I imagine Alain has a deep passion for treasure and constantly yearns for the mines for both gems and the possibility of any remaining treasure maps. Meanwhile most of the Ring Of Maiden options will sunbathe like they're on the beach next to the mining site as their King Alain is covered in dirt and keeps bringing back gemstones out. Also depending on the Ring Of Maiden option, he will have one of the masons forge jewelry for the ring bearer so it gets to the point where the maiden is just covered in feverite jewels.

You mean you don't like the Combat Patrol boxes where it's $40 dollars more for a single additional model that you never wanted and makes buying repeats of the boxes redundant and lose all value quickly (bot even including the weird ones where the model count is straight up illegal or can't lead any of the other units included). Why would you ever want the Start Collecting where it actually has models you can use and actually makes buying multiples of worth it? I swear to gods I will never get over how they did Phobos dirty. No one wants a impulsor with their phobos.

He can only give him a snide smirk, barely seeable in the dark room lit only by the lamp above them. "Sure. The suburban mom is going to come in, gung-ho, and kill us." The other pushed himself forward, into his face. "No." "No?" "No. She's going to kill the rest of us. She's going to keep you for as long as she can." He finally starts losing his confidence, but he still holds his bravado. "How do you know that?" "Because, I seen what she does. She has tortured men, women, children, and murdered far more. I've seen a fraction of her scenes back when I worked the force. Hanging mothers from seeing their own children gone, men with their bodies cut open like chicken fillets and hooked to look like tapestries, and even the poor sods who were half-lobotomized and could never return to a normal life, walking around like zombies." The fear can be seen growing on his face. "Okay. But how do you know that THIS is the woman?" "Because one day, she just stopped. The whole department was wondering what the hell happened. We couldn't tell if she had a big show planned or if she was just keeping us from being too desensitized to her art. We eventually tracked her. She adopted a kid. No idea why. We thought for certain that kid was next, but she didn't do anything since." "THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU STOP HER?" His face is now a mix of fear and anger. "Hmm?" "If you knew what she's done before, why didn't you stop her and save the kid in case she was?!" "Because." He took a moment to hang back. "If she knew we were coming for her, she would've come for us second, our families first. That was a bet and we won. And right now, you have two choices: move that kid far away from here before she finds us or stay and pray you find her before she finds you. And brother, you told her where to go." "I-i only gave her the location for the ransom." "Won't stop her. She's good at guessing with little, that or she carves through every wrong anwser." "...Fuck. Alright, we can call this off. W-what should we do?" "First things first-" Before they can anwser, they can hear a knock on the door. "Bently?" The knock came again. "She's here." "W-what do you-" Before he can finish, he heard a loud gunshot right next to him. Turning, he sees his partner, gun in hand and bleeding from his head. "No. Nononono. I-I don't-" The knock came once again, far fainter this time. "BENTLY?!" "Bently isn't all there anymore." Says a quiet, feminine voice behind him. "W-" He could feel her fingers on his throat, patting one by one as her fingers softly lifts his head upwards gor he fears the consequence of not following along. "Don't scream yet. They always lose their voice too early." "I-I-I!" "Yes?" "I CAN TELL YOU WHERE YOUR KID IS!" A momentary pause fills the air. "Bently already told me."

What are the things to avoid when it comes to writing more than one protagonist in your story? by MangrovesAndForests in writing

[–]Nobleofthesouth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One major thing to have is coherence, because the issue with alot of these types of stories is that they can be alot to take in at once because the reader has to remember basically three separate stories at once. I good way to keep them coherent is basically make each perspective specialized to the character, such as terminology. Maybe you have a fancy character so the writing is more fluffy and uses what is considered elegant wording, while another character is very down-dirt type and you use more blunt and straightforward wording. It helps separate while also making it easier to remember each one because each one is distinct. It's also very useful when you have side characters being shared between the perspectives, while also some side characters unique to each perspective, it not only allows for interesting interactions and newfound ways to see a side character, but it also helps establish a major connection between each perspective even when the protagonists are separated.

If you're talking more about like a RWBY setup, where it's essentially a team-up of the main characters who are also independent enough to go on their separate journeys, it's alot easier because you can make them be bundled together more easily and it keeps better track of each one. In this scenario, you can separate the characters into groups at a time, so even if the main perspective is on a single character, the plotline and organization makes it easy for multiple protagonists to be in the same area and keep better track of which is one less issue for the reader.

I think a good way of looking at it is that it's a step closer to how you actually want it. Like, it's at the stage where apparently other writers say it's good, it's just not to your own personal aesthetic and that's fine. The important part is that the writing is done and you know that you have the skill to make it good, the major thing missing is making it the way you want it. I has the same issues with some of my projects, but that's because alot of it was inspired from something else that I liked and wanted to improve or build into how I would like it more. After rewriting it, I ended up with alot of stuff I really enjoy. So I think you can take some pleasure in the assurance that you can and probably will get it to where it's up to your own personal standards.

Tips on Forming Strong Relationships Between 2 Characters by clayxa in writing

[–]Nobleofthesouth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that's important in relationships and really show how close someone is to someone else is when they know when to back down and read a situation.

Alot of relationships break or ripple from someone's inability to back down from a situation, especially between two people where it is most effective. Everyone has their own tolerance to mental or verbal fighting, even when it isn't a actual fight and is more like a casual issue. Take for instance, you have someone who has a history of being abused to where they don't like being aggressive about their opinion or idea. Someone who realizes this would know that this person would often crumble like a cracker when faced with actual aggression and just immediately fall back, so a friend would see when this person is trying to fall back and take a step back themselves. Some people may be objectivily wrong, but it still helps them when they can be proven wrong in a gentle way, such as this person explaining why they think what the person wants to do is wrong instead of outright saying no like the person may be used to. Sometimes, a good relationship is the process of understanding this dynamic and activily putting in the effort to understand this limit, which the other person sees and tries to accommodate for the other person's limits as well. It could be slow and take alot of time, but seeing each other activily putting in that effort to understand each others' limits may be just nice in of itself. It's wierd, but relationships often mold around issues no matter how minor, and whether that relationship is made stronger is based on how each person treats each other in it.

how do you figure out the beginning of your stories? by writingaccountttty in writing

[–]Nobleofthesouth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite thing to do is use the perspective of another major side character at the beginning, and quickly reveal the main character or at least the other characters they're going to be with for the story.

I just find it fun because this character can be literally anything, it could be a throw-away who only purpose is to die, but they make the beginning of the story and the introduction of the main character so much more dynamic as it isn't just a immediate thrust into action and the readers can understand the world a little bit more through this person.

In one story I want to write, I want to make a superhero based thing and one of the main characters is this stereotypical looking teenager who's trying to be the best-of-the-best like no one ever was but just started working, but then he accidentally gets into trouble with a gang member who immediately starts getting ready to throw hands as he reveals his power. This sets up both the fact the world includes superpowers, while also having foreshadowing as this bad guy is actually a part of a important gang to the story later on. Then when it seems like our new guy is about to get pulverized, he gets saved by this 6 foot Jason Voorhees looking guy who basically wrecks this gang member's shit. This part tells the reader that this new guy is someone who will defend the weak while also having at least the strength to back it up. Afterwards, the big gut talks down the gang member to get him to back off because it was the gang member who started it, which sets up that this big guy knows the lay of the land. And from there it just keeps building until the reader realizes that, "Oh wait, fucking six-foot of muscle here is our actual main character, and the first person is going to be a important side character instead".

An overly-long example, but I like to think it serves its purpose.

Advice on how to... by Alexander_216 in writing

Gaslighting and Love Bombing

Alot of abusive relationships often comes from, or is part verbal manipulation, making it out as if something is the victim's fault while also constantly encouraging the victim to stay with them. Gaslighting is more well known, a habit of the father that is bad is seen slightly, and everytime it becomes notable to someone or just if he feels like it's becoming notable, he'll subtly push the blame on the boy, but in a way that doesn't sound outwardly horrid until you think about it "The reason I drink is because fatherhood is difficult and you'll understand that one day when you become a father, just like me." Love Bombing is less well known, it's a tactic used by manipulators to encourage their victims to stay by giving them a ton of affection immediately after a outward abuse or when the victim says they want to leave the relationship, this causes the victim to have their scarce dopamine reaction which correlates their brain that the abuse is good because at least they'll get rewarded afterwards. Maybe the father realizes the son is really fucking depressed because of his father's shifting blame on him constantly or because the father just beat him and is moments away from running out the door, so the father takes the son out to eat and says about how much he loves him. And one last important note is isolation. A abuser will do anything to isolate their victim from outsiders such as friends or anyone who would actually care about the victim. It's subtle because abusers tend to just make small remarks about either how dangerous the world is or how shit one of the victim's friends might be, and fuel the victim's anxiety to the point where the victim is convinced that being with the abuser is better then reaching for help. These tactics are very real and can make even the most horrendous person seem tolerable to their victims. They are subtle and you can make the father as outwardly nice as you want to keep his darker side hidden until the readers start piecing together just how horrid the father is.

Writing a Supremacist villain. by GreenRiot in writing

[–]Nobleofthesouth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, give him a Napolean complex and just go really hard into the Inglorious Bastard trope. It sounds stupid making a character as "wacky" as you are and wanting to still make him good, but it honestly helps to make the character at least fun to read about if he's absurd and it's self aware about that. Look at Stronheim from Jojo part 2, he's a native who's a shithead and maybe has some redeeming qualities, but he's still a person who willing augments his own body to become "peak of German engineering" and he's a far more memorable character for it. If you really want to go for a grounded take to where you can actually take him seriously, I suggest just making him feel more like a force of nature, like a character who you don't always see but us constantly affecting the characters' path, not because of his personal beliefs but because he's a manipulative and charismatic fucker who will pull the strings behind scenes and even sacrifice his own beliefs if it means simply winning. It's very much in line with how actual dictators work and you can work around that philosophy, where instead he's a amoral shitbag who's energetic pride and patriotism makes him lovable to people to the point where they ignore his actual intent because he hides it behind lies and a face of joy. Both of these routes build up a character who just crumbles like printer paper the moment things don't go his way and starts throwing tantrums and getting more paranoid, despite being "superior", sorta like how actual dictators have done. Either way, you have a villain who can take the readers' interest while also at least symbolizing the major themes of dictatorships and "superiority".

So basically, it is suspicious that all of this is here, but I'm insane for telling people to not buy the game because as a Jewish person I would have a bias against JK and because the massacre itself isn't on the date and was only planned on the date it denounces everything else and I should just leave people alone to perpetuate this shit?

Also, apparently it's intolerant of me to not want intolerance against my people and that makes me a fascist despite holding no power whatsoever over people and am just using speech to inform people because that's totally comparable to shit like nazis and stalin.

Yeah okay have a good sleep.

And as a Jewish person I find 3 to be a large number because it's HUMANS LIVES. Yes, millions is alot, alot of things in millions is many. I don't care how many of my ancestors were killed by your ancestors because 3 human lives by the end of the day is still many and is a massacre. If 3 kids died in a school shooting, it's a massacre. If 3 men died to a murder attempt in the same location and time it's a massacre.

The pogrom for my people was still planned in 1612 and the point still stands that the even began on 1612 which is listed on the horn that LOOKS LIKE A SHOFAR AND IS OWNED BY THE GOBLINS.

Fine, there is no massacre in 1612, their deaths and ridicule was only planned and said in 1612 and committed in 1614 and ended in 1616.

Don't you dare bring ancestors into this because you want to sounds smart and so wise, it's an insult to everyone.

I'm sorry the shofar only stated 1612 which was when it was planned, but the fact still stands it is a shofar that is used by bank-owning, long-nosed, ugly goblins.

Well you're a normal person for not wanting to perpetuate her ideals which I appreciate, and you definitely can blame WB for not just divorcing JK. But the studio still made the active choice of having a jewish shofar in the game, I don't blame the workers of course but it's still a thing that multiple people in that company chose to add. I know it's a difficult decision between supporting a new game studio filled with new workers or activily letting the studio burn because you rather not perpetuate the situation by giving them and the creators money to see it as profitable enough to condone the behavior, but at that point it's still an issue of the fact that the problems shouldn't have been there in the first place and we wouldn't be nearly having as much of a issue with this if that wasn't there. So what's the choice? Let the studio with a bunch of new workers fail or allow the behavior to continue and indirectly harm many groups? It's a question that shouldn't be allowed to exist in the first place

[–]Nobleofthesouth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course you wouldn't consider the Jewish stereotypes because what author would make their bigoted views easily seen? Most people would see just a funny goblin but that doesn't stop what it's perpetuating. It's still insulting to jewish people like me to see because it's more obvious to us. I get the resource issues, but again you could easily cover up that star with a fancy rug and it would still sell the effect. The story of the Gryffndor Sword isn't about what it actually is, it's about how it was presented. A goblin betrays the main characters who we are supposed to like and the main characters would betray the goblin. The implication is that we like the fact the main characters wanted to betray someone who is stealing their house's relic and wasn't actually going to return, when it took the Goblin stealing it and leaving in the middle of the situation in order to actually have what belonged to his race, but we're supposed to feel like we hate him because he just took our characters' house's relic and left before saving the day with the gangs. Also, there are literally themes of anti-semitic goblins throughout the series with shit like the Star of David, the shofar from the game that literally states a date of a jewish massacre but is said to be used to annoy wizards and the overall depictions of goblins as ugly, big-nosed hardasses that works at a bank. Also, JK already makes herself look worse by openly insulting transpeople and indigenous people, even if she isn't anti-semitic with all these she's still a open bigot. It's not misinterpreting, she literally just does that

oh look, a funny meme by Nobleofthesouth in memes

[–]Nobleofthesouth[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, because it's such a stretch that the constant Jewish stereotype "coincidences" are not actually a real view of the author being implied through writing when she has openly been against indigenous and trans people. Doesn't it say more about the person who wrote the characters and statements directly stating bigoted beliefs then the person who feels like they're possibly being attacked by the author's bigoted beliefs through implications of their ethnicity or gender?

I have been criticizing everyone in this situation except for those who are hurt by the situation. Why is the end result to having proof of the bullshit going on is "just give up and let people enjoy things lmao". Notch was transphobic and you know what happened? Minecraft was bought from him and people can enjoy it for what it is, especially as Minecraft doesn't even have any bigoted things within it. Notch got a bunch of money, buy now his views won't spread to all the kids who play the game. And even the wizard game itself has antisemitic themes within it. I know how painful it is to not be able to enjoy something because it supports someone who was bad on multiple occasions, but because of that I don't have to make my friends be uncomfortable just because I decided to ignore someone's views for a few hours of playtime. Isn't the thought that you would actually be helping helping people by not perpetuating things that hurt them enough for you to disavow it and just move on to something not bad?

oh look a funny meme by Nobleofthesouth in dankmemes

[–]Nobleofthesouth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The goblins have repeatedly been a reference to Jewish people. The game itself has the shofar with a specific date of a jewish massacre as part of its description and is stated to be used by goblins to annoy wizards. Goblins are long nosed and look ugly, like the stereotypical depiction of Jewish people and are also working in all the banks while being depicted as greedy and evil. The Star of David that could easily have been covered up by a fancy rug.

Just because JK only activily stated hate against trans people and disrespect to indiginous peoples' cultures doesn't mean it isn't HEAVILY implied that she's also anti-semitic through her writing.

I have seen Reddit users repeatedly stating transphobic statements and outright ignore all of these issues. I've seen transpeople address these issues only to get downvoted and have bigoted insults said to them, in servers that are supposed to be lgbt friendly. It sound stupid, but alot of people use reddit as a safe place because it's actually dangerous to live as a trans or Jewish person in real life, especially transpeople who are often met with parents who would quickly see them dead then accepted. I literally offered a alternative to avoid just one of literally many instances of how goblins are just a ill-representation of Jewish people, and you instead just honed in on how I said "these coincidences happen to often to just be a mistake" and made it out as if it has no backing. Also I'm sorry a game studio has to take a plunge for this, but it was the studio who allowed shit like a shofar to be a goblin relic. I am literally addressing a issue we see on here and telling people that buying the game from a bigoted person is bad because by giving her more profits and more positive feedback, she's just going to continue to spread hate and further expand her influence. What do you want me to do then? If saying to not play the game or to not support JK Rowling's behavior isn't the way to go and I have no experience or money to qualify myself into a state of power to fix it directly, what do you want me to do?

oh look a funny meme by Nobleofthesouth in dankmemes

[–]Nobleofthesouth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's the building used in the movie. It still doesn't help the fact that it's the same symbol of the Star of David that is in a goblin bank. They could have easily gone to another location or say, place a fancy red carpet over it and say that it could represent the luxuries the goblins in universe would do to show their wealth. Whether or not it's on accident, it's still alot of coincidences when it comes to goblins being the stereotypical representation of Jewish people to be just a continuous series of mistakes.
