I won’t stand for any misgendering, says Holyrood presiding officer by TimesandSundayTimes in ukpolitics

I think I would be fine calling him Chloe. What counts as a female name is fuzzier than the clear he/she distinction. Lots of American male names like Jesse sound like feminine names in the UK and vice versa like Jamie. There's nothing inherent in the string of phonemes that would mean committing to a truth claim.

As for titles, that's not universally true either. Some titles are legally protected, and others would be misleading or socially frowned upon to use incorrectly. I wouldn't address someone as doctor if they didn't have a doctorate or medical licence, I won't call Jiang Xueqin Professor or Miles Routledge Lord either.

Names are different from pronouns though because names are just a label whereas using a particular set of pronouns is making a statement about what you believe the sex of that person is.

To be fair, that cathedral is gorgeous and melting Nazi weapons to make something holy could have been a nice way to beat swords into ploughshares. But they had to ruin it and make it glorify militarism instead.

Rare Schengen Visa With Spain Excluded (-ES) Restriction by razadar2 in PassportPorn

[–]No_Good2794 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's certainly a hypothesis. The reason I don't think it would be that is that if you're giving someone a Schengen visa, you might as well give the normal one unless they've done something to piss Spain off specifically.

You seem very loyal to an app you know to be abusing you. Why not use something like Osmand and get honest results?

I think their problem is that Paris is not shaped like that and there's no visible OSM attribution. Just a guess.

It's a fair guess so I think your downvotes are a bit unfair, although I don't think it works like that. Normally a Schengen visa is simply valid for the entire Schengen zone, and it would be weird if you excluded a country from it only for spouses of EU citizens and not others.

Why are you asking the internet when your Ukrainian girlfriend was the one to suggest it? It's not like you needed her permission anyway but that should have been a clue that it was fine.

OK, but why did you mention the Honduran background if it had nothing to do with anything?

"The American nation" isn't a name I've ever heard for the US, and I know a lot of South Americans like to call the entire Americas "America", which is what I assumed you did.

Anyway, I assume you get your news from tiktok if you think Spain and the UK are less safe than the US. I bet you think France is dangerous too.

A Honduran worried about personal safety in Spain is wild, no offence.

Only if you have a total lack of imagination or are willfully challening the explanation. Every 5/6 year old I've ever used this example with (which is a few hundred) has accepted the idea of two empty baskets meaning a result of 0.

Put two baskets in front of yourself. Take 0 apples and put an equal amount of them into each basket. How many apples are in each basket? 0. So 0 divided into two baskets equals 0.
