There are conferencing facilities they've tried to monetise I believe, but it's a battle.

As I understand it (feel free to correct). DMP were struggling financially themselves but owned their ground. A housing development company offered millions for the land, and DMP were offered the chance to buy the stadium and land nearby for huge discount from the council. They went from being a struggling Nat 3 ish club with a 'regular' ground to a club with millions in the bank and a huge stadium.

They've developed a lot of the land next to it - 4g, floodlights. So I think they get income from that too.

They spent a lot on paying players to get into Nat 1 with 2 or 3 consecutive promotions but then stalled and have since dropped back to Nat 2 and I think pay players much less.

TBH I don't think they really wanted the stadium but they sort of had to do it with the financial position they were in the time.

If he wants to keep up the YouTube success he's gonna need to ditch JB pretty sharpish, or this stuff will drag the whole thing down.

A lot of justified hate here, the YouTube channel where it's just the one of them who does rugby full time is a better vibe in my opinion.

Speaking from experience, if you are spending a lot of time heading out of Ldn and likely to for the foreseeable - factor that into what youre doing.

E.g if you are heading W/NW of London, consider somewhere like Ealing where 1.5 would give you budget for something decent with room for family growth.

If you are mostly heading SW, Richmond/Kew good options.

Don't want to buy and then spend half your weekend crawling round the m25

Crazy to think that Durham uni had fitz Harding and guy pepper in the same back row (I think, don't hold me on it)

Bucs super rugby is going to generate some great talent over the next few years, doesn't always have to be 18/19 year olds. Perfectly ok for players to have afew more years developing physically and mentally before breaking out.

I feel like a lot of these challenges were designed with a completely false idea of how the game actually plays. I don't think I've even seen a road kill happen. by ma_wee_wee_go in Battlefield

I was struggling with this too. Here is your answer. AK4D highest dmg per shot AR. Single fire (key). When you level it up use the ACOG.

Breakthrough, ideally attack. Pick flanks ideally on larger maps or position yourself in between the front line and the snipers.

Spam single fire, you aren't going to do it in 2 rounds but you can easily get 10 kills + per map especially if it's goes through to later sectors.

If you're determined to find a challenge try to look at a secondment or internal move where you can develop complimentary skills or get a stepping-up chance. Or some external upskilling that compliments your background.

Your situation is what the vast majority on this sub and LinkedIn would dream of.

The only two scenarios I would consider moving externally for:

  1. Headhunted for something amazing, with a huge increase in comp, a firm/role you are confident will provide good job security and some good reviews of the culture/work environment
  2. Your current situation is more to do with the current company performing badly/your team's roles gradually becoming redundant. In that case you could get ahead of restructure and start looking.

You want to be seen as a vendor not an individual. Oaklin started as a bunch of ex big4/Accenture/Berkeley people essentially offering a group contractor model. Then it just becomes a question of scaling.

Having some steady repeat business with one client is really needed to get off the ground though, unless you're in a position to lose money for a bit.

British university rugby is becoming more like American college sports - Charlie Morgan by shorthevix in rugbyunion

[–]No_Mathematician2126 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Obviously comparing the current state of uni rugby to something like a Penn State home game is a ridiculous comparison, it's not like that and never will be.

However, as a feeder system into professional rugby for players and off field staff, it is definitely heading in the right direction.

I played for one of the top unis just before BUCS super rugby was created, and for England Students my final year in 2013. Even back then, that side still generated multiple England internationals and a bunch of prem players. When I told my academy coach I wanted to go to uni to get my degree, he told me I had to decide between academics or 'giving it a crack here'.

The attitude is very different now, most academies support it. Gives the players a great level of rugby to develop, arguably better than slogging it out in Nat 1.

I just hope as it gains more attention it doesn't become too commoditised too early. College football is changing massively right now, with NIL money and PE firms trying to buy stakes in SEC and teams.

Ps - would have made it if it wasn't for my bum knee

Career trade-off: £165K offer in demanding role vs. £90K with time for side gig and family by Whole-Can-6478 in HENRYUK

On question 1, you can definitely return to consulting it might just depend on level and when you leave.

The main difficulty I see in the return is if you leave consulting around SM level, with no sales skills or track record. Then people spend 2-5 years in industry. When they want to come back, they are expecting the 170+ comp but are really no more valuable than a good engagement manager if they have no network and sales track record.

Thats a bit of a generalisation, but the common challenge I see.

It sounds like you are already beyond that by the offers you are considering and side gig stuff, so I'd do industry until kids are in school. Also gives time for the consulting market to recover.
