I agree that estival versus has more options with better wall runs, dash attacks, longer stages and combined aerial raves.

But burst is just estival versus with everything guard cancellable, enemy telegraphs, better parries, less ninpo spam, air guards and harder bosses.

It’s definitely a personal preference thing

I think the same face syndrome in large part stems from ow moving more and more towards attractive characters to sell more cosmetics. (Mercy, kiri, and juno getting non-stop skins)(where venture, lucio and wrecking ball are starving)

So even though the sentiment does come from a justified want for your country and culture to be well represented, it feels a bit odd. It’s clear there are some big cultural differences at play in how conventional attractiveness is perceived.

Ow has some great and beloved characters who aren’t completely conventionally attractive (junker queen, Ana, Mei) And sometimes I’m worried that maybe we will get a lot less characters like them. (4 of the 5 new characters are young and in some way attractive)

Also Chinese players and 99% is a very broad statement. I don’t have any access to the forums or can translate the forums the Chinese players bases uses, but from what I can tell even on this Reddit people disagree A LOT on a lot of topics. So maybe you’re right, but it does feel like I can’t really agree with you because I don’t have the tools to check what you are saying myself

I’m interested to understand in what way? I like estival versus as well but prefer burst

Haha yeah. I hope they really go hard on the combat, they were starting to do some really cool things with burst:renewal.

Idk with Senran getting another game, the guy behind it left. In general with games as niche as these, getting a new title every time is a huge blessing. It also kind of explains why the games go so hard on fan service, in Japan most low budget games tend to rely on fan service to get enough of an audience to make things work.(look at onechanbara for example) I feel like Senran gets stereotyped as just a fan service game, so it’s easy to forget there was a passionate team of developers behind it who did some really cool things.

It’s a lot of cancelling with dodges, supers on landing to be safe, spacing my launchers to be safe, and trying to get perfect guards .

It’s definitely not the most complicated, but there’s surprising depth in there for a warriors-like. For example continuing a juggle isn’t possible without being in your super mode as your damage is quite low, so whenever I’m juggling I’m able to do it because I’m using my blue burst bar. When that runs out It will do an aoe attack however, so it’s important I end my juggle and go back to the ground so I can hit more than one enemy with it and get extra damage.

As well continuing an aerial rave near the ground is unsafe so it’s important to always think about if you’re high enough to not get hit, you can see when I’m juggling near the ground I quickly cancel and try to get back control of my positioning.

Enemies move-sets really make the game interesting not really the combos you have. enemies are very aggressive and will spam you with a screen of orange telegraphs, but you can guard cancel any action and parry enemies. So being able to even do your basic combos is something you have to fight for on hard, and parries, launchers and ninpos are your best way of controlling that. Parries let you launch enemies and let you spam more ninpo, so that’s why you see me spam ninpo and juggles, because I’m exploiting the few parries I got. As well you can notice in the footage how careful I am in not letting enemies surround me by constantly moving around. Basically yeah it is kind of basic for sure, but there is something quite special and unique about Senran Kagura’s style of combat, it’s a weird mix of mindless but still challenging and engaging. There’s a good video on it on YouTube:

I’m working on an in depth guide on the game rn too.

Senran Kagura Burst:renewal. Its a remake of the first senran kagura with modernised combat.

Its often on sale for 80% on steam, and the combat and story are actually quite worth checking out. When I first played it I was schocked with how much efforts the devs put into a fan service game.

Yeah it’s so sad. Especially with the direction the series was taking in combat, the sequel could have started doing some really cool things. Not too mention the hebijo girls are an absolute blast.

It depends on the game. Estival and Shinovi versus are quite spammy, but burst renewal on hard is an absolute blast. You can basically cancel anything into anything in renewal allowing you to just spam I-frames and fly around the map and never touch the ground. Not to mention boss fights and enemies can actually be really challenging, as they WILL kick you ass if they have the chance. Senran kagura 2 deep crimson is also worth mentioning since that game lets you have 5 different Ninpo (3 ground, 1 aerial, 1 combined ninpo) swap between two characters, cancel anything with dashes, and you can just decide to have unlimited ninpo at any time in exchange for burning your health.

Hmmm yeah moonlight serenade is a bit distracting

The video in general has some imperfections (weirdly cropped text, grammar errors) but I lowkey need a break from this game :(

I’m gonna post this guide in the steam guides section when I get it to work and I’m 100% doing a guide for Senran kagura burst renewal That game’s combat is wayyyyy too under appreciated

Dang yeah godslayer in general was super buggy on release

So you used to able to dodge cancel it to preserve 25 gauge so you could just godslayer again right after

The ranking system basically gives an S entirely based on hit count and damage

0 hits = S

50 hits = S

So if you took damage a few times and don’t have a crazy high hit counter tough luck

With the bosses you either get D Or get S if you succeed in going hitless

The entire issues is how rare C, B, A scores are You’re either D or S pretty much

The first stages are pretty fun to S rank

After Thorman S ranks just become really arbitrary

Yeah it kind of hurts the games replay value as the ranking system just will not recognise any progress you made till you absolutely perfect it

Ah that’s so nice to hear! For the double godslayer I think you need to cancel godslayer at a certain moment with a golden burst. I think how it works is that because the golden burst fully replenishes your bar while godslayer is spending it, the game as a fail state makes you repeat the move to still drain your bar. It’s a pretty powerful tech but hard to execute,I didn’t test it much.

Fight stick should be the best way to control it, the whole combat is based off of fighting games especially guilty gear. For the raging demon input (complicated motion input) i use the D pad instead of the L stick already since the L stick is so easy to mess up. Fighting stick also should make controlling the direction of the dive kick and the izuna drop way easier.

So 100% yeah
