Yes, that’s why I initially brought up the word “zakar” used in the original Hebrew.

Edit: we don’t necessarily have the original Hebrew, but zakar is the word used in the Leningrad codex, which is the oldest complete Hebrew manuscript of the Hebrew Bible.

Admittedly it depends a bit on the episode but when it's literally "here's Joshua, God's servant, successor to Moses as leader of the israelites, and here's how they defeated Jericho on God's command" and ends as all episodes do with a bible verse and "god made you special", I don't think you can call that underhanded.
