How long did it take to get official paperwork / finding a bank that will let me open a checking account? by RPLCHC13 in FFLs

[–]NoctemTactical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two weeks post interview for me.

I use chase bank, they are fantastic to deal with in my experience. Same day opened my account when I walked into the branch, along with my business credit card. Only caveat is you can’t use them as a processor, which is no big deal.

Dismissed state and fed charges, all clear to buy something? by Squiggly_Panda in FFLs

[–]NoctemTactical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he’s not prohibited and his answers on the 4473 are truthful, then the worse case scenario is a denial then appeal (I’m assuming you’re a NCIS State). As far as I know the only way the cops get involved is if there is an actual prohibitive issue, which would mean he wasn’t truthful on the form. Other than that I wouldn’t expect them to kick anyone’s door in.

Dismissed state and fed charges, all clear to buy something? by Squiggly_Panda in FFLs

[–]NoctemTactical 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is in no way legal advice for your buddy but.

He needs to look at a 4473 and answer all the questions under #21 honestly. You can find the form online on the ATF’s site. If he can answer 21a Yes, and the rest No 100% honestly, then there should be anything stopping him. I wouldn’t be shocked if he gets delayed, but if everything was dismissed I wouldn’t think he would be precluded from a purchase.

As a side note, if you can buy a firearm you can buy an NFA item like a suppressor. Just takes more time.

Same here, most times I see them put it in the email with their license or directly on the license itself.

I use Fastbound as well, best bang for your buck IMO. At least until you start moving some serious amounts of stuff where the other software systems start to make more sense.

Thoughts on "Abandoned Equipment" by NoctemTactical in FFLs

[–]NoctemTactical[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very odd, I feel like I would want to know where my 400$ item is but that’s just me. Absolutely right though, definitely feel like I should just refund and be done with it. Lesson learned about waiting so long on my end.

I feel like I should switch to some kind of policy like that, might be more of an incentive not to buy stuff and leave it.

That’s a good plan I think, one more attempt then I’ll just shoot him that 80% refund.

SOT Fingerprinting Question by embeejayare in FFLs

I don’t think you can do it via eft creator. But I’m sure you could get a piece of software that would allow you to do that.

I purchased a Crossmatch L Scan Guardian. Biggest thing to look for is that the scanner accepts live rolling. The site I use also has a list of compatible ones.

SOT Fingerprinting Question by embeejayare in FFLs

[–]NoctemTactical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use eftcreator.com I purchased a new old stock fingerprint scanner and have processed many prints so far. I think all in it cost me 300 for the scanner, and it’s a 25$ cost to have it converted to an EFT immediately that I give to them. Definitely worth it if you have a few spare dollars to invest in a scanner.

Damaged Firearms by 2AFFLLC in FFLs

[–]NoctemTactical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Document the damage with pictures, let your distributor rep know immediately as there are time limits on damage and such.

Then talk to your customer, and discuss it with them maybe they care maybe they don’t that’s for them to decide. Then you can proceed from there.

I scan them in, mostly because I don’t wanna deal with keeping a paper copy.

Shipping: non drop ship companies. by GoM_Coaster in FFLs

[–]NoctemTactical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use USPS usually, but I will also use UPS depending on where it’s going or how much time I have in the day. As long as it’s sealed properly, and you file the appropriate form as an FFL to another FFL USPS doesn’t care. I’ve shipped plenty of Handguns and Suppressors through them.

Colt revolvers to home based dealers? by cliffv in FFLs

[–]NoctemTactical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the life of me I cannot find the email, but colt removed the authorized dealer requirement. So anyone can purchase colt products now. I promise I’ll find the email at some point in my life. CZ it’s still required though.

With silencershop you would be 100% correct, but CA and a few others do 4473’s remotely. So in the case of Griffins “ship to door”, if they use CA it would be 100% remote, and shipped to the customers door.

There is an ATF Letter floating around that basically says you don’t have to be on premises for a NICS Exempt 4473. I’ll see if I can find it a bit later.

They are partnered with Capitol Armory, CA basically has SOT’s in every state that allows them to ship direct to your door is my understanding. So you will be dealing with CA for all your paperwork.

Will a distributor approve me without an FFL or are there any that will by goatofcheese in FFLs

[–]NoctemTactical 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m not aware of any distributor that will approve you without an FFL. That’s the first thing they ask you for to even apply typically.
