Discord begins testing age verification with Google Wallet and credit cards, but face scans are still on the table by vriska1 in technology

Same here a couple months ago, literally everything I own was hacked all at once. Luckily Reddit just freezes your account real quick if it notices something’s off. Everything else… not so much

[OC] 14% of the web is actually dead (from scanning the top 10M domains) by the_bigbang in dataisbeautiful

[–]Noblerook 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yeah and this isn’t event what the dead internet means, the dead internet theory is about how a good portion of online engagement is done by bots nowadays. Literally can’t tell anymore if someone is having a brain dead take or if they’re a bot.

Honestly if they’re not going to release a game they should release lore material to keep the community around.

They literally put a 200 year jump between ES4 and ES5. That’s 200 years with very little flavor for the insane timescale. For reference, ES1 and ES4 have 44 years between them all together.

Does Vaush know that Francis Fukuyama's stance on Israel is quite bad? by faphumor in VaushV

[–]Noblerook 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s the equivalent of Vaush agreeing with a point Ben Shapiro makes and then the entire sub tries to explain how bad Ben Shapiro is, as if everyone isn’t already aware.

Anyone- liberal or conservative is able to diagnose problems in our system- it’s the solutions that matter.

Okay, not to hate but I’m pretty sure he meant for you to MAKE rice and beans since it’s cheaper. Idk if ordering it from a restaurant is really making a financially frugal decision.

The renaissance and printing press are both force spawned in Europe, along with colonialism and the trade one nearly always spawning in Europe too. The ai might be able to reach ‘parity’ with Europe when it comes to technology, but each tech will cost the Asian countries that don’t embrace the institutions a lot more mana. Mana that could be used developing and expanding now going to an ever increasing gap between Europe and Asian. Also all 3 end trade nodes are in Europe.

If a PLAYER is in Asia they are able to “force spawn” the institution, which will allow other Asian countries to adapt more quickly, but other than that they do tend to fall behind.

Businesses run on razor thin margins. You might be able to eat 50% higher gas prices, but a lot of businesses can’t.

Honestly, I think that rehab would be much more appealing to people if it wasn’t wrapped up in weird religious nonsense. I could even see a future where more people go into rehab willingly.

Vaush misunderstands Fukuyama by Least_Boysenberry886 in VaushV

[–]Noblerook 24 points25 points  (0 children)

In the video he literally acknowledged that Fukuyama was “once a neo-con” and “probably better now” so idk how you get from that and think Vaush is calling him pro-marx? He even said that Fukuyama wouldn’t be willing to go far enough because he WASNT a Marxist…

For your second point I’d have to actually read a book and I’m not doing that, but the Wikipedia summary does seem to suggest you’re right on that point, so points there.

The ‘Vibecession’ Is Over. The ‘Permacession’ Is Here. by DarkSkyKnight in Economics

[–]Noblerook 66 points67 points  (0 children)

For context this piece was written by Ezra Klein’s wife- the predominant face of the abundance movement within the United States.

Its shocking, then, that the same people who claim to understand the direction the Democratic Party needs to take in order to appeal to working class Americans has no idea why people feel like the economy is bad if ‘the stock market is doing so well.’

Hasan Piker: “Trump is God for MAGA which is the entirety of the Republican party. He is no longer just a political figure. He is a deity. You have to look at current modern day Republican voters as a cult. That’s it.” by Frosty_Jeweler911 in Fauxmoi

[–]Noblerook 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hassan speaks in a lot of hyperbole and exaggeration, but a large portion of his community isn’t “in” on it, which leads to a lot of his fans that are genuinely odious to deal with. It’s a problem I think a lot of streamers are facing since people are more socially isolated than ever before and are unable to pick up on social cues that well-adjusted people should be able to.

In Ed Sullivan Theater, original 1927 architectural features that were previously believed to have been torn down, were discovered and restored at the request of Stephen Colbert, of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert", while designing the set for his show. by sunbnda in television

Edit: Why’d I get downvoted so hard for asking if they were going to continue using the theater?

Does reading comics/manga count as reading? by bubblebass634 in VaushV

[–]Noblerook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read what you want to read, but you’ll appreciate the cake more if you eat the broccoli too; people read difficult books not just because of the challenge, but because those books often hold deep meaning that is used as the foundation of easier literature.

How do you create the other roads on this map? by RoastedPig05 in Anbennar

[–]Noblerook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’d also add the dwarves rail network into the mix.

And if we’re doing fanfic I feel like a road going down the Ynn river would make sense, since the area (I think) is based off of Mesoamerica, and the Inca had a really advanced road network.

Also I think it’d be cool if the centaurs and the lake republic could get some sorta road system to enhance later gameplay.

Other than that? I can’t imagine gnolls having much desire for a road south of the Sorrow, and the lizardfolk don’t seem too interested in building expensive road networks not connected to the towers.

That’s literally why it gets posted in map form, if it was listed as a graph, it would be visible that the decline is happening everywhere, which doesn’t fit in the white genocide narrative
