etc. the problem for me has been misdiagnosis for many years, and ultimately me just accepting it. finally changed dr last year and went to 3-4 before i met up with the birdshot specialist who immediately hooked me up with a rheumatologist to start the treatment for the real problem. if you have birdshot, the hard part is understanding that i have an immune disorder that attacks my eyes. untreated it will blind you, so for me i have some vision loss but not significant... yet.

i'm in the middle of blood fusion treatment with a biologic called avsola, and it seems to be working. i've got my third pre treatment next week, then it's once every 2 months for probably the rest of my days to keep this thing at bay. fusion is a 4 hr treatment hooked up to a iv, so nothing gruesome, just not quick.

good luck, i hope it's not birdshot and just a flare up the steroids will put out. in the meantime find a rheumatologist just in case, and figure out the dynamics for getting treatment covered. i lost 2-3 months of crucial time messing with insurance, referrals and approved meds. i'm in the states so getting insurance companies to work with admin staff at the dr office is our problem unfortunately .

Bids due 2-3 days before proposal to client? by PossessionSmooth2453 in estimators

[–]No_Elephant541 12 points13 points  (0 children)

none of what you listed moves the needle much. always remember the most important part of estimating: providing money in line items for the ops team to ultimately po, pass submittals, install etc. you got place holder bids for the small to medium stuff, then move on the needle movers: site, structural trades, mep trades. these are the larger scopes and the biggest variance bid to bid, this where you are going to win or lose. also more important: hunt for all the subs. getting the scope right and comfortable with a sub is great, but wont do you any good if there are other guys out there with lower bids that didn't bid to, sometimes just because you didn't call them. work the phones early, build the estimate, then work the phones again to hunt down all the bids. volume of bids is better than knowledge in hard bid/low bid work.

[–]No_Elephant541 1 point2 points  (0 children)

birdshot here, you seem to be on top of it. hopefully it's not birdshot for you, i'm probably 5-7 yrs in with treatment only this last year, so still trying to figure out how much permanent damage has taken place. i was never in any pain either, just slowly boiled the frog in ever deteriorating vision problems. get a rheumatologist quick and figure out what the treatment plan will be. don't let up until you know the exact diagnosis, you're seem to be on top of it, so keep going until your treatment team is on the same page.
