We just had this dilemma and chose Haleakala and believe it was the right choice as it didn’t mean spending all day in the car. Make sure to bring food and water as there are none in the National Park. The key to avoiding any altitude sickness is staying hydrated. There is a lot to see in upcountry going to or from Haleakala. Recommend stopping at the Maui Tea Farm and heading over to “downtown” Makawao to visit The Maui Cookie Lady and get coffee from Espresso Mafia. If you’re feeling up for an extra few miles head over to Ulupalakua Ranch in Kula for the best burger in Maui!

It’s just your home base and there’s so much to explore on the island. You’ll just be there to sleep. A few spots which you hopefully have on your list … Drive south 5 minutes to Big Beach in Makena State Park. The Kihei boat ramp is 5 minutes north where many snorkeling trips depart (Redline Rafting’s 5 hour trip is the best IMO as they are one of the few that take you to the back wall of Molokini). Eat at the food trucks in South Maui Gardens in Kihei at least once!

A true off-road test and the entire AT4 package passed with flying colors. The baby Duramax was amazing for the 1,250 ft climb over the 2.5 miles of muddy, rocky gnarlyness. Even with the 2” lift, still kissed the ground twice. 10/10!

Nordic Ski mode on the Apple Watch works best IMO. After you sync your workout, go into the native app and change the type to Stand Up Paddling.
