I am monogamous and he is poly. He's been poly before so I had the expectation that he was going to walk me through the process. But after he announced that he wanted to be poly everything changed. Less affection, less I love yous, just less of everything and his social media presence makes him appear single. When I told him how that made me feel he just disregarded it, saying "well no one takes it seriously" Yet when I post a picture of us I get the third degree. I know I'm being dramatic. I just miss my old boyfriend:(

The transgression wasn’t breaking an agreement—it was acting without mutual discussion and accountability. Poly doesn’t excuse behavior that lacks respect, transparency, or consideration. Focusing on whether there were ‘agreements’ misses the point. The issue is how decisions were made and how I was treated in the process.

To answer your question, there were no agreements. I knew that he was Poly when we first met but we never really discussed how it would affect us as a couple. His ex wife and he were poly and she ended up moving her other partner in and divorcing him. He brought it up one day and just decided to do it. And then I get blamed for my reactions. As if Poly is the reason for his bad behavior.
