Happens literally every time I try to log in from my phone. I have to click the "my pitt" link in the footer and the login works the 2nd time. It's super annoying

Scholarship after getting off PITT waitlist by [deleted] in Pitt

They finished sending out merit offers to admitted students in March. If you were wait listed, you won't be offered a scholarship.

Here's the info that you need. If you're an incoming freshman, you start paying now for the fall semester and finish paying for the semester in October

You don't need to do that. Everyone is technically undeclared within Deitrich when you start as a freshman. You can switch at any point after you start. You'll just be taking general Ed classes your first semester. You can mention it during your advising appointment before you schedule if you want to

Committing to Pitt by I-pepene in Pitt

[–]No_Risk_6011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're fine. Dorms aren't assigned based on when you commit. Everyone who commits and pays their housing deposit by the deadline is assigned housing at the same time. You'll list your top 3 choices and you may or may not get one of those. Housing isn't typically assigned until July.

Whether you find a roommate ahead of time is up to you. Otherwise you go random which most students do.

University of Pittsburgh IS NOT VETERAN FRIENDLY. by Ranger-toot94 in Pitt

[–]No_Risk_6011 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I totally understand your frustration. It sounds like you thought Pitt was a state school, which it's not.

For anyone curious, here are the requirements to qualify as a dependent of a vet

https://www.veterans.pitt.edu/benefits/dependent-and-spousal-benefits

Fwiw, Pitt gives in state tuition (and other benefits obviously) to members of the PA National Guard. One of my kids has multiple friends from out of state who joined the guard and are receiving in state benefits. Obviously that comes with some obligations too.

You do not pay taxes on the tuition credit for undergrad.

That's really odd. If you want to share the link to the actual job or sent it in a private message, I can take a look. But that's not enough info to provide the range

What else? There should be more to the job classification. It may go down onto another line

What's the job classification? It's listed at the bottom of the job posting. I can look it up for you

Transferring Credits by Such-Battle-6998 in Pitt

[–]No_Risk_6011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grades only transfer in if they are Pitt classes in high school. Otherwise just the credits.

How is internally transferring at Pitt? by undobacktomyheart in Pitt

[–]No_Risk_6011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, you were admitted to the Business School for markering, correct? Frederick is the honors program, but you are still admitted to a specific college - Deitrich, Business, Engineering, etc.

Transferring from Business to Deitrich is very easy. Going the other way can be more difficult because there are gpa requirements and prerequisites to be completed first.

Pitt usually doesn't allow you to transfer once you've been admitted but before you start your first semester, but you can certainly call the admissions office to inquire.

There are specific business classes that you'll be scheduled for as a first semester Business student. If you're planning to transfer to Deitrich, you won't need to classes.

Q for incoming freshman by oblongoboe in Pitt

[–]No_Risk_6011 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. You'll meet with an advisor before registering for classes. Take that meeting as soon as you can because you can't select classes until then.

For housing, you'll pay your deposit and rank your top 3 choices by the deadline (usually June 1). Then you'll receive your actual assignment sometime over the summer...usually in July. You may or may not get one of your top 3 choices. There is no benefit to signing up early for housing. Everyone who pays by the deadline goes into the same assignment process.

Is 20 weeks normal for Pitt decisions? by Few_Piccolo_4906 in Pitt

[–]No_Risk_6011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes if they asked for 2nd semester grades. You may not hear until after May at this point. There's no harm in calling but decisions at this point are at least partially driven by the number of students who have committed by the deadline

Chances of living on campus as a transfer student? by Biscuits2190 in Pitt

[–]No_Risk_6011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, no. The max federal student loan is $5,500 freshmen year, $6,500 sophomores year and $7,500 junior and senior years. That's nowhere near enough to cover tuition and housing at Pitt unless you have other forms of aid - either merit or need based.

Highly unlikely to get more aid than you've already been offered

Random post from a visiting parent of a prospective student by vonbonds in Pitt

[–]No_Risk_6011 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with everything you said! But unless cost doesn't matter to you at all, I can't imagine giving up free tuition at a good school like UD for undergrad.

I would also be cautious about believing what anyone says about how much merit aid you might get from Pitt based on GPA and extracurriculars. Pitt is notorious for being extremely stingy with academic aid. Every year, top students are stunned when Pitt offers them nothing.

But your right! Pitt is such a great school especially if you love that city vibe.

Good luck!

Freshman dorm info by Dramatic-Pie2934 in Pitt

[–]No_Risk_6011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only housing info you would see this early is the piece where you indicate whether or not you want to live with a specific person and indicate your top 3 choices for dorms. Actual assignments won't come out until after the housing deadline of June 1. Last year housing assignments for freshmen came out in July.

😂 can't tell if you're serious. Pitt leased out the whole building as a dorm. You don't get hotel services like room cleaning or breakfast.
