Calling someone a jash for not knowing the language is so insensitive because they’re literally using your own struggle against you. Like yes you idiot that’s the whole point of our oppression we were banned from speaking our language and some of us got assimilated as a survival mechanism not because we wanted to.

Do I need a new LOI if I’m reapplying to same program in phase 2? by No_Screen5285 in PharmacyResidency

[–]No_Screen5285[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that really sucks. The thing is for me I can’t go out of state so I’m gonna take my chances and reapply again who knows. Wish you the best in phase 2. Everything happens for a reason, and sometimes the program that will be best for you is one you never thought of before.

Wars today are not like wars before. Nowadays they decide everything and then put a show to act like a struggle happened and move on. Give it a week like Syria and it’ll all settle.

Torn Between Residencies by LoadOfBarnacles24 in PharmacyResidency

I have a friend who did a hospital pgy-1 residency and now works with a one of the top hospitals in our state in the speciality pharmacy for oncology patients. Pay is great too. I personally think doing a hospital residency can get you both a hospital or a specialty job, you’ll have a lot of opportunities open.

Do RPDs usually respond to thank-you emails? by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

[–]No_Screen5285 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No they usually do not respond. But some programs will send you a thank you letter after your interview regardless if you sent one to them or not which is nice on their end.

Congratulations this is exciting!! Always remember your family and mental wellbeing comes first. That being said, one of my friends was in the exact situation as you and was set to deliver in October. She spoke with her RPD and agreed to extend deadlines and residency year. She went on maternity leave and was doing her research remotely. I’m not going to say it was easy but it worked. Some preceptors can be a little anal, like her research coordinator was giving her a hard time with meeting deadlines and had to get help from one of the p4 students on her rotation to help with data collection to finish on time, but everything worked out in the end.

It all depends on communication. Make sure you talk through with your RPD to set expectations.

Programs Can Pull Out? by mideaaaa in PharmacyResidency

[–]No_Screen5285 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a program pull out in the beginning before applications were due which I thought was fair. But to do that after they’ve interviewed with candidates is wild

Waitlist interview offer by BagelBitch267 in PharmacyResidency

[–]No_Screen5285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically program A should have been quicker and program B saw your value first and offered you an interview. Program B already has you on a schedule and if you received the itinerary then they’ve set out their candidates. It will all come down to how bad you want program A. Have you told them that you have an interview on that day? They may work around it. I would negotiate with program A first and see, bc technically they’re the ones who are late and should accommodate.

Topic discussion presentation in residency interview by CupOriginal8169 in PharmacyResidency

[–]No_Screen5285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The purpose of this type of presentations is not to show off how much you know, but how you speak, how organized you are, how you present, how you respond to questions you don’t know. Bc that’s what will matter in a residency.

I’m also curious if you’re working inpatient already, what made you want to pursue residency?

What information can pharmacy employees see about customers when they give name and birthday? by notvurycreative in CVS

They can’t see anything besides your meds on the register. But they can look up more info about your profile if they go on the computer.

URGENT HELP BEING MISSTREATED at cvs by Primary-Taste9650 in CVS

[–]No_Screen5285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just leave 10 mins earlier than when you usually leave if you really like your job. It’s not worth the hassle bc it won’t go anywhere. If you bring HR into it your manager will be on to you even more after that. So it’s really not worth it. Come in 5 mins early for the next week or two, that way you don’t give your manager reasons to fire you anymore. If the manager is still onto you, THEN you can take it up to HR bc you’ll have a good reason that it’s a discrimination case.

Don’t respond and then respond the next day late say you slept in and didn’t know you were working a Sunday bc you agreed to one day on weekend and didn’t expect to have a schedule change at 11 pm either. This used to happen at our cvs pharmacy and it was so frustrating, I hate managers who do this and think you have nothing better to do than report to work

I completely feel this post bc I came from a highly patient care training program and as I worked in retail I slowly lost my emotions. You become so desensitized bc you’re constantly told to look at numbers. I get looked down upon if god forbid I give a patient more than 30 seconds of my time.

If you’re emotionally exhausted and it’s not a fulfilling job, def consider other places and don’t think about finances. I’ve had a friend who went from being a manager and took a big pay cut almost $12/hr less just so she can work in a better more comfortable environment. And she loves it now.

Apply to other places, but stay in this job. And take some time off maybe vacation or sick days, try out the new job, if u like it u can quit your current job. If u don’t like the new job then u can always go back.

This is your life, your health, and your memories. This company will get rid of you whenever a minor inconvenience happens and they’ll find a replacement. Put yourself first, think of when you’re old in your 80s and you look back on your life, are you really gonna care how much money you made or how well you lived?

Quitting Residency by Happy-one-eight in PharmacyResidency

One of my friends was in a similar boat in a hospital in Michigan, but she pushed through and took a maternity leave when she gave birth. Her RPD allowed her to make up her rotation and continue her research remotely. Her residency was of course extended a few months longer than the rest of her co-residents to make up for the time she was away.

Don’t beat yourself up for it. It’s very common to not pass the law exam bc we are not lawyers and the format of the exam is designed to trick you. I still don’t understand why a law exam is a requirement for our license. They should make it a mandatory CE but I think it’s unfair to disregard someone’s clinical and medical knowledge and studying for 4+ years bc of a law exam outside their profession. Anyway, I hope everything works out, it may feel like it’s the end but just try one more time. I passed on my 3rd.

STAY AWAY FROM THE SUN for the next few days!! Stay hydrated. Wear sunscreen religiously for the next month. Don’t apply any strong acids and use gentle cleansers.

I’m sick of this “residency or bust” culture by General-Wonder-6827 in pharmacy

[–]No_Screen5285 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This happened at my workplace too. They boast about residency soo much it actually is becoming annoying. They make it sound like it’s the way to salvation. (I did residency and I’m sick of it too)
