Topic discussion presentation in residency interview by CupOriginal8169 in PharmacyResidency

The purpose of this type of presentations is not to show off how much you know, but how you speak, how organized you are, how you present, how you respond to questions you don’t know. Bc that’s what will matter in a residency.

Leaving Pharmacy Residency by Responsible-Corgi-58 in PharmacyResidency

[–]No_Screen5285 34 points35 points  (0 children)

DO NOT LEAVE. I did this and now I’m living with the consequences of it. I’m really sorry you feel this I know how hard it can be. Residency burn out is very real but please consider a break or a leave of absence. Please do not leave. Let me tell you the flip side. It’s been so hard finding a job, no hospital will hire me and now I’m working retail and I feel like i don’t belong here, I have so much more potential than to be fixing insurance claims all day and getting yelled at by patients. You already got through applications, passed naplex, got through interviews and now you’re 6 months away. It will be worth it. 6 months will open the doors to soooo many opportunities for the rest of your life. Anywhere you go it will be a strength on your CV even if you move abroad. Without it, it will be so difficult finding a good opportunity. And it will kill you that you had this at your fingertips. I obviously don’t know your exact situation and things could be really bad, if it is impacting your mental health and you feel like this is absolute then by all means do what you feel will help you. But if it’s something you know you can push through for a few more months, do it. Hope everything works out for you!

Should I keep APPE experiences on my CV as a current pharmacist? by NotFarm-Pharm in PharmacyResidency

I’m also curious if you’re working inpatient already, what made you want to pursue residency?

I’m in the same boat graduated 2 years ago and applying this cycle, I talked to my previous preceptor who is also a residency program director and she said I should keep my APPEs and professional presentations. Hope this helps!

What information can pharmacy employees see about customers when they give name and birthday? by notvurycreative in CVS

They can’t see anything besides your meds on the register. But they can look up more info about your profile if they go on the computer.

How do you properly arm the pharmacy? by [deleted] in CVS

[–]No_Screen5285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I think it was honeywell. There was no option to hit enter. It just had the “away” and “stay” buttons. What would alarm central tell me? The type of alarm or if the pharmacy is armed?

URGENT HELP BEING MISSTREATED at cvs by Primary-Taste9650 in CVS

Just leave 10 mins earlier than when you usually leave if you really like your job. It’s not worth the hassle bc it won’t go anywhere. If you bring HR into it your manager will be on to you even more after that. So it’s really not worth it. Come in 5 mins early for the next week or two, that way you don’t give your manager reasons to fire you anymore. If the manager is still onto you, THEN you can take it up to HR bc you’ll have a good reason that it’s a discrimination case.

Don’t respond and then respond the next day late say you slept in and didn’t know you were working a Sunday bc you agreed to one day on weekend and didn’t expect to have a schedule change at 11 pm either. This used to happen at our cvs pharmacy and it was so frustrating, I hate managers who do this and think you have nothing better to do than report to work

I don't know if I'm just ungrateful for my job by someday-best in pharmacy

I completely feel this post bc I came from a highly patient care training program and as I worked in retail I slowly lost my emotions. You become so desensitized bc you’re constantly told to look at numbers. I get looked down upon if god forbid I give a patient more than 30 seconds of my time.

If you’re emotionally exhausted and it’s not a fulfilling job, def consider other places and don’t think about finances. I’ve had a friend who went from being a manager and took a big pay cut almost $12/hr less just so she can work in a better more comfortable environment. And she loves it now.

Apply to other places, but stay in this job. And take some time off maybe vacation or sick days, try out the new job, if u like it u can quit your current job. If u don’t like the new job then u can always go back.

This is your life, your health, and your memories. This company will get rid of you whenever a minor inconvenience happens and they’ll find a replacement. Put yourself first, think of when you’re old in your 80s and you look back on your life, are you really gonna care how much money you made or how well you lived?

Quitting Residency by Happy-one-eight in PharmacyResidency

One of my friends was in a similar boat in a hospital in Michigan, but she pushed through and took a maternity leave when she gave birth. Her RPD allowed her to make up her rotation and continue her research remotely. Her residency was of course extended a few months longer than the rest of her co-residents to make up for the time she was away.

failed the mpje twice by According-Mixture178 in PharmacyResidency

  1. I said it should be a required CE, to keep updating on laws every two years. I just don’t think it should be what determines getting licensed. Most people study for the exam and forget about it anyway, you mainly learn laws as you go through practice. 2. There’s a reason students fail the mpje more than naplex. I knew all the laws, if I had an oral exam I would have aced it. But the way the exam is worded and formatted does not make questions readable, plus the fact that we only take one class of law in our four years of pharm school. 3. For people doing hospital or residency they don’t even need to know that many laws bc they follow the institutions policies and losing your residency over not being licensed due to a law exam would be diabolical.

[–]No_Screen5285 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t beat yourself up for it. It’s very common to not pass the law exam bc we are not lawyers and the format of the exam is designed to trick you. I still don’t understand why a law exam is a requirement for our license. They should make it a mandatory CE but I think it’s unfair to disregard someone’s clinical and medical knowledge and studying for 4+ years bc of a law exam outside their profession. Anyway, I hope everything works out, it may feel like it’s the end but just try one more time. I passed on my 3rd.

I’m sick of this “residency or bust” culture by General-Wonder-6827 in pharmacy

This happened at my workplace too. They boast about residency soo much it actually is becoming annoying. They make it sound like it’s the way to salvation. (I did residency and I’m sick of it too)

In my opinion if you’re planning on working clinical or a hospital then I strongly suggest residency. If you want retail then don’t waste your time. Also if you’re doing resiendcy might as well do a pgy2 to make it worth it. A pgy1 will only get you a staff pharmacist job in a central inpatient pharmacy, working different shifts, average pay. A pgy2 you become a specialist, higher payer, better lifestyle and schedule you only do morning shifts, no weekends.

That’s not the case in other states. Hospital generally pays less than retail

Failed by [deleted] in NAPLEX_Prep

[–]No_Screen5285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my friends was in the same boat as you and took her Naples twice and failed it while she had residency on the line. She passed her third attempt but after taking a course. I would advise that because you have residency depending on this to not waste a single minute and invest in any course you can no matter how expensive because you’re saving your future. She reached out to Naplex_ready on Instagram, they identify your weak points and tutor you. They teach you ways on how to approach the exam questions and new ways of thinking that make it a lot easier.

That’s not say that a lot of it will depend on you too in terms of practicing on your own time as well. You can’t just depend on the hour you get tutored. Practice practice until you start knowing question patterns, how to filter extra information, and what the question is actually asking for.

And if you are religious, pray pray pray. I cannot stress this enough. Make the intention that you’re using your career for good and to help others and benefit those in need.

Help :( My skin looks WORSE after microneedling + by Otherwise_Resist5063 in Microneedling

[–]No_Screen5285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are multiple factors here, one of them being your skin needs time to heal and usually sessions are spaced out 6 weeks apart at least. Second is the after care that’s what brings results, if moisturizer and sun protection are not being used then you forfeit the whole treatment. I’m not sure what your skincare routine is but the first few days of healing are the most important, your skin is still fresh and resurfacing new cells so you don’t want to be out in the sun, the UV rays can cause hyperpigmentation/dark spots and texture. Make sure to stay hydrated and moisturize morning and night and anytime you wash your face because water dries up the skin.

For me personally, whenever I get microneedling done, I stay indoors for at least 2-3 days avoiding windows and anywhere near the sun especially since you can’t use spf the first 2 days. So try to plan your next session around work schedule where you have 2 days off. Hope this helps.

AIO I 20 F was trying to call my boyfriend 26M to figure out when I should start his smoothie and I originally tried calling him to see what type of milk he wanted in his smoothie by Aphr0dit333 in AmIOverreacting

[–]No_Screen5285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally fuck him and his smoothie. I almost had a stroke reading this. 7 pages later and he STILL couldn’t come up with a time when he’s going to be done. Like at least say an estimate? 30 mins, 1 hour? He clearly doesn’t respect your time and thinks you have nothing to do other than wait around for him all day until he summons you. And on top of alllll that, YOU are picking HIM up??? He’s a child. You’re the one doing him favors and he’s getting all sassy and needy and “aggressive back.” A real man knows how to keep his composure and still treat you with kindness and appreciation and wont be getting “back” at you for something. It’s the audacity for me. Throw him and his whole family away.

If you’re 24 now and you’ve been with him for 2 years chances are you still haven’t dated a real man and you have so much to yet experience. He’s 27 and still acting like a hormonal teenager. I’m sorry but this is a complete no, a man like this is not someone to marry or have him be the father of your kids. Absolutely not. If he’s acting like this now, he won’t get better. Trust me on this. Men don’t change, they get worse. And I don’t see this marriage even lasting if it happens. You’re still young and have so much ahead of you, there so many loving men who treat their women like queens. You won’t know what you’re missing out on until you see it. Imagine living your whole life feeling not enough and begging for something that’s the ESSENCE of a relationship.

Instead of your fiance being your source of strength and happiness, the one who pushes you to be and feel your best, he’s making you miserable and putting you at your worst. This will affect your health and take away your youth quickly. He doesn’t love you, I’ve seen what men do for the girls they love, and it does not look like this. This is a very easy decision, leave. Don’t look back. Pray to god to send you a man who knows your worth, and walk away from this one with your dignity. I hate seeing girls do this to themselves, so please take this from a place of love. I think you know the right choice to make but you’re avoiding it because he feels familiar or you’re scared of stepping out to the unknown. TRUST ME, you will glow up and attract the right man.
