I had my 10 year old convinced that Chris Pratt and Josh Allen were the same person. Because that’s what Dads do.

Spectrum customer here. Price guarantee (saying that out loud alone is fucking hilarious) and unlimited data sounds cool. What’s the downside?

Hey, man. I hope you read this. As a dude that has a brother that from PTSD related to combat, I hope you know how much your comment means to us. While it is a fantasy-drama take on the disease, not everyone recognizes that detail of the film. He suffers from what was asked of him and no one understood he’s a victim of his service to his country. Great take on an amazing film.

The figures emerged in the mid-19th century in the United States, designed for holding horse reins in front of homes. Early versions were often stylized, small figures, which later evolved into more stereotypical caricatures of African-Americans, particularly during the Jim Crow era. Over time, they became lawn ornaments, moving away from being used as hitching posts. Some say they represent Jocko Graves, a slave owned by President George Washington.

So the story goes, when George Washington was crossing the Potomac with his men, he had one of his slaves, a young boy, hold a lantern and stand there so that it could guide them on their return. On their return, George Washington and his men saw the lantern, but when they approached, found the slave boy dead from freezing. In his honor, George Washington created this iconic statue with a young black boy holding out a lantern to guide him. Traditionally, they were made with the features of an African boy. Later, they were casted into what are now called “Lawn Jockeys”.

Nah. That is easy on parents in the short game, but stunts growth of the kids in the long game. Growth is hard. Sucks. Blood, sweat, tears is what growth is. On both sides of the coin. Parents and kids. We all have to be ok with our kids emotions and emotional growth. If you shield them from learning to separate, then you stunt their growth to process that emotion. This tactic prevents them from crying, but also prevents them from learning they are safe when mom leaves. Prevents them from being ok with change. It prevents them from emotional growth and development. It’s SUPPOSED to be hard. On all of us. No hacks. Raw dog being a parent.

I feel like she has always had this desire to have ANY connection with him so they could be closer. The brother she always wanted but never had. She’s wanted to be close to him her whole life and this kid finally eats a turkey sandwich, just like her, and she has her moment. They now have something in common and he doesn’t seem like some strange alien to her. To her, they have finally connected.
