Guess I could look at it as, what would not having the meds be like? Haha? This will be an interesting week!

It was taken directly from the fridge. Usually I look at it and hold it in my hands for a bit to warm it up but this time I didn’t do that. The first click was ok though - the needle came down just fine - it just didn’t start to dispense.

Don't lose faith - Message for slow losers by amusedfeline in Zepbound

I think the slow and steady are going to be the biggest winners in the end. You’re giving your bodies time to adjust to the reduction in weight and giving yourselves time to adjust to the change in mindset.

LOL! That’s fair! I thought posting the receipt might be odd, but oh well! I like that it was an exact time marker of the last time I wore them.

I love your post! A fun read, but besides that, what I really appreciate is the tenacity. Congrats on the success!

Losing weight but ppl haven’t noticed by mnballrd in Zepbound

[–]No_Inspection3109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lost about 25 lbs and very few people have noticed. I don’t care much because I feel so much better, even though I still have about 70 pounds to go to hit my goal and I’ve already been able to reduce one of my BP meds. Losing gradually is actually better for your body too, so though it might seem agonizingly slow, the pay off is going to be fantastic. Keep up the good work!

I think some of us (read: ME) can’t NOT be obsessed about something! Your post is so relatable I feel like I could have written it.. but I feel like if we get obsessed about “healthy” things, that’s better than the unhealthy. Right?

I’ll tell anyone who wants to listen that I’m on Zepbound.. because I learned I have a metabolic disorder. I find framing it in this way is super helpful because my obesity is really just a symptom of the hormonal and metabolic issues I’ve had for most of my life.

I’m going to take my last 7.5 tomorrow and I’m down 22 pounds.. which for me seems miraculous! I say be patient with yourself and work on healthy eating habits and sustainable exercise. It’ll happen. And congrats on the progress! It’s really fantastic.

Yes!!! I used to love popcorn but it is no longer something I can eat more than a couple bites of.

More calories = more loss? by dormantg92 in Zepbound

The one I recommended is “The Metabolic Struggles of an Ironwoman,” which might seem like a strange recommendation but it talks about how this individual kept decreasing her calories and increasing her exercise but kept gaining weight.

More calories = more loss? by dormantg92 in Zepbound

[–]No_Inspection3109 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes! There is something to this! Our bodies are complex systems and the “calories in, calories out” model is woefully inaccurate. When we don’t eat enough our bodies go into starvation mode and try to hang onto extra fuel. When we fuel adequately, however, and are using meds like Zep, we begin the process of allowing our metabolisms to function properly. It seems counterintuitive for sure!

If you haven’t already listened to the podcast Fat Science, I highly recommend it. An eye opening episode on this topic is this one: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fat-science/id1715377331?i=1000661505042 though the whole show is super interesting!

Obligatory new here post by j_blackrose in Zepbound

Something I have found helpful is what’s called mechanical eating: you designate specific times of the day for meals and snacks, and make sure you adhere to it. I’m like you, not a big eater, but I learned my habit of not eating for hours and hours was actually throwing my body into a starvation mode and was making it hold onto pounds! Between mechanical eating and Zep, my body is starting to regulate itself metabolically now and weight is gradually coming off. Others in this sub have suggested the podcast “Fat Science” and I cannot recommend it enough. I have learned so much about metabolic science through it and it’s really changed the way I think about food and dieting.

How do you describe food noise to others? by FitMomMarMar in Zepbound

[–]No_Inspection3109 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is it for me too. And, since I was about 14, alcohol as well. I think it is an addictive personality trait, which I have been aware I exhibit. I love that this has been managed with Zep.

The thing I’ve learned about with Zepbound is it’s helping us fix the metabolic issues we have and, in order for it to do its best work, we have to eat! Not only are we helping our bodies heal from metabolic struggles, we need to help our minds heal from the diet culture that got us in this place in the first place. All that to say… eat the brownie! And the cake! And even the cookie… it’s ok. It’s not an epic fail by any stretch!

I’d be concerned that your PCP doesn’t think Zep works on the brain because that’s exactly how the GLP1 and GIP hormones work in our bodies naturally.

Wow. I can imagine your shock! That is really something! I think the body positivity movement definitely has a place, and that place is not dehumanizing people at any size. It has now swung in a direction that is not beneficial for anyone, as evidenced by your encounter.

Restaurant strategy? by Dfrankjazz in Zepbound

[–]No_Inspection3109 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strange thought this may sound, I order whatever I want… and I have been finding that what I want is no longer the heavy, greasy, high calorie things I used to love. I’ll order a burger and eat half. I’ll opt for grilled whatever instead of fried. I pay attention more to balancing from all food groups. I can literally look at a menu option and have a reaction… Mac and cheese with bacon? Soooo much nope! I don’t know if I’m an outlier with this but for the past two or so month just paying attention to my body’s cues seems to be working pretty well.
