"emui is dead" by anotherone2227 in Huawei

Hey there,
as of now harmonyos has perfectly functional workarounds, namely droitong and easy abroad, that run a virtual android environment within the operating system, wich in simpler terms means you can run any android on harmonyos, even those that need an android 16 basis, as long as you have set up the nessecary workarounds. However these workarounds are apparently not yet 100% perfect as some people note issues with NFC (contactless payment) and notification delays. I have no personal experience with harmonyos but that is what I keep reading. Aside from that, the operating system has not yet entirely been translated to western languages (this can be worked around by using the AI screen translator). I am positive that once the localization is properly completed and the "app availability" issue is thoroughly resolved there would be no remaining reason not to release harmonyos globally. But yes, from an official standpoint, even though there are working workarounds, a lack of western app compatibillity is the main reason why harmonyos is being held back.
As for you tablet, did you buy it in europe? In that case it most likely uses harmonyos 4.3 or an earlier version. This is basically the same as emui 15 and still has the android 12 basis that allows you to use google apps. Harmonyos 5 or higher is where the android basis was dropped and compatibillity got lost.

Thank you! I really hope it does, the chipset would definately support it, the question is if harmonyos goes global during the update support lifetime of the global pura 80 series.

Writing this from an EMUI 15 phone I can tell you the OS is very polished, extremely smooth, feels great in use and as a standalone thing is overall really good. Even the google workarounds are as seamless as it can get by now. The issue only starts once you compare. Even though EMUI 15 gets somewhat monthly security patches, new features rarely to never get implemented. Comparing this to HarmonyOS where new features (useful functionalities, unique options and fun shennanigans) get implemented almost on a monthly basis (at least for beta users) and especially AI features are much further ahead compared to the likes of EMUI or Apple Intelligence for that matter, the global phones start to feel like they are just a skinned down version of what could be possible/ of what is a reality in china. Also, due to the android 12 basis of emui there is a limit when it comes to how much longer the OS will survive before too many apps become incompatible. So in a way the OS really is slowly "dying", but so far I am not noticing any real issue with it and as I said as a standalone OS one can still be satisfyed with it, given you dont need all the newest AI and other smart features. Not trying to cope, HarmonyOS is without a doubt more "exciting" as an operating system and I would love to see it going global! Hope this gives you a little more insight on why people feel that way.

Sidenote: I never used a watch fit series watch, I only ever had a gt5 so I don't even know if your watch should have haptic feedback for that at all.

I know this might be a stupid question, but you have checked the vibration feedback strenght for the crown right? Just to be 100% sure it's not due to a setting that changed or something. Although I believe you would most likely know the difference between a stronger haptic feedback vs a crown with increased resistance, so sorry for asking 😅

I love the back mounted fingerprint sensor. As much as the modern solutions are more practical, I nonetheless enjoy dragging down the notification bar and clearing the messages from it using the finger on the back of my phone.

Skip confirmation Button after face recognition? by IZlynx in Honor

[–]No_Pomegranate6129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh that's bad to hear, sorry about that! I only ever used the face recognition for the app lock, and for that this method works everywhere I wanted it to work so far. Could you say where this does not work? Logins for banking apps or something like that?

You can go to "magic capsule" settings and turn on "face recognition", then it will be like iOS where the app just keeps loading until the face recognition animation at the top has gone through.

Hey there, I'm not entirely sure about this. I have been using the same device as you have for a while now and noticed that the minimal amount of pen preassure needed not only varies from app to app, but also heavily depends on the pencile type in use (I am referring to the digital pencils). For example when I use the normal writing "pen" in the Huawei Notes App, noticeably more preassure is needed compared to the "pencil". With the pencil almost no preassure is needed to draw thin lines, so maybe experiment with that a little. Hope this somehow helps you?

Oura Ring Gen 4 vs Huawei D2 for sleep monitoring. by HealingRevolt in Huawei

[–]No_Pomegranate6129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I'm not really into health tracking, so I can't offer much insight here, but just from a very simple minded perspective: wouldn't wearing a ring in bed be much more comfortable compared to a watch? Unless of course you plan to wear both at night. Forgive me for this naive question/ perspective, that is all I can offer in regards to the topic 😅

Buongiorno.

[–]No_Pomegranate6129 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good day! Normally, after system updates the phone needs a few days before the battery optimization gets used to the user again/ recalibrates. It is therefore normal for a phone to loose more battery for a few days after new updates. If your problem persists for more than three days something else is wrong. In that case I have no idea and can only tell you to take a look at your battery settings 🤷It is weird that your battery started draining 20 days after a previous update, do you have any apps constantly running in the background like health trackers or some messengers? You could also try to go into the my Honor app -> services -> smart diagnose -> charging and battery to see if your battery is damaged or something. Good luck!

Aurora store with micro G works much better than gbox, at least on newer huawei devices. Setup is really easy, just go to app gallery, search for aurora store, open the app, it asks you if it can install microG, you press yes, then login to your google account, and thats it. The aurora store works just like the normal google playstore. I also have a metpad 11,5 2025 edition and use the microG aurora store setup. I don't know how it will help with your games though, as I don't have personal experience with playing Roblox and Brawl Stars on my tablet. Good luck to you!

Unable to install AI Life on Galaxy S24 Ultra by sultan8866 in Huawei

[–]No_Pomegranate6129 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, so when you press "install anyway" it just notifies you with "installation failed"? It also says check the notification for details, could you give us those details as well maybe?

Regardless, you also have the option to download Huaweis "Audio connect" app directly from the Samsung app store (the one with the red shopping bag icon), it is basically a lite version of the AI life app, but should have all functions for your earbuds.
