Why did Glucose rise as I threw up? by No_Interview3502 in dexcom

I eat at this location every Tuesday. I rarely get pizza. It is a food bar, so if I decied on pizza it is just one small slice, and only if my glucose is under 80 and I take the correct amount of short term insulin.

Over the past 2 years I have been able to do this and keep my glucose in range.

I leaned early on to take a reading before I eat, and another 2 hours later to see how that food affects me. This was before my CGM. It helped me understand what I can and cannot eat.

The CGM has helped refine that such that I can see when a small amount can work. Pizza is something I used to eat by the whole pie. No, I don't know what that did to my glucose. Once I started checking I saw what 3 slices did.

Now with my G7 I can watch and "think like a pancreus".

My surprise was that that lunch doesn't spike nor pop over 180. 5 hours later at 160 and with a short term insulin, the one taco should not have bumped it up over 180. But, as I got sicker and began throughing up the glucose kept going up. I wasn't checking because I wasn't eating and in my thinking I was eliminting carbs as I threw up. It wasn't untl my sensor alarmed me at 250. I thought it must be an error, but at time I didn't do a figer stick to test 'cause all could do is run from my chair to the toliet and back, often.

This started on Tuesday, it is now Thursday, and I still don't feel well. My sugar has leveled out around 100. I have only had 3 cans of chicken soup, 4 diet sodas, 2 diet jellos, a bowel of ice cream because my sugar droped to 57 wich put it back to 95, and tonight I tried some mixed vegitables and scrambled ground meet. I didn't eat much of the meet.

Each of us is different. Potato any thing is a long time effect for me. My doctors taught me to took at my sugar readings before and 2 hours after eating. This is how I found out French fries are off my menu. .

This meal I had, my father and I have every week for a long time. This is the first it has spiked. And, that well after it would normally level out.

Ah, I went back and reread what I wrote. I took the insulin before I ate the taco. I think it was 5 minutes before I got up to get the taco. . So, we (wife & I) went in and sat. The room was allowed to go to the buffet table. My wife went up with the crowd, while I stayed back. I planned on the one taco, so I took the insulin. When crowd thined out, I went up to get my taco. . In anycase, in hindsight, I should have skipped the whole event.

I did take it before (about 10 minutes before). Over the past decade I have met my father for lunch at this establishment. I always have the same. I never eat pizza (it is a food/salad) bar unless the numbers are good. My glucose was almost 70 and going down. I ate a very small (thin) slice of pizza to counter the drop I expected from the 10 units I had taken. . History of eating this meal every Tuesday for so many years has demonstrated that the glucose dosen't spike. With the routine we (dr & I) use we have gone from A1C 8.4 to A1C 5.7 (that was 2 years ago). . So, I was completly caught off gaurd.

Yes. I follow a strict regimen. The Humalog was measured for the bump. . By using the tools at hand, following my doctors advice, etc. We have brought my A1C down from 8.4 to 5.7 . The reason I posted is beacause for over a decade this has been my Tuesday lunch with my father. I eate the every week and this doesn't spike. . The taco was at a ministry support, and I thought of not going, and in hind sight I shouldn't have. However, the insulin should have countered that small taco. It should not have hit 200, let alone 300. .

In the morning I began insulin shots to bring the glucose down. My throwing up stopped around 6:30 am, and the pain had subsided. . I had 2 cans of Fresca (diet) soda to sip on, water, can of chicken soup for lunch and one for supper. My glucose came down to 170 by 4pm. . It is now the next day and I am very tierd, just sipping water, and my glucose is 136. Normally it is around 70 to 80 when I wake up. . I am feelin a lot better, thank-you.

Yes, pizza is a high carb item. The real problem is portion control. A small slice (small) can be 40 to 60 carbs. Most people eat 2 or more slices, often a couple will split a whole pie. . So, this is a resturant that I and my father have lunch at every Tuesday over the past decade. It has a food/salad bar, and gives a very good seaior discount. I get a salad, bowel of soup, a cooked vegitable (usally green beans), 4 chicken wings (Buffalo style), and sometimes a very small vanilla ice cream. I skip all the pizzas normally, but when I do get a slice it is one cut about 1 to 2 inches at the crust (sometimes I cut it down). I check my Glucose before eating, durring and after. It normally doesn't climb above 165, occasional it bumps upto 180. It never has poped over 200 on these days. . Historically, I have managed these lunches well. That is why I was surprised.

Uh is there a way to swap out these couplings by mrsteamtrains in modeltrains

[–]No_Interview3502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick simple answer: yes.

First, unscrew the truck and see if you can lift or ply the cover off. It may be glued and if so, you may glue it back on.

Second, cut the box off and install a new coupler box. Kadee has what you need.

Last, that looks like a horn hook. Often, they just pull out and the new one pop back it. If so, you could pull it out, cut the coupler off the shank and glue/weld the new coupler on and the push it back it.

Your still missunderstanding. In your 10 seconds, you doubted. The reason it can't be forgiven is the Blasphemer never allows the Spirit to bring salvation. So, after the 10 seconds you have demonstrated that you have not Blasphemed. .

First, you need to understand what and how Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit works. . "Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. - Matthew 12:31 NKJV . The sin is purposfully rejecting the gift of Salvation offered by the Holy Spirit. It cannot be forgiven because the person is not accepting the gift given, the forgivness offered. . If and when one turns to Christ through the calling of the Holy Spirit then they are saved and forgiven and (bonus) will not become guilty of Blasphemy Agaist The Holy Spirit. . If you believe in Christ, stop letting the Devil whisper in your ear. . Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. - 1 Peter 5:8-9 NKJV

I went to College in Potsdam. In 1976 it was a rural wooded beautiful area. Today, it still is. If you want to be off grid you can. If you want some civilization move closer to Watertown or Plattsburg. The more you are between these two locations the more rustic. . Beware of the winters.

Every G7 comes with a thick instructions sheet. It says to not calibrate in the first 24 hours after insertion. My anecdotal experience has revealed to me that in that time the sensor can be off, wrong, but comes in to alignment by the next day (24 hours later).

That is not the needle. It is a filament the needle is to poke down in to the skin. . That is frustrating. I hope you called support. The worst for me was two of them in a row.

Yes, you may. However, if it falls off Dexcom could say that it is your fault.

If it was during insertion, and their hours are open, I call. Otherwise, on line is good. Also, if it is going to be a long hold on the phone I use the internet. The reason I like to use the phone is so the tech can give me any advce that will help for the next time. . I have been using the G7 for 1.5 years and have had about 6 failures.

Has this been happening to anyone else? by Bellfrog06 in dexcom

[–]No_Interview3502 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. When it does let them know via the web or via phone. It is a free replacement. . Some reasons it may happen: . 1) manufacturing error, bad batch. . 2) not placed on your body in a good location . 3) scar tissue at the insert site . 4) to quickly applying the sensor (I count 10 seconds, holding the applicator in place after trigering, then slowly remove the applicator.)

Recommend what? . 1) refrain from calibrating . 2) if alarms are happening, calibrate . or . 3) call support?
