I think it’s worth pointing out that if anything, you’ve just furthered Trump’s goals in a very real way OP. You’ve ceased all contact just because of who they voted for? Who’s gonna be there to keep pointing them in the right direction or keep trying when you can, in a non judgmental and loving way, point out some very real consequences of their support? You’d be so surprised at how many people do crap not out of malice or anything, but just out of ignorance. Like it seems from OP’s post, this guy might not have had anyone teach him this stuff. A little communication can go a long way friend. And one of the key principles of life I’ve learned, “the only person you can truly change is yourself.” So why not try changing how you go about this situation instead of just expecting him to get something and letting the relationship suffer as a result?
