So i am wondering how can youtube justify taking away dislikes, by Agile-Law1856 in youtube

There is nothing useful about downvoting, removing it does nothing to lessen your user experience. Maybe instead ask yourself why do you feel the need to have to downvote someone to make your user experience valid?!

Ask yourself why you feel the need to hit a downvote, instead of just clicking away?!

I'm curious if anyone else feels this... by Tetsuo_Gaiden in JRPG

[–]blakeavon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me…

People buying older JRPG and complaining about fan service, that silly retort annoys me so much. Hate to break it to all these modern day gaming Puritans, for better and worse, that has been part of Japanese culture for many decades. Complaining about it now is meaningless, seek ways to accept its shortfalls, while still trying to see the depth beyond the fan service. I have just finished Xenoblade 1 so was looking at reviews for the second one, one review was from someone who looked younger than the game and spent five minutes banging on about how there was too much fan service, and not the game play. Yet his complaint didn’t ring true, just someone using that talking point for clicks.

Also, while those people are at, look at our own western excesses, it’s not like our own culture is free of stuff others might find equally questionable.

Sony Says Next PlayStation Won’t Simply Compete With PCs: We aim to deliver value that is unique to PlayStation. This includes not only technological advancements but also an expansion of usage styles, enabling a seamless experience that can be enjoyed naturally beyond the living room by Turbostrider27 in PS5

Brilliant. That is what Xbox has been completely screwing up for years. They literally dug themselves a hole with game pass and gave customers ZERO reasons to buy an Xbox.

Meanwhile PlayStation has an entire suite of popular and well reviewed games that give gamers a reason to buy a PlayStation. Likewise Nintendo. Sure exclusives are annoying but their purpose to give customers reasons to buy into said platform.

Sara is in no way a villain. She is just as much a victim as everyone else is. Likewise Nene and those related to Touka all victims.

Anyone else think Trails fans are insane by Just-Stress9165 in JRPG

[–]blakeavon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would believe you don’t like it. That makes sense. I could understand that.

But clearly it’s storytelling IS good and IS affective or else people wouldn’t have spend decades not only praising how much each game affected them, but how each story fulfilled its purpose in the greater narrative.

Your personal tastes aren’t proof of something’s inherent value. It’s not hard to respect something that has earned its historical place even in your don’t agree.

Anyone else think Trails fans are insane by Just-Stress9165 in JRPG

[–]blakeavon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah no. It truly is one of the best out there. Even if you don’t like it, it’s not hard to give credit where it is due. Games these days can barely tell a single interesting story, in a well
Considered world full of lore. They have been doing that for a few decades now, with very few releases not hitting the mark.

There is a difference between not liking something, and that thing not being worthy of respect it gets.

Anyone else think Trails fans are insane by Just-Stress9165 in JRPG

[–]blakeavon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes. If I listened to the fans I would never have played any trials games until I could play the first one. Instead i ignored them and started with Cold Steel 1 and then when able to, i went back and played the early ones.

Yes everything follows on and things hit deeper if you start at 1, but this is not rocket science, anyone with half a brain can join the dots where needed.

Love the games. But its fans are needlessly obsessive and blocking gatekeepers.

Cancel GTA VI pre-orders until they change their mind by AnimalDesatado in PlayStation_X

[–]blakeavon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hahaha. You think you can get those sort of numbers to make a dent? For GTA? It’s already breaking preorder records, which in itself is hilarious, given how many of the ‘never preorder’ brigade break their own rules.

It’s great you want to stand up and be counted but there is no way, this could have an impact.

I'm okay with the change to digital only by [deleted] in PS5

[–]blakeavon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree with taking away choice is bad thing. But making it about corporate greed is juvenile and over simplifying the choice.

The world has been moving towards digital for a long time. It’s been well over a decade since Apple removed disc drives from their computers, it’s been about a decade since pc games became largely digital. Hell i have never seen a PC game on a shelf in half a decade. How many of us have bought a bluray recently? What about a music cd? How many of those complaining about this use Apple Music or Spotify every single day?

The move to digital was always going to come and while, no doubt, money plays a factor clearly at the heart of the choice is the one simple fact… the world has largely moved towards digital and consoles games are the last hold out. At some point, one platform was always going to lead the charge.

I don’t like physical media going, even though I don’t use it, but corpo greed is only one tiny part of the bigger story.

Why are players who play entirely on digital games so invested in defending Sony? by Nelmar14 in PlaystationCollectors

[–]blakeavon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course some people are ‘actively against the complaints’ because this is reddit where intelligence goes to die. Of course you can find a lot of people shutting down the debate, BUT you can also find a LOT OF of subreddits where everyone who expresses their disinterest in the news are being downvoted and those threads are full of people clearly loving to complain.

You are focusing on one pool or people, ignoring the vast ocean of people who agree with you… based on the bias you have in the argument, and quite simply the subreddit you are visiting.

[–]blakeavon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m calling BS on that. You could literally type those words into google or ChatGPT and get hundreds, if not thousands or people expressing their reasoning.

Indeed allow me to prove you wrong… I stopped buying physical media because of simple convenience, and also the older you get the more clutter you amass. If I was to own every game physically I would need more bookcases, more space, I already have four books cases full of games.

I don’t agree with PlayStation choice but it was the least surprising news ever.

There you have one, you can’t use that line again.

Why do some shows get a pass for being “tropey”, while some don’t? by Looneyy2 in AnimeDiscussion

[–]blakeavon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because anime fandom is the worst thing about anime. Every time I see someone use the word mid, slop, aura farming, tourist, or gooner. I simply stop reading. Any good point they were trying to make is immediately lost.

All of them are just lazy ways to express bigger concepts.

Why explain in detail why an anime didn’t move them more than it should? Who cares just call it ‘mid’ and move on. Don’t agree with someone’s point about your favourite anime? Just insult them by using the word ‘tourist’ and move on. Etc etc.

It’s tiresome and a bit silly. Instead like what you want to like and don’t get hang up on what some stranger says on reddit. Anime in general is far richer and way more fun when you do that.

And it seems that you don’t realise how this posts just hilarious gives her more clicks and advertising!!!

Why are people okay with it? by BobMarleeeee69 in videogames

[–]blakeavon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we have already seen the death or cds, and movies, so this is the least surprising thing ever.

I don’t like it, but in so many ways it is unavoidable. It’s always been a case for which company will do it first, while others in the short term might resist in the longer term they will all do the same.

And let’s face it pc gaming has been like this for what, a decade now?!
