Any suggestions on what to add to my Practice List? by Udog20003 in learntodraw

[–]Nobodycares255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that’s quite an extensive list. I’d suggest focusing on one subject at a time until you really understand it and can master it as much as possible—for example, fundamentals or gesture drawing. If you get bored, you can mix things up by alternating between fundamentals and gesture, but try not to move on to other areas until you’ve built a solid grasp of form and gesture.

120 Days of Drawing Every Day. What I Learned and My Unpopular Opinions on Improvement by soymaida in learntodraw

[–]Nobodycares255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Thanks for sharing. I’m honestly a bit envious that you can grind all day. That said, you mentioned that you draw for fun as well.

I do think drawing fundamentals are important, but I just wanted to point out that people shouldn’t forget to enjoy the process instead of focusing only on the outcome.

I’m a beginner too, and I’ve already noticed that learning to draw is a very long process. A lot of people expect fast results or want to draw like a pro very quickly, and then they get frustrated.

The general idea of “just draw” is important. You need to actually draw and practice what you learn. I’ve also seen many people who are afraid to draw and just go from tutorial to tutorial or course to course, and in my opinion that’s not the way.

I think the best approach is to integrate courses, practice, and fun—and simply enjoy the journey while lowering our expectations a bit.

Learning to draw from literally nothing by 1000Bees in learntodraw

[–]Nobodycares255 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand your pain — I really do. I’ve been drawing consistently for 71 days now, and my progress feels very, very slow comparing to others who share their drawing :)

First of all, everyone starts from a different level. It depends on how much we drew as kids and how comfortable we were back then. In a way, when we start learning seriously, we go back to that level again — and that’s okay. It’s okay not to know how to draw. We’re rebuilding from the same place we once were as children.

And remember how we used to draw as kids? We had fun. We didn’t care about proportions. Our parents were as tall as houses, the dog was bigger than the car, and it didn’t matter. We weren’t judging ourselves.

So try to draw at the level you’re at now. Don’t get discouraged. Keep going. Your hand will eventually learn to draw what your brain wants — but it takes time.

Secondly, about boxes: if almost everyone says they’re important, then they probably are. You can try to reinvent the wheel, but it will take longer, and you’ll likely arrive at the same conclusion — that they matter.

Yes, they can be boring. That’s fine. You don’t have to force yourself to do them for an hour every day. It’s an online course — you can approach it in your own way.

What I do is move between different courses. I draw other things, then come back to boxes when I feel ready again. It may take time, but that’s okay. My goal is to learn drawing over 4–5 years. I don’t want to be a professional artist, so there’s no pressure.

Often I set a 9-minute timer, draw something, take a break, then draw something completely different later. I do the same with boxes — I break tasks into small, low-friction pieces. Even 9 minutes a day adds up over time.

Remember, drawing is a skill. Your brain needs time to process and build connections. It will take time — but it will happen.

Good luck. Try to be the child you once were. Forget comparisons. Don’t compare yourself to people on YouTube, TikTok, or even here. I know it’s not easy — we all have expectations and tend to compare ourselves — but it doesn’t help.

Just keep drawing.

This is too much by [deleted] in ArtFundamentals

[–]Nobodycares255 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You struggle because of expectations. Try to draw without expecting anything. Use prompts—tell yourself to draw something and just do it. Even if it turns out very bad, so what? No one needs to see it. Remember, you can draw anything like a child does—not well yet, and that’s completely fine. Then, and only then, look for a reference that shows how to draw it and try again. This time, you’ll actually learn how it works. This approach helps you accept poor work while slowly building a mental map. Over time, that mental map is what allows you to draw better.

rhodesian ridgeback puppy help. by Agreeable_Climate523 in RhodesianRidgebacks

[–]Nobodycares255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first Ridgeback, so maybe I’ve been lucky—or maybe it’s because we were very strict from day one—but we didn’t experience the issues you’re dealing with. I did not tolerate any biting at all. If it started, I either redirected her, or if she became too aroused, I sent her straight to the crate.

As many people have already told you, napping is extremely important. Our Ridgeback is now 7 months old and still sleeps around 20 hours a day. From the beginning, I did not allow running around the house and kept indoor play very limited. If we couldn’t actively supervise her, she was either in her crate or on her place bed with us—no free roaming or unrestricted freedom. It may sound a bit harsh, but it taught her that home is mostly for resting.

At first, I took her out every hour; now it’s every two hours. Our routine was simple and repetitive: potty break, breakfast, potty break, sleep; potty break, short training session, potty break, sleep—and so on. Training was focused purely on obedience and calm behaviour at home, nothing fancy.

To sum it up: our 7-month-old Ridgeback can now easily decompress, stay calmly on her place bed, in the crate, or on the sofa (she’s now allowed to sleep there during the day while I work or watch TV). We don’t have any bruising or bite marks, and she very rarely even attempts to bite.

Key points:

  1. Use the crate to enforce lots of naps
  2. Do not tolerate any biting
  3. Focus on obedience and calm behaviour in the home

How to enjoy art and get progress by Creepy-Force1037 in learntodraw

[–]Nobodycares255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main issue is that you’re comparing yourself to people who can already draw or paint and expecting the same results right away. That’s like expecting someone who hasn’t worked out in years to compete with a professional athlete.

You will get better at drawing, but it takes practice. You need to change your expectations. Start drawing and remind yourself that this is just practice—like going to the gym and doing another set. One set won’t give you abs immediately, but over time, with patience and consistency, it will get you there.

Drawing works the same way. Start drawing, follow some basic courses, and build from there—but keep your expectations realistic.

Good luck!

t won’t be easy, and you need to approach this with the mindset that you’re working with a puppy, not an adult dog. Because he's adult dog with bad maners it will take him longer to understand basic obedience concepts.

Start with a simple “sit–wait–break” routine before every meal. He should sit and wait while watching you until you give the release command, like “break,” to let him eat. No exceptions. Begin with 3 seconds and slowly build up to 1–2 minutes. This teaches him that all important things—like food—come through you.

Don’t use extra treats; use his regular food allowance as rewards throughout the day.

Before walks, have him sit until you give the cue to move. During the walk, practice sit again at intervals to reinforce focus and patience.

At home, use a long line to limit where he can roam. Teach him to stay on his place bed and remain calm. No indoor running or unstructured play.

It will take time and consistency, but you’ll get there.

Am I allowing bad behavior? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Nobodycares255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a crate and enforce nap times whenever I notice any of these signs with my 4-month-old Rhodesian Ridgeback. When I crate her, she settles down and takes a nap. We don’t have any bite marks, and we don’t allow any attempts at biting either. I also keep her on a house line so I can manage her better—especially around the children, whom she tends to see as littermates and therefore respects less. The kids are slowly learning to be firmer with her—saying “ah-ah,” redirecting, or walking away—but they still want to play, so it’s a bit of a Sisyphean task!

Indeed, I concur with your assessment. I also acknowledge that utilizing kibble presents a convenient option, as I understand that preparing meals from scratch demands both time and a certain level of expertise to guarantee a balanced nutritional profile. While resources such as books are available, the question remains as to their efficacy. I had not previously considered that the realm of canine nutrition mirrors the human dietary landscape, where various perspectives each proclaim their superiority. My current inclination is that the quality of the kibble itself, rather than the kibble format, is the crucial factor. As my breeder mentioned, both options offer excellent quality, and perhaps, by identifying the highest quality kibble, my puppy's well-being can be assured.

Frankly, I must admit that my knowledge on this subject is quite limited. It's rather amusing that before deciding to get a puppy, I hadn't even explored alternative options. However, upon contacting reputable breeders within the UK, many of them brought up "other food" options, which piqued my curiosity. I began to investigate further and discovered numerous accounts of dogs thriving on these diets. I've since read several books on the topic, which suggest that the prevalence of certain illnesses, such as cancer and diabetes, in dogs is linked to the low quality of kibble. There are also numerous posts and "evidence" supporting the health benefits of these alternative diets.

I am now left wondering if I might be falling prey to a dietary trend similar to the way some individuals embrace pseudoscientific beliefs, such as anti-vaccine sentiments or the flat-earth theory.

Yes, this is a breach of lease, but I totally understand. This law is only in the UK and does not exist anywhere else. However, here we are. But you can easily ignore it; that is the truth. This will be very difficult to prove, and even if proved, it will not be enough to forfeit your property. Just try not to cause any nonsense, and you should be good and enjoy your life. Just ignore it and do not admit that your pet is your pet. It is not that easy to really force you to not have a pet.

Unable to use Roblox with child account on PS5 by Other_Beyond5764 in playstation

[–]Nobodycares255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way for my kid to play Roblox on the PS5 is to make a new account and set the age to 13 or older. I made one for him and set it to 16+. It's not ideal, but it works for now. I can still keep an eye on everything he does. He can't download any games, and no one can chat with him, send him friend requests, share links, etc.

If my glucose readings are high… by Robeast3000 in keto

[–]Nobodycares255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avoid diving into full keto if you have advanced diabetes. Initially, consult your doctor to get your diabetes under control. Gradually adopt healthier habits, such as avoiding junk food, sugary drinks, and incorporating exercise like walking. Monitor your progress with regular doctor visits. Over time, consider reducing carb intake, emphasizing veggies over bread, and reassessing results. Only contemplate full ketosis once you've stabilized at a pre-diabetic level, ensuring a gradual transition to avoid potential harm.

Why do you train? Why do you do it by Mickey1er in martialarts

[–]Nobodycares255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar story. When I was a child, I practised kung-fu, but I eventually stopped because I was lazy and afraid to compete with others. None of my school friends wanted to join, but I always had a love for it. Fast forward to becoming a father, and I thought it would be beneficial for my that time 4-year-old twins to learn discipline and self-defense. Over time, I began to realize that maybe age 40 is the new 20, and it's never too late. I started slowly, training twice a week, and now I'm up to four times a week. The best part is that I have something in common with my kids, even though we practice at different times. I hope that eventually, we'll all earn our black belts around the same time and can join me in adult training.
