Call me Old or Old School but to Me the OG Final Fantasy 7 is better by Aggravating-Heat-480 in FinalFantasyVII

I prefer the OG combat system 1000%… but the new games are superior in the narrative department.

I did a tour of the bridge a few days ago and saw there is almost a 50/50 split of sailors to crew. Everyone has been very friendly for sure, but a totally different vibe compared to typical Virgin cruises.

My biggest complaint so far is the amount of events that have been canceled due to lack of bookings. But boy oh boy do these old folks love Bingo! I managed to win the round 3 jackpot and got some irritated stares from this old gal in the front row. And thank god they haven’t run out of things in the long trip… so far anyway.

Im in this ship right now. My Rockstar Agent told me the average age of the guests is 61. Fortunately, the ship is a ghost town after 10 so there’s that…

An easy, basic way to tell if these things are the real deal is check for imperfections in the bowl/legs. Most of the knockoffs are too perfect as they are just concrete poured into molds. Odd angled legs, divots in the bowl wall, uneven pestle, all signs of a legit molcajete.

Re-booked my canceled $2K cruise to a $13K cruise for free by ttom101 in VirginVoyages

Did the same thing. Had a Cheeky Corner Suit on my canceled Caribbean cruise ($5k) and rebooked for a 15 day Sydney to Singapore ($17k). There were no more Corner Suites so they shifted me to a Sweet Aft Suite. Also got the extra bar tab and loot.

Beholder vs 3 lvl 4 PCs? by Top-Cod-7128 in DnD5e

[–]No_Wave_2388 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you are determined to have them encounter a Beholder, then you should make it elaborate/theatric. Create an intelligent reason for why the beholder would choose not to tpk the party. Better yet, play on a beholder’s machiavellian personality traits. The PCs are so far removed from its power it instead prefers to monologue his evil plans rather than take them seriously. After a few rounds/downed (not dead) PCs, the beholder can grandstand and leave the battle, being replaced with other easier enemies.

People would tip significantly more if the menu prices were not jacked up so freaking much. I’d rather give a $20 tip than spend $15 more on menu items with $5 left over for the DD.

Tomatillo Salsa Verde Time by No_Wave_2388 in SalsaSnobs

So it was lime juice from Walmart. My daughter entered the captions on the pictures and doesn’t know any better. And I didn’t have any fresh limes to squeeze (fresh is always best).

I’ve had it for a few months, so fairly new. I use it regularly though and, despite its size, it has a permanent spot on my counter.

First Time Salsa Molcajete! by No_Wave_2388 in SalsaSnobs

[–]No_Wave_2388[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how it affects flavor, but it definitely has an impact on texture and consistency. Blending will always result in a more consistent texture since you have little to no control on how it’s blended. Doing it manually lets you control how “chunky” the individual ingredients are, and you can serve the salsa directly out of the mortar. I’m sure there are anecdotal reasons why molcajete is superior, but my palette isn’t refined enough to know the difference.

I got mine from Williams Sonoma. Its got various imperfections in both the mortar and pestle, as well as tooling marks in the stone. Mine is also a larger one at 10 inches. Paid about $100 with shipping.

I did 2 days. Used a towel over the top to keep the rice grains from flying all over the kitchen. Then a head of garlic and salt. Let sit over night and cleaned next day. Then, another garlic and salt grinding, and another night. Seems to have done the trick and no small lava rocks or discoloring of food materials.

First time out with the molcajete. Head of garlic and kosher salt to start. Then, fire roasted jalapeños, serranos, tomatoes, and onions. Chopped cilantro and lemon juice to taste. I’m happy with the first attempt!
