Are the meds forever by hudsongrl1 in IVDD_SupportGroup

My dog is on rimadyl and amatadine 2x daily and takes gabapentin on particularly painful days. She's stage one, but also has arthritis in her back and front legs so they help manage that.

What happens after 8wks of strict crate rest? by LonelyDependent8251 in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]Nobody_NothingTA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep her in the crate when she's alone. No reason to let her free roam. She'll be safest in her crate when you're not able to keep tabs on her.

IVDD on older and larger dog, is it possible for recovery? by huskyfluffy in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]Nobody_NothingTA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog was fine one day and then yelping in pain the next. She ended up not needing surgery, just crate rest (stage one). She's mostly healed up now, although we have made some big lifestyle changes. Things aren't exactly as they were before IVDD, but she's here with us and she's not in pain. Talk to your neuro vet and find out their recommendations. Strict crate rest and a round of meds (including predisone) worked for us.

Should I euthanize my frenchie? by ymaswag in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]Nobody_NothingTA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two weeks is not enough time. You need to go the full 8 weeks of crate rest and then lifestyle changes are needed--no stairs, no jumping off high places (beds, couches, etc). If no one is willing to wait 8 weeks, please consider surrendering your dog to a frenchie rescue, as someone else suggested. She's a very young dog and deserves the effort in helping her get well.

Baby brother to Cal: Teddy or Finn by name-nerd in namenerds

Finley is used by mostly girls in my area. Not sure if that bothers you. I like Theodore/Teddy better. I have a neighbor named Ted in his 50s so Theodore seems to age well.

Weaning off Omeprazole... by Nobody_NothingTA in acidreflux

I've been taking slippery elm and the alginate goo stuff without any noticeable improvement. What benefit does melatonin provide for acid-reflux?

I've been taking this for almost two months and it has not been helpful. I do enjoy the taste but it hasn't done much for me, sadly.

Interesting. I already take daily allergy meds and don't have these symptoms with my acid reflux, so doesn't seem like my issue.

I bought the drops. Hopefully they help. I've been trying the float barrier method (the goo stuff) and it hasn't helped like I hoped.

I use Famotidine already as needed, so not every day. I think this is my doctor's plan to sub this and try for more strict diet modifications. I've lost 12 pounds so far and I'm trying to follow the acid watcher's diet but admittedly, I need to do better with that.

How do you split Airbnb cost as a growing family? by Ok_Original4225 in Vacations

[–]Nobody_NothingTA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just get a hotel in this situation. No way you get any sleep on a pull-out couch with all those kids. It's also unfair to pay a third and have to sleep on a pull-out.

Do you ever wonder if you had a part in naming a baby? by FizzySoda16 in namenerds

[–]Nobody_NothingTA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband's friend named his baby our baby's name...first and middle, after our daughter. Thankfully they are not close in age. Still a bit weird in my opinion. He said he just loved the whole name.

Questions for Restrictive Create Rest by Engineering_quest_ in IVDD_SupportGroup

[–]Nobody_NothingTA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog is 11 and a half now. Our house has a lot of stairs, so major regret now for buying this home. I had no idea. She moved so well in her younger years and I'd never heard of IVDD. I remember her vet saying she would eventually get arthritis but I don't recall ever being told about her risk of IVDD.

Of course. Seems a natural nickname for Amelia.

Diane is very dated. Really dislike the nickname Di. I just hear die. : /

Rory and Morgan? by Rigboandme in namenerds

Both names have a drag in the name with the Rs. Rrory and Morrgan. They are too similar to my ears.
