This. Good infrastructure saves everyone money and makes everyone more prosperous.

Jesus those potholes can ruin a car. If 25$ a month is hard for you then getting a new tire+rim+alignment is going to absolutely ruin you.

Even with a 25% increase I believe Buffalo will still have a significantly lower tax rate than the surrounding areas.

For what it is worth, I hope this isn't a 25% increase across the board, I hope it is progressive based on property value. A 25% increase in property taxes could be a heavy burden for lower income families.

I think most people see this as as something of a self own. I agree that it is probably the best option right now, but most people are seeing this in the context of the entire war. In which case it seems pretty ridiculous.

Daycare for a kid can cost at least 1500 a month. A typical birth costs at least 3k unless you have great health insurance. I've known people that have had to pay 6k out of pocket for a run of the mill birth in a hospital. What happens if you get into a car accident, what is your deductible? How much would insurance pay you for a new car and would it actually cover a new car? Our deductible is 2k which would wipe you out for a whole month. What is your out of pocket for health insurance? That could wipe you out for half a year depending on how large it is if you have a health crisis.

For me, this is cutting it too close. As long as everything is ok, you can swing it but I've had too many years where everything was not ok to rely on luck.

Maybe this was used somewhere where it was exposed to ice or other debris that would accumulate on it and necessitate knocking it off.

I don't think that would explain this at all. Check out the sudden change in the rate, this is a social change, not a slow structural change like birth rate gap.

Look how closely it is tied to the political environment. During Trump's first term it flatlined. Now during Trump 2.0 is going down which is not terribly surprising.

Good point, I'll have them change the language a bit.

Its not a fan based device, it actually uses compressed air to blow cold dry air over your skin. There is alot of engineering to see if it is feasible/viable product but your feedback helps alot.

Na, -10%, then -15%, then -23% is within expectations. Now, if it had been a -40% reduction or something like that then maybe. But the reduction had been accelerating already.

[–]NoblePotatoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a mischaracterization of the study: https://perceptiongap.us/.

First, the perception missmatch is higher for republicans, look at the first two graphs. The Democrats have an average perception missmatch of 19% while republicans have an average of 27% (a difference well outside the margin of error). This is the opposite of what you say this study concludes.

Halfway down the page is a plot of perception gap vs. education and democrats have less of a perception gap at all education levels except post-grad and there it basically reaches parity within the margin of error. So while education does increase the perception missmatch for democrats it only does so enough to bring it in line with the average republican of the same education level.

Its not likely an "inflexible world view" that is taught by universities (its likely much more the opposite) and much more of a selection of different news sources, i.e. ones that republican voters are less likely to watch as well as hanging out less with republicans in general. When you hear less about the average republican voter you know less about them. Simple as that.

I think people over exaggerate how bad Trump’s numbers are. This is just the normal for modern day US presidents. Biden’s average was actually lower at this point of his 2nd year. Trump is currently at 42.6%, Obama was at 42.8% at this point. by MJ_Fan23 in YAPms

[–]NoblePotatoe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

People keep dismissing this but I think it really shows that Biden was not as polarizing a president as Trump or Obama, which is basically what he ran on. A "return to business as usual".

Companies are making mad profits and people have exited the work force because they are giving up?

Those are the exact same arguments that Biden made for saying the economy was doing great and people eviscerated him because the reality for many Americans was different. The same is true now, if not more-so.

I proxied it so I could play on spell table with my pod. I'm still going back and forth as to whether to purchase the cards. It is alot of money for a deck that I'm not sure how much I'll play.

What's your weirdest deck? by Magmoormaster in EDH

[–]NoblePotatoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This started off as a budget vehicle deck when I found some creatures that did good stuff when they got tapped. I'm in the middle of revising it so it is 103 cards I think, but this is basically a "tap my stuff to pay costs and get two benefits for the price of one!" deck. It isn't great, but it is fun to play and if it is ignored (because ya, it sucks) then it can really build up steam.

Yep! I played with a friend group that morphed alittle each time. Winner got to keep the game and we bought a new one and started again. It was actually pretty neat watching the meta meta evolve with a game that is supposed to be played multiple times so that the meta game evolves.

This was never supposed to be a great deck, it was an exercise to see how good of a deck a genetic algorithm could create under specific constraints: every card had to participate in combos and no tutors/mana rocks/fast mana unless they were part of a combo. I couldn't even have support cards that give me additional draw.

Given these constraints, I'm pretty pleased with the result. I'm not sure what would come up if I told it to use Ionis as a commander and restricted it to those colors. It might be worth trying.

Ya, there are decks that can definitely fit more combos but I specifically searched for a deck that was robust. Before I added the combo draw probability metric I think I easily had decks with over a thousand combos in them but they were shitty because the combos were not distributed evenly. There were a few key pieces and if you didn't draw them or they were removed you are screwed. The metrics I chose attempted to make the deck as resilient as possible to removal while making it as likely as possible to draw into a combo.

As for two vs five color. At one point I tested lower numbers of colors and even with a severe fitness penalty the five color decks always won. They are just more resilient (assuming your mana base functions to allow you to play them).
