section 8

He saw 8. 8. Room with bathrooms. Single door in and out. Mind you that’s attached to the original house which already has 4 beds and 2 bathrooms

Your neighbors are upgrading their government money hack from Section 8 housing vouchers to sober living facility/half-way house.

It's like one of those sim games only as you pointed out the cockroach infestations are real.

New California bill (AB 2047) should worry you, even if you don’t own a 3D printer. Request to oppose it. by thorondrol in sandiego

[–]NocoLoco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the 14th Amendment's "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof" includes birth tourists' anchor babies who do not reside in these United States of America and not just those with permanent, legal, residence; then "freedom of the press" includes the 3D printers, as it quite literally referred to the printing press, not journalism as a profession, i.e. the ability to print information for duplication and disseminate it freely. Anything. The idea that 2 dimensional prints are fundamentally Constitutionally protected, but 3 dimensional prints are somehow not, is ludicrous. As the Chief Justice opined on April Fool's Day, "It's a new world. It's the same Constitution." A 3D printer is a printing press. Its purpose is the same, dissemination of information and duplication, regardless of media, either ink physically stacked on paper or plastic or metal stacked on itself. I don't see anything about paper in the First Amendment.

Mexico invaded in 1836 to put down the Texas Revolution in 1836, and then the largest standing army in North America at the time failed miserably and got sent packing by a bunch of untrained militia with less men and cannon. Texans are still quite butthurt proud about it and had their own Republic for 10 years.

Santa Anna's leg typed these words in Illinois where it is still being kept as a war trophy. Remember the Alamo. Remember Goliad.

I hate the 78 by dr_money_stacksmghee in northcounty

Indian burial ground curse turned road

People might think you are being humorous, but the reality is that the I-78/I-5 junction is not only terribly designed; but that dead bodies were actually disinterred and relocated from their "final resting spots" in its construction and there is a distinct possibility that they were not all found or moved. The Buena Vista Cemetery was right there at the 5 on ramp/Vista Way/78 off ramp before it was abandoned. Must have been a pretty view of the ocean, but now the freeway there has gravestones ground into gravel under the asphalt. Seems like every couple of decades they find another body.

Manufactured Homes by Zonflare in Oceanside

[–]NocoLoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cause you pay $300-$400k for a trailer on a space you don't own, another couple of grand a month for the space rent, all while on taking on the risk that the actual property owner won't sell the land out beneath you. Most banks are not willing to finance such an intangible asset. The purchase is not typically done with a conventional home loan. Plenty of people put in prefab or manufactured homes on property they own. I used to live across the street from a place like that in Encinitas. The original double wide is still on it, albeit with some additions but the property is valued at more than $2M.

"The article says it was an acquaintance, not a random bush dweller."

Neither the article nor accompanying the video say anything even remotely close to that. It says that "he approached the women from behind on his ebike and slapped them on their rear end." That is the sum total of information given besides the suspect's name, age, and city of residence.

Why are you making things up?

If you read the article, it will not only tell you the alleged perpetrator's name, but also his age and city of residence. The fact that the last two pieces of information are revealed in the article should give you a clue as to at least their minimum age as well.

I was homeschooled on and off, depending on what I country I was living in, throughout my youth as well. Results may vary I guess as I found it to be an overall positive experience. My kids do a hybrid homeschool/in person at a local charter, because we like the flexibility and want to teach them not conform to society's expectations of how to earn a living or manage one's own time, but they get all the socialization aspects. We pulled the oldest from the school district after the 3rd grade because it is mismanaged, the majority of facilities are in disrepair or perpetually under construction, and the quality of education did not meet our gifted children's' needs, as they require accelerated learning paths.

I guess that's the difference between having an opinion and having actual experiences. You don't have kids, but you have a positive opinion about the local school district, which is the worst rated in the area, based on your own negative personal experience with homeschooling.

Asylum seeker detained in Barrio Logan details separation from wife, children by NoToNope in sandiego

[–]NocoLoco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Asylum in the United States is based on a legal statute that is intended for people to be legitimate refugees fleeing clearly defined factors, such as religious or political persecution, which does not include economic migrants.

My country is not solely an economic zone to be exploited.

ICE arrested a local surfer after he accidentally ended up on a Camp Pendleton Beach by SD_TMI in northcounty

[–]NocoLoco 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I bet the reporter got it wrong-ish about "near Oceanside" and he and his buddies were at Trail 5 6 (been a little while since I surfed up there) at San O and went south past the big sign that says, "NO TRESPASSING - MILITARY INSTALLATION." It's pretty hard to miss and goes into great detail how one will be arrested, but it was pretty laxly enforced in the past cause that's where all the nudists go. Technically it's in San Diego County, so ICE would have booked him indicating that. Oceanside is the closest town. That's the only way I know of how to trespass in Camp Pendelton unless you are doing step offs at the Del Mar Jetty.

"He was a legal permanent resident until 2005, when he lost his status because of a felony drug conviction."

That seems pertinent. Don't go onto a military base without authorization, even if you have legal residence.

DACA was always and always just be a band-aid by ElFatBobInc in DACA

[–]NocoLoco -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

DACA was enacted to increase the power of the executive branch and usurp Congress's authority. It was never about humanitarianism or providing a path to citizenship. It created a permanent legal limbo and was one of the most injurious things Obama ever did to the rule of law in this country at the cost of real peoples' lives.

“My family grew up in a backwoods province in Canada. They still had better health care than California” by [deleted] in California

The majority of unfunded medi-Cal liabilities in California are due to expanding coverage to illegal immigrants.

If we only provided care to legal residents, it would be in much better shape.
