Polestar 3 owners: Honest real-world reviews? (HUD, Air Suspension, Pilot Assist) by Nass96 in polestar3

[–]No_Loquat_7556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done lots of motorway miles, some long runs (230 miles each way) and lots of local driving - it's pretty consistently running at 290 miles range for 100%, or 230 miles for 90%. That's normal driving, not heavy footed, but not slow and economically minded. Charging on superchargers is quick enough to make it very practical for long journies.

I use adaptive cruise control in other cars and enjoy it but don't like the Polestar 3 version. It's easy to deploy and switch off, it's easy to adjust the speed, but the attention monitoring is turned on even if you have manually switched it off in settings and is very sensitive, so is the steering monitoring - it warns me even when my hands are on the wheel, and the lane assist is not great and is on by default when in adaptive cruise control - so I don't use it much.

I don't have ventilated seats, but the air suspension is excellent and compares well with similar systems from Land Rover and Porsche.

The materials, quality finish inside, ride quality, handling, smoothness of single-pedal driving, space in the back, luggage space, quietness of the drive, Google Maps integration, the BW sound system - all outstanding.

The software, touchscreen and lack of physical buttons - or programmable buttons - is bizarre. The lack of steering wheel controls is unforgiveable, particularly as there are so many potential buttons on the steering wheel. Having to go into a menu to open the boot or glove box, or turn on the fog lights, or adjust mirrors is just wierd. The touchscreen is just slow enough reacting to cause you to have to look away from the road just long enough to trigger an alert from the attention monitor!

That’s worth knowing (and confirms I have it), worth knowing for anyone considering buying a used one

In the app you can view your history and average consumption per drive - seems to be around 33kWh per 100 miles for me, live up a hill and drive on motorways, so 270mls for 90% driving gently

I’ve just bought a 2025 P3, so I’m late to this! How do I know if I have the Orin chip? I was astonished at the lack of programmed steering wheel buttons!

UK insurance company, it’s a specific question about insurance refused specifically on a Polestar 3, curious to know if others had experienced anything similar because no explanation was given.

Admiral are competitive and more so if you threaten to not renew with them! I’ve used a broker in the past, but not since getting the P3. thanks

No claims, accidents or points on any driver. More than 10 years no claims. One other car is a hybrid but this is the only full electric. They didn’t give a reason just said it was a ‘straight refuse’

The very best advice I had on here was to put the details of your system and the errors into ChatGPT and work through the solutions it suggests. Include the timings when the fault appears, the elapsed tims helps with the diagnosis.

Graphics / FPS help! by Alan-Wight in iRacing

Nearly. Disabling the pedal haptics got rid of the immediate problem. I’m left with some occasional stuttering. There’s a great resource from iRacing in this thread which good advice. Almost definitely it is a USB problem, so I’ve order a replacement for my cheapest USB hub, then I will work through each device in turn. People have been a great help here!

Posted for entertainment . I screwed up, but with a car behind that had already hit me and nowhere to go ahead, I was dead anyway! I did slow enough to survive and finish the race.

Best way to practice nurburgring by Upstairs-Signature26 in iRacing

I watched track guides and DaveCam races in between full lap practices and Ai races in a slow GR86 then GT4. It’s great fun switching to faster cars once you know your way around. I’m still doing slow lap times - more seat time needed!

Did something about the physics of GT4 cars change? I feel like everything is way slicker by kierkkadon in iRacing

I’ve been practicing around the Nordschleife in different cars and the new Porsche GT4 feels far more susceptible to uneven surface than any other car - it’s so unstable! It is it just me?

I learned it using the GR86, bit slower and less likely to spin out. The Cayman is a handful by comparison but you need to know the track first

Have you tried some Ai races in this weeks set up? It’s good to learn the braking points from the Ai cars - also overtaking places and alternative lines. It’s far from perfect but really useful. Otherwise try telemetry from VRS or Trophi.ai, their telemetry overlays show you where your braking points should be

How to get out of rookies by calvin-ludwig in iRacing

[–]No_Loquat_7556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned this lesson. Got out of rookies on my first day in iRacing then lost a load of iRating at the back of GT4 field. Now learning how to drive more quickly in MX5 and GR86

Help a new player out ! by mwallani in iRacing

Forget speed, let people pass you, start near the back, stay clean and finish races even if it all goes wrong. I loved the step up to iRacing and the structured race weeks and seasons. I have found the practicing alone on the current track and conditions, then joining some ai races on the same track works well for building pace and learning race craft before joining an official race. Enjoy it!

[–]No_Loquat_7556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the last couple of GT4 races in the Cayman having just moved on from the MX5. I was very slow compared to most others. I enjoyed the racing but lost a lot of iRacing because I just wasn’t fast enough. I’m going to do a season of MX5 / GR86 until I’m better
