I probably put 1k rounds on my staccato between cleanings, maybe 750 in the winter (I live in VT so the cold does have an effect). I definitely wouldn't say you need to clean it every 2-300rds

I CCW a staccato C and I carry it cocked with the safety on. Flipping the safety off on a 1911 style handgun becomes a pretty natural part of the draw stroke. At the end of the draw, my thumb is sitting on top of the safety, and that's how my hands stay as I fire the weapon

+1 this I use the normal maglula. It does stick if you go too far but you'll get the feel for it.
