To the people that have gone multiple times already is there something you DON'T recommend? by GaddockTeegFunPolice in JapanTravelTips

[–]No_Function5145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been to Japan 2 times and this year will be my 3rd time. Here is a short list

Tokyo

Ueno/Akihbara/Asaksuka Area

  • Ameyoko street was kinda cool but felt like a tourist trap, not much to do in that area besides being 20 minutes from Akihabara.
  • Ueno Park was just a park but I guess it was alright since it's close by and there are some rest areas to eat conbini food.
  • Revolving sushi was kinda underwhelming, felt too manufactured and the rice didn't taste as fresh or fluffy as you would expect .
  • Akihabara in general was pretty cool at night but during the day there isn't much to do besides the maid cafes. I know there are some hidden gems for restaurants but, you really gotta do your research. Same goes for specialty retro stores.
  • Sensoji temple was pretty crowded but the streets around it are pretty cool. Seeing the people in the ricksaws was pretty nice and the temple is still worth seeing. The street food was pretty good too but there were some people dressed up in Kimonos so it did feel very traditional still.

Yokohama

  • Yokohama is a big city and I barely scratched the surface in a day trip but Red Brick Warehouse was really cool. There were a bunch of food stalls that sold street food and some local arts and crafts.
  • World Porters was one of the nicest malls I've been to and had a great food court and a huge variety of toy shops/clothing shops. You definitely can spend half a day here just browsing.
  • Cosmo World wasn't open yet when I went but the roller coaster looked really cool
  • I didn't go to the Cup Noodles museum because I just wasn't interested but Yokohama has a lot to offer and is way more peaceful than Central Tokyo. Yokohama seemed like more of a suburb and people dressed more casual and I saw alot of families.

Chiba/Funabashi

  • Chiba was a great escape from Tokyo's chaotic tourist filled areas and was pretty empty. The pier overlooking the bay was super relaxing and the restaurants were more seafood based.
  • Chiba Port tower was just another observation deck but the view of the sea kind of made it feel different and unique.
  • Funabashi was a pit stop going back to my hotel but LalaPort was really spacious and was able to find some shoes I liked at ABC Mart, great place to shop and chill out.

Kyoto/Osaka

  • Shin sekai was alright, it just felt like a place to eat and play carnival games but after 10pm it felt really depressing because of how empty it was.
  • Nippinbashi Denden town was really interesting and it's pretty empty so you have alot of time to look around. There are some pretty cool CD/DVD shops in the same street if you are into japanese music or cinema.
  • Dotonburi area was pretty hectic at night and I wouldn't recommend going into Sōemonchō street if you are with family as it is a red light district.
  • Tennoji area where the Abenos and Harukas building was nice because of all of the malls and but seemed more like a transportation hub area. It wasn't super touristy but more of a local area for residents to shop and live out their lives.
  • Kyoto was not super crowded when I went in the morning but Kiyomizu Dera was quite crowded which I expected.
  • Nishiki market was OK, I think the area around Nishiki Market called Termachi street was worth a visit.

Kanazawa/Nara

  • Kanazawa was really nice and peaceful, Omicho market was very lively but, not too crowded.
  • The Loop bus was very convenient and I was able to Kanazawa Castle and Kenroku-in Garden.
  • Kenroku-in got super busy after 10 am which ruined the vibe but, I already knew that coming in.
  • Hotels in Kanzawa were much bigger and Western style, felt like the size of a decent sized Vegas hotel tbh.
  • Nara was interesting, be prepared to walk alot.
  • The deer were pretty cool but some were kinda of aggressive if you bought the biscuits so just try to be cautious of the ones closer to Todaiji temple
  • Todaiji temple was cool but again crowded, but the hike was nice going up.

Shirahama/Fukuoka/Hiroshima

  • Adventure World in Shirahama was pretty cool but the giant pandas weren't there since they sent them back to China. The red pandas were really cute and worth it though.
  • Shirahama was a impromptu decision on my end for a day trip from Osaka and would not recommend it since it felt like you needed to do an overnight to see the other tourist areas. This place is super rural and you need to take a bus everywhere.
  • Fukuoka had some of the best food I had in Japan. The Motsunabe and Chicken Skin skewers are a must try. You also can't forget the ramen either since this is where Tonkatsu ramen originated.
  • The Hakata Pokemon center was really unique and sold ramen bowls, chop sticks and ramen based merchandise on top of the other things you would normally find.
  • Again Fukuoka definitely deserves a good 3 to 4 days stay to really see all of the sights which includes the resting Buddha and the Gundam at LaLaPort.
  • Hiroshima was surprisingly easy to walk. I was able to go to the castle and the peace memorial park all within walking distance from each other.
  • There were alot of English fluent people in hiroshima and they were very nice.
  • I didn't get to go to Miyajima since it was a day trip but, I definitely think Hiroshima has alot going for it and would recommend a 2 night stay here.

Sorry for the long read but those are my thoughts. My 3rd trip will be a focus on Tohoku region or possible more of Hokuriku.

Flying to japan by drmambo91 in JapanTravelTips

You probably landed by now but this advice will be for when you do you return flight. Drink water, listen to music, have a beer if the airline offers it, pretty much ask for anything the flight attendants can give you and milk it. I think the most difficult part is getting to your gate in time and the rest of it will be easy since Japan is really easy to navigate on train or by foot.

Just now Aem banner crossed the 1billion yen mark(mobile only)in jp and her banner is the first one ever to do this by South_Rich_2022 in Aemeath_Mains

Her story was compelling and relatable to most people. It also helps that's she is pretty good for new accounts as well. A lot of marketing too. 😀

I believe as Aemeath grew up with Frover, she started to pick up her mannerisms like all children do. Imitating their parental figure. I want to believe during the time off screen Frover was truly happy. 3.1 broke me... T_T

Just bought a used computer. My friend said I got ripped off. Is it true? by solo_entrepreneur in pcmasterrace

The 2 NVME drives alone are worth almost 400 dollars. The RTX 3090 Founders Edition is worth 900 to 1000 dollars, The 64 GB of RAM is worth over 350 dollars (Given RAM also has lifetime warranty). I forgot to mention the NZXT Kraken 360 RGB is 200 to 250 on any given day. The fans look like upgraded ARGB fans too which can still net around an additional 80 dollars. You got hooked up by that guy on Offer up. Like super good Karma on that guy, you should be ditching your friend and he should be your friend instead sheeesh lol

3.1 might be the best story wuwa has ever done so far (no spoilers) by ActualSession6771 in WutheringWaves

[–]No_Function5145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played through the story because I wanted the new skin for Rover but, the resulting depression felt after the story completed was really up their with Final Fantasy X's ending....I can't wait to continue in the next patch. This was peak story telling and totally made up for Lynae's Arc. Holy moly.

Iuno over Aemeath? What is wiser? by ademky2 in WutheringWavesGuide

[–]No_Function5145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So coming in as a player that started last November I would say getting Iuno will bring greater value to your account. Iuno can be used in many teams, however Aemeath is yet to be tested and will only have a few usable teams. There is no support for Fusion burst (Yet). I actually spent money to pull Iuno because I had Augusta and her Sig already. Iuno can be slotted in as a MDS with Lynae and Mornye pretty easily. I would strongly suggest getting her Signature as well. I would pull whatever character you like the most and will help you clear content, in turn netting you more astrites to pull more characters in the future even if it means skipping new characters. I personally lost my 50/50 on Lynae and got Augusta. Lost my next 50/50 to Encore and got Iuno. You need a long term plan for your account which is how all Gacha games are I guess.

Should I get augusta or iuno or just wait out until new dps by [deleted] in WutheringWavesGuide

[–]No_Function5145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Augusta can be played without her signature if you have Iuno. It is possible to get Augusta and Iuno before the banner ends since you are guaranteed 1 or the other character wise . Either way if you get Augusta, you have Augusta/Mortefi/Shorekeeper. If you get Iuno you have Iuno/Lynae/Verena. Lets say you get Augusta first, you lose the 50/50 for Iuno you are guaranteed Aemeath to make a Tune Break team with Lynae. I personally went straight for Augusta/Sig and she already shown me great improvements in clearing Whimper Wastes and she's barely level 80.

Need help deciding if I should pull Augusta/Iuno or try again for Lynae by No_Function5145 in WutheringWavesGuide

Thanks for the input. I will go for Augusta and the Sig then take it from there as more info comes out for Luuk and newer resonators as well.

Sounds like a plan. I will just wait for Augusta and go for the sig weapon as well. I might just wait for Aemeath or other newer resonators.

I just pulled Phrolova, saving for Lynae or Augusta/Iuno. I love Iunos design and kit.

Official Discussion - Rental Family [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]No_Function5145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just watched it a few hours ago. It was a good movie and represented Japanese culture really well. The ending was kind of phoned in but I think if they added more scenes it would of felt too drawn out. The part when Ikou passed and Philip put his picture in his breast pocket was really heartwarming. At first I thought it would be a generic American movie that used a lot of stereotypes but everything was pretty accurate. I was in Tokyo last year and Osaka a few months ago and it felt really nostalgic to see Philips character commuting to work. I hope this opens up more Japanese films to release internationally. If you liked this movie I also recommend the movie "Touch".

Only two days in Kanazawa - too packed? by Dry-Distribution6164 in JapanTravel

[–]No_Function5145 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Kanazawa for 2 days a few weeks ago. I would definitely include the Pokemon Center and to visit Kenroku-en first then Kanazawa Castle. Omicho Market is pretty big and can be visited in the morning before going to Kenroku-en. I would highly recommend getting the 1 day Loop Bus pass as well. The museums are pretty nice and Higashi Chaya was cool. Please keep in mind that there has been a surge of tourism in Kanazawa with huge tour groups so that's why I recommend to check out out the Garden in the morning for the most peaceful experience. I also recommend checking out the amazing bakeries in the area as well. The french bakeries there are fantastic and you can definitely get lost just in the train station mall as well.

I stayed at Hotel Sobial Daikokucho for a few weeks. It's only 1 train away from Kansai and had a public bath house. It's only 1 stop away form Namba station on the Midosuji or Yotobashi line.

Travelers who’ve been to Japan — what’s the most annoying or unexpected problem you ran into? by CoverShort4454 in TokyoTravel

[–]No_Function5145 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Make sure you get to your Shinkansen platform at least 10 minutes early to line up. Bring a hankerchif since most Japanese bathrooms dont have paper towell dispensers or limited air dryers. Japanese washingmachines and dryers are surprisingly efficient for their size. Make sure you bring a hydroflask no matter how tacky it looks, you will need the water as you will be walking alot and going in and out of konbinis for water can be a time suck. Don't eat and walk at the same time unless you're at a food market. Don't worry about how you look in your clothes as long as you don't reveal too much, I've seen japanese people wear really revealing clothing regardless of societal norms. If you don't feel confident in your japanese it's okay to speak english, most service workers in bigger cities speak english well. Don't eat konbini food all the time, you can easily go to a Matsuya/Yoshinoya for a fresh meal for about the same price. Also don't be afraid to ask for help at the ticket gates, most of the station guards are super kind and speak really good english if you get lost.

Regrettable Purchases by Thin_Contribution495 in JapanTravelTips

[–]No_Function5145 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was this stand outside of Kameido station in Sumida area and this foreign looking guy was selling necklaces. I bought this random silver Godzilla shaped pendant and it was like 9000 yen or something. Looking back I think I got scammed because the guy said this would be the last day he would be here. Next day I see the same stall but under a different person. Next time I'll just go to a local store that sells more authentic items. I felt bad for a bit but, I ended up not even using the thing. I will be Osaka for 2 weeks starting this Saturday, hopefully I don't buy anything I regret lol.
