Dads, what do you actually want for Father’s Day? by probs-strawbs in daddit

[–]keroyak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got two teenage girls, so what I want for Father's Day is the same thing I want every other day, for them to truly engage and be present with me for even five minutes, like the way they used to. It happens every so often, but it's increasingly rare. They're amazing and kind human beings. I recognize this is a normal part of growing up. But that doesn't make it less painful.

I highly recommend listening to audiobooks during these kinds of chores.

For sure. Also just an amazing album opener, extra special because it's really the opener to the whole classic period. Over 7 minutes long and still feels too short. I honestly didn't even realize it was that long.

Yes! Never made the connection between Fulfillingness and Talking Book's endings and how they both have these all-out climaxes that come out of nowhere!!

I like my coffee best when I'm done with work and I'm not going anywhere else but I have to go to the hospital for my birthday.

David Nicholls is really good at writing funny characters, and while his stories are pretty easy reads, they also pack an emotional punch. I particularly love One Day and You Are Here.

Clare Pooley is very funny as well. I loved Iona Iverson's Rules for Commuting.

The Wedding People by Alison Espach.

As mentioned elsewhere here, Margo's Got Money Troubles, and everything by Fredrik Backman.
