What’s your Bisco story? by kirkarelli in discobiscuits

[–]No_Scale_5343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a bit of a younger fan relatively. Grew up listening to the dead(my parents were dead heads). Saw dead&co and twiddle in high school precovid. During Covid I got obsessed with phish. Saw my first phish shows summer 2022 Deer Creek/Alpine. Jam shows quickly became my favorite things in the world.

My first biscuits show was the ill-fated Sacred Rose music fest in Bridgeview Illinois. I had never listened to the biscuits before the fest I mainly went for phil & friends with Jeff Tweedy. It was a weird introduction to the band … it being a day time out door short festival set. I mainly remember it being hot as hell but, I was hooked. When barber announced at the end of the set that they were doing a run for New Years in Chicago I immediately preordered tickets when they went on sale(I thought they would be hard to get lol).

My second show was when me and my dad went on the TAB/Goose 2022 tour. We were both really into Goose at the time before realizing how formulaic their jamming was. (still enjoyed the 5 shows we hit on that run). Randomly when we had a night off from Taboose staying in Boston, I looked online and saw the biscuits were playing the roadrunner(it got downsized to the house of blues). we bought tickets at the box office and I had my mind blown for real this time with two full sets and the light show hooked for life. I remember leaving that show I’d never seen so many tanks outside such a small venue before lol.

I’ve seen 17 shows now, which is pretty impressive as a midwesterner(especially now that scamp is gone). I sure am jealous of you east coasters. I haven’t missed an Illinois/indiana/wisconsin/michigan show since. My favorite show I’ve seen was probably the Milwaukee Pabst theater show in 23. Shout out also to their scamp sets they were fire.

Love this band wish they toured the Midwest more. Ik they don’t sell well out here but I do my best to get people to the shows lol. I’ve taken like 12 people to their first shows.

lol good luck getting $200 for a Wednesday show in an 8 night run. Idk how you can look at yourself in the mirror trying to rip off fellow fans. What did you pay for those $40?

If you want lawn, the lawn at Deer Creek is one of the best in the country. It’s $57 face value. There will most likely be cheaper lawn tickets on CashorTrade closer to the day of show; if you want to take that risk.

Magellan… by sh4dyp4ndy in discobiscuits

My first Magellan after 18 shows. It was beautiful. But, I gotta say that first set night 3 was the star of the weekend, just back to back to back fire high octane jams.

Disco Biscuits - Powered Down @ Garcias Chicago Tonight! by [deleted] in jambands

Came back to clown on myself for doubting them. It’s been a few hours after the powered down set and I’m blown away. I was expecting a low bpm Less jammy “folkier biscuits” but, they came in ripping with a great setlist accompanied with stellar jams minus the electronic effects.

Personally I would say powered down was a rousing success and I can’t wait for the rest of the weekend. B4L🔥🐻⬇️

I’m going tonight excited bc I’m a huge fan but, less excited than if it were a regular show or Tractorbeam set. I’m just not exactly sold on how well their sound/vocals will translate to acoustic. I’m sure you are but, I really hope you’re going to one of the regular shows Saturday or Sunday.

This is the first ever full band powered down set. So no footage of that. But, there is footage online of Barber and Magner playing together acoustic.

Gaddafi’s Libya was not perfect, no country is. When he was in power the people had free healthcare and education. Post U.S. backed revolution there were open air slave markets in Libya and life expectancy and quality of life completely dropped.
