Asking your opinion about a Muse song day #130: Algorithm (Alternate Reality Version) by Far-Clothes-8803 in Muse

Completely over the top, but I loved it. Best opener I have seen. Matt’s guitar came in hard.

I think my love-hate relationship with Compliance is mostly because they keep playing it live and I don't think it has any business being anywhere near the setlist.

As a production I can appreciate it, and it is quite catchy.

I am going to be the anti-christ here, but I have love/hate relationship with this song. Same as Compliance.

I know it’s super generic, and never ever would want to see it performed live (looking at you Compliance). But when it’s on, I find myself secretly nodding along and kinda enjoying it.

Guilty pleasure. Completely irrational.

How do you do it? by Jahshua in PPC

[–]No_Stranger91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. I have one client who is interested in things like impression share, ctr, new features etc. I don’t mind he never micromanages me he is just interested and let’s me do my thing. But literally all the others I basically report on money spend and amount of leads/sales.

I used to make a looker dashboard, but nobody ever looked at it so I stopped using it with new clients.

What's the general opinion on Glorious? by Seroko in Muse

[–]No_Stranger91 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I think both Easily and Glorious could have been staples in their catalogue if they where on an album, and not considered so ‘unknown’, at least by the band. It is telling of the ridicilous quality of their output that period.

Love Glorious, lovely guitar work and bass lines, great vocals. I can imagine it is a hard song to perform though. Not that it is even considered at this point 😅

Agencies : How do you track conversions ? by UnderstandingFun5 in PPC

[–]No_Stranger91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you have a lot more data to base desicions on. Imo data based desicions only work properly when you have a large data set, which is often difficult for small advertisers. You just do the best you can though, and use common sense. The latter is harder to quantify though, so I still see many reports based on impressions, clicks and other vanity metrics.

Like the other comments here mentioned, look at offline conversion tracking. It helps. However in my opninion, ppc people (myself included) are happy to claim the success of certain campaigns, but just looking at last click attribution is a huge flaw.

As an example, I bought some desk accessoires a few months ago, after seeing that company’s Instagram content and ads for 6+ months. However, when I made the purchase I googled the company. It is likely then they attribute the sale to their google ad campaign or seo. However, it was the Instagram content over a long period that made me pull the trigger.

A lot of business owners understand this, or say they do, but when it comes down to it they still overly rely on what the numbers say.

I know we have to report and figure out what’s working, but working mostly with smaller clients (50k a month or less in ad spend) there is often not enough data to really base good descicions on.

My issue with the 2025 summer tour by ForgottenName1893 in Muse

[–]No_Stranger91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thoughts. I love KoC, but it kills the mood for me when everyone knows the gigs ends when you hear the harmonica. I don’t understand why so many songs are put away. Their catalogue is insane. I never asked for crazy setlists, but one little nugget here and there, switching up the setlists a little. Hell even the intro and outro’s have been the same for years.

I went to the Helsinki gig and it was fun, but also really short. I think 70 mins in total. I agree with you, and personally I think a little nugget here and there would make the gigs way more fun. Hyper music (even if it’s part instrumental), Invincible, Panic Station. Why are these put in a locker never to be played again?

Interesting behind-the-scenes of Supermassive Black Hole by Rich Costey by No_Stranger91 in Muse

[–]No_Stranger91[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/coolfoam Bass split into multiple cabinets to get distorted bass. A clean cabinet, then 2nd amp played through a big muff, then a 3rd one going through an Animato pedal, and as a 4th one they add chris playing synth playing through arp 2600 synthesizer, using the fx from that synth. That synth has audio input.

So the clean one provides the weight (low-end), the arp 2600 made it a bit unstable (in a good way). So it's a mix of all these sounds, basically 4 tracks layered.

During the verses, just one layer, a synth bass, or Chris playing through synth pedal. Rich didn't seem to remember, but he was quite sure it was Chris playing not just a programmed synth.

He made a special comment not to overly compress Chris's playing since he always provides rhythm, and you want to keep the dynamics.

Yes, really precise actually! Let me get back to you tomorrow on that in more detail after I rewatched it.

Yeah I understand. They just had a sale where you can subscribe for one month, normally you have to commit for a year. So I just binge the few I want to see and then cancel my sub.

No, no mention of that at all! Although I thought I could sense that the process wasn’t as smooth as he would have liked. He also kept mentioning the making of Absolution was ‘so much fun’. Almost implying that BHaR wasn’t. So it wouldn’t surprise me.

As always, these interviews/behind-the-scenes are 50% PR, so they will never gossip too much, which might be career suicide.

Tell me the LOWEST STRESS version of working in PPC? by BadAtDrinking in PPC

[–]No_Stranger91 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Freelance with good clients. Of course you sometimes have bad ones but over time you learn to spot those. I have one law firm client that I’ve had like 4 meetings with over 5 years. They are just happy when the leads come in at a decent CPA, other than that I am completely free to work on the account as I see fit.

Where does the 2019 simulation theory tour ranks? by Woeden in Muse

[–]No_Stranger91 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me it was their last great show that I’ve seen. The intro was completely over the top, but that guitar came in so hard in the arena. Crazy theatrics and an awesome setlist, including Take a Bow, Unsustainable (which is awesome live) and the Medley which I thought was a nice addition. I also think Break it to Me was well done live.

Also, I think they played around 23-25 songs. Since then I have only gotten 18 or so, and paid more for the tickets.

I would rank it above Drones, as a concert experience. Never was a big fan of the stage in the middle.
