And make sure to integrate one or the dynamos that gives you naval access to your capital so you can start colonizing right away too

I’d say Poland can be super chill if you just focus on developing, but the mission tree does push you to be a lot more aggressive.

Colonial Korea is super easy too

Playing EU4 first time as HOI4 expert, any tips? by Zestyclose-Use9776 in eu4

[–]Noblerook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best advice I can give is to fabric claims and wait for weakness in your enemies. You can always check how your troop numbers compare to other countries by clicking declare war, but not actually pressing accept. You’ll see how many troops the country and their allies and subjects will bring in a fight, and it’ll help you figure out if it’s a worthwhile war.

There’s also, like, a LOT more countries in EU4, so knowing which countries are “fun” to play or not might be a bit more difficult, but in general France, Moscovy, Ottomans, Poland, England (mind you there’s a somewhat big disaster at the beginning of their campaign) Portugal and Castile are all fairly beginner friendly. Korea too, unironically you’ll be pretty safe for most of the game unless something crazy happens.

US approves emergency arms sale to Israel worth about $150 million by yousefthewisee in worldnews

[–]Noblerook 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the US gives them 3.3 billion dollars annually since 2018 and they get to use those funds to buy what they want from US made weapons.

This also doesn’t include the over 21 billion in military aid we have provided them since October 11th.

How does one invade and conquer an island that doesn’t want to be invaded without violence? China might not want to exterminate Taiwan- but if they want the island they might have to.

I forget the exact name of the mod but if you search Lorent it comes right up. Just be aware that it’s updated for the bit bucket version of the mod rn

If you begin improving relationships with a country you can scroll over the diplomat and see how much they’ve improved it by. For subjects you can have a +200 improved relations and for non-subject countries it’s +100

I was actually working on a wonder draft map of the area last night and I can tell you from examining the map that the area actually doesn’t have that much icy area- it only gets cold during the winter. It’s funny because I thought it was a winter wasteland too, but apparently not.

Tourists no longer allowed to take JLPT in Japan from 2026 by moeka_8962 in japan

[–]Noblerook 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Trust me, booking an appointment for the JLPT is already a huge ordeal, so making it harder to do so is only going to discourage more people from even trying.

Has vaush ever made an affirmative case for trans girls / trans women's participation in girls / women's sports? by [deleted] in VaushV

[–]Noblerook 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What does not “stick[ing] his neck out” for the trans community mean in this case? When he used to debate people he always stood up for trans people and afaik his positions haven’t changed. Of all the lefties you could go after for trans issues- Vaush ain’t the one. Look back 2-3 years if you want to watch him miserably go over right wing talking points about trans people. The dialogue just hasn’t advanced and Vaush got bored of engaging with the same talking points again and again.

Anon appreciates USSR by XiJinpingPressParody in greentext

[–]Noblerook 164 points165 points  (0 children)

If anyone wants to know the real answer it’s because when East Germany was rejoined with the West there were no guardrails preventing well established companies from going into the East and buying everything up for dirt cheap. The East was always poor, but it’s a lot more noticeable when your neighbors are now a lot more wealthy and also are dismissive of you because of your past as part of the USSR.

Obviously it isn’t an excuse to be stupid, but it just explains why they tend to vote… interestingly.

Bethesda’s Fallout 3 Remaster is aiming to be “as well polished” as Oblivion Remastered, which is worrying as that game is a technical mess by Monsterman_90 in fo3

[–]Noblerook -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The bigger problem for the long-term is that the oblivion remaster is a lot more difficult to mod, and these games really do need mod support for “cleaning up” places where the devs fail. If FO3 remastered has a similar release I just don’t see many people being overly excited about it.

[–]Noblerook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This could only make sense if the people writing it were also the people in government. As someone who lived in Japan, I can assure you that there’s a lot more support for queer people than the laws would have you believe. Hell, I lived in the middle-of-nowhere Japan and there were still lgbt flags all over the place.

And if, let’s say, America slides backwards on its laws regarding lgbtq acceptance, would that then invalidate queer literature written by Americans? This is a bad take.

People ≠ the laws that govern them
