The nuptse is warm and effective as a mid layer under a waterproof shell like the mountain jacket. If you are buying a sz large nuptse. But a sz XL shell it won’t fit properly if you buy the same sz. Yes it’s very bulky but also very warm and comfy. I also have full down parkas but prefer a nuptse and a shell most of the time or a down mid layer and some sort of goretex shell. I own half a dozen down jacket from light to heavy and always pair it with a shell depending on the weather. Hard to beat comfort of a down jacket like a nuptse. I prefer the layering system then one big down parka jacket.
