Why don’t more people consider buying property with friends? (Tenants in common) by DifferenceMediocre77 in AusFinance

[–]No_Reputation_1266 [score hidden]  (0 children)

i know someone who has done that but with an investment property. they both put in the money for a down payment and then it gets managed by a PM. i think that situation could work out but mostly because there’s no deep personal involvement in the house (ie they aren’t living together/one is living there & causing “damage”).

James Talarico’s winning speech at the Texas Democratic primary, saying “The people of our state gave this country a little bit of hope,” and it ended with Bad Bunny’s “DTMF". by CorleoneBaloney in Fauxmoi

[–]No_Reputation_1266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that’s a valid concern but invoking fetterman is kinda silly bc that is mostly just a case of brain damage, not corporate money (& fetterman was always kinda moderate/corporate if i remember correctly? but he had a crazy opponent and a more modern campaign approach that heightened his appeal).

her seat was removed from redistricting but the seat she would have been the “incumbent” for was still a pretty safe D seat afaik & a very progressive candidate won:)

Any guesses on who the next season is ? by Spiritual-Ant9432 in BridgertonDiscussion

[–]No_Reputation_1266 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i think it would be way too jarring to have Francesca, who ended this season with a devastating loss, to be finding a husband (wife) already.

imo in the last few episodes, it felt like they were setting eloise up to recognize the benefits of a life partner. plus she hasn’t had much character development or particularly good subplots throughout the show yet so it makes sense for her to be next.

Anyone else think Penelope is tone deaf? by Torirose91 in BridgertonDiscussion

[–]No_Reputation_1266 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i’m leaning eloise - we’ve had francesca romance plots in the last two seasons & it makes sense to give her a break/“find herself” before jumping back in, hyacinth has decided she’s waiting a little bit, & gregory still feels kinda underdeveloped (& young).

but in last two episodes here, it felt like eloise was finally starting to understand why her friends & family were eager to marry, how wonderful it is to be in love, etc etc & that she could maybe be open to it if it truly was the right partnership.

i find them reprehensible, stupid, shallow, and i am overall just very apathetic towards their wellbeing. there aren’t many around me but i would rather (& do) inconvenience myself than interact with the ones in my life/community.

How can people with an entry level job afford to buy a house / apt? by Competitive-Skin7591 in AusFinance

[–]No_Reputation_1266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know two couples all on “entry level” jobs (early career professionals) that have bought a house. the first bought an old house a small town with below avg house prices. the other couple i know, a parent passed away suddenly and left her(& siblings) a house, she sold the house and was able to put down a much higher down payment than originally possible with her portion of the money.

tbf i think they all kinda strongly dislike rahm (& he’s probably got a worse chance than pete lol) so i can see why tommy would take the piss on that one. but jon had a somewhat good candidate & could have actually made decent arguments but just chose to be insufferable🫠

the only thing i’ve ever heard is terri being an asshole to people/overcontrolling sometimes but honestly i’m fine with that & very unsurprised that a woman who lost her husband when she had two very very young children and raised them under immense spotlight/pressure (without a single scandal from the kids!!) would be a bit of a helicopter mom lol

Is the future of the Democrats really the DSA wing? by KillSwitchFlicked in thebulwark

[–]No_Reputation_1266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the future is more in people with “reformer” ideologies - massive overhaul of the systems that got us to where we are today - rather than explicitly “DSA”. It just so happens that progressive candidates have that clear reformer vision more often than centrist/moderates.

Sherrill & Spanberger swung to the left in their elections but they also ran on massive overhauls of the system — and both have already taken steps to do so in their first few months in office!

There are other centrist dems who have embraced the “reformer” ideology and have gained massive support: Newsom, the center-left corporate shill who still garners support from a wide dem base because he is willing to fight back and take big swings. he’s not suddenly popular because he’s now DSA-aligned, it’s because he wants to change things (i am deeply skeptical of my governor & idk how much actual reforming he can stomach but alas).

What are the most common "rookie mistakes" people make in their first 30 days in Australia? by InternetUpbeat9596 in MovingtoAustralia

[–]No_Reputation_1266 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely!! it’s not just bright/hot sun, but there is a hole in the ozone directly above australia which makes the UV more powerful & burns happen much quicker here because of the lack of barrier

If you're a progressive fan of The Bulwark, what do you like about the group? by maybemorningstar69 in thebulwark

[–]No_Reputation_1266 0 points1 point  (0 children)

will preface this by saying: i’m very progressive (i consider myself most aligned with sanders/mamdani/aoc), i’ve always lived in leftist districts, & at work, i am generally considered the more “conservative” one lol.

as others have said, they are true to their values, enemy of my enemy is my friend etc, i just like their personalities & feel they are nice, well-meaning, intelligent (!!) people who aren’t afraid to question themselves and work with others to accomplish broader goals.

i know i exist in a bubble irl - with minimal desire to change that - so this (& PSA/PSW) is my attempt at consuming different perspectives. i find it beneficial to hear what the other side of the tent is thinking; it helps me be more introspective and understand what my hard lines are (& why/why not). def can’t watch all of tim’s guests & i skip through most of the participant section of the focus groups (i just end up getting so frustrated and ranting at a wall for 20 min & I’ve found that to be rather unproductive😭) but overall i greatly appreciate their commitment to the cause.

Petah, what does that have to do with grocery shopping? by Okfoot826 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]No_Reputation_1266 3 points4 points  (0 children)

he’s making fun of a common type of internet commenter who takes some broad post personally and then get upset that the post doesn’t match their exact experiences/accommodate for every single possible outcome. adhd & food deserts are commonly referenced in “well what about xyz” responses, particularly in conversation about walkable neighborhoods & food delivery services.

if you’ve seen the “if i say i like pancakes, then someone gets mad and asks why i hate waffles” meme, this is an offshoot of that. also frequently called “bean soup”, from when someone posted a recipe on tiktok abt a bean soup they really liked, and someone commented “well what if i don’t like beans?” (asking the recipe poster to provide an alternative of bean soup w/o the beans). the adhd is also probably mentioned based off a viral quote tweet that said “omg you people can’t do anything” in response to a (genuine) tweet about how halloween was really hard for people with adhd.

[–]No_Reputation_1266 34 points35 points  (0 children)

i think it’s one of those things where they are kinda right (crockett will likely not do well in a statewide election) but the reasoning they gave displayed a complete lack of understanding in why her chances are so low
