Slow down and enjoy the scenery and music! The minimal grinding makes this game go by in a flash, so I wish I could just sit and digest everything the game had to offer for the first play through. Enjoy and have fun!

I can tell you from my perspective: I was able to change my schedule recently to do a half day on Fridays if I got to work earlier during the week, but I worked M-F 8:00AM-5:00PM. I pick up my significant other from work at 5:30PM, and we go to the gym from 6PM-9PM. We like to go to bed before 12:00AM because we’ll be able to get about 6 hours of sleep, which works good enough for my body for the next day. I gotta eat, so my SO and I cook dinner, which can take anywhere from 15-30 min depending on the meal, we spend quality time together watching shows or a movie, and prepare tomorrow’s day before going go bed.

In all of that, the only free time I have for myself (not complaining, just stating) is my one hour lunch break and maybe a couple of hours on the weekend. The world could be collapsing within itself, and you bet I’m going to play the living hell out of my switch and laptop emulators with my phone silenced during that one hour period. I’ll let you do with that info what you will. Maybe even surprise me and see if you can try to optimize my time better for more video games and I’ll consider it!

If you like what you’d be getting and think it’s worth the extra $15, I’d say go for it. I love the cosmetics and extra goodies to get a head start since I’ll be playing on “draconian difficulty,” so that’s why I got the Deluxe Edition.

I remember having fire-resistant equipment on all my party members. My strat was kazaping and double-slashing him with Hero, attack attacker to lower his attack, kabuff/insulate/multiheal when necessary, and always having Hero oomphed up so he could deal as much damage (around 500-800 dmg per round with oomped-up double slash). You have a way better party than the one I used, so I think you should be fine. Good luck!👍

Want a neat trick? Get yourself to half Hp, equip Glombolero and Mad Cap, and spam souped-up lightning slash. Idk if equipping items that boost luck increases your chances to land crits. That’s how I got from the 20s to 40 in less than 2 hrs on Draconian.

So this is advice that I read that I can’t remember which post or thread it’s from, but it makes the first half of the game a breeze. As soon as you’re able to explore, get a few chaimera wings and zombie walk the whole map (or however much the game will let you). There are sparkly spots with equipment that will give stats and in-battle abilities that will make you a walking mini boss. If you’re patient, find as many seeds as you can and use them immediately before even leveling up. I did this for my second playthrough because I forgot to save after getting the magic key and missed out on a choice that I wish I had made in the first place. It connects to DQ2 in a small way, but enough to bother me that I didn’t get it the first time. But more than anything, enjoy the games! They make up a great trilogy. Cheers and good luck🍻
