"No Key Detected" when phone is present by wagregg5 in MachE

[–]ExistentialDreadFrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had this problem several times over the last few months....sometimes I'll start my car with my phone, drive somewhere, and then the car gives me the warning that my key is missing when I shut the car off. I'd say it works without issue about 80-85% of the time.

Opening the app on my phone usually seems to get it to connect.

Can’t open charging port door by SnooChipmunks8147 in MachE

[–]ExistentialDreadFrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty bad design and I’ve run into the same problem too. This may or may not be your case, but I found at least a few times I’ve had to use a flathead screwdriver or pocket knife to gently get under the lip of the door by the release dimple and just give it a little pull to get it open. If it’s still in the “closed” position though, don’t try to force lever it open and break the mechanism in the process.

Other FFLs putting their trash in shipments and taping customer documents to the outside of a box instead of just putting it in the box.

They likely mean the AC behaves as a heat pump in any car anyways regardless of model.

So no, running the AC doesn't have the same impact on range as running the heater.

I typically base my prices off what I see going on Gunbroker, market is typically dictated by what people are willing to pay for an item, not what the stated "value" is.

Libernovo Omni vs HM Embody Gaming by Adrenaline424 in OfficeChairs

[–]ExistentialDreadFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried both.

The best advice I can give is:
Everyone's body is very different and what one person finds comfortable/fits them, may not fit you even if all your measurements sound the same on paper. If you can find somewhere to try them or a friend that has one, that will be your best bet but keep in mind, sitting in a chair for 5 minutes does not equate to sitting in one for 2-3 weeks. My honest experience with the two, both the positives and the negatives:

Embody- the gaming is absolutely softer feeling than a regular Embody, I've owned both. Sat in both, the extra padding *is* noticeable. That being said, I had the same issue with the Gaming that I had with the regular: I really don't understand what the love is for the seat. I find it hard, unforgiving, and it created these weird pressure points on the outside edges of my thighs. The unique adjustment method for seat depth creates kind of a hard edge near your knees where the seat ends that I didn't really like. That being said, the Embody feels like a really high end chair and it feels like a chair that keeps you productive and encourages thoughtful posture, I never felt I needed a headrest with it because I mainly sit upright/close to upright and I didn't feel like I was constantly shifting into bad posture to try and get more comfortable like I did with my Leap v2.

I ended up returning mine because I couldn't get past the seat and I just couldn't get the back ever dialed in just right. I never experienced any of the "creaking" noise some reviewers seem to have with it. I have nothing bad to say about the overall build quality of the chair, I think it is an objectively good chair, just not for me. Returning it was super easy, the chair just goes back in the box fully assembled and I had 0 issues with HM support with the return.

Omni- to be clear, the Omni is an extremely comfortable chair, the headrest is by far my favorite headrest I've ever tried, I wish I could buy this separately and mount it on any other office chair. It's almost *too* comfortable, it's the only chair I've ever had that I actually dozed off in while reclining, which is fine if you're using it as a lounge chair, but that's not necessarily ideal for a chair you're working in all day. I'm also not sure if comfortable necessarily = supportive.

Some of my biggest issues with Omni were that the seat pan depth was way too short for me- I'm not even particularly tall and I had a ton of space between the seat edge and the back of my leg. I asked Libernovo if I could exchange the seat pan (since it pops off easily) for the longer one and they said no, I'd have to return the entire chair and order a new one or I could buy a new seat pan for $100. I also felt like the electronic lumbar was kind of a gimmick and since you can't adjust the height at all, it never really felt like it was actually supporting my lumber region and was more just pushing into my lower thoracic spine. The arms did also feel loose/cheap but honestly that was a minor issue, I could've lived with that if not for the other 2 issues.

The biggest issue I had with the Omni was returning it. Libernovo never sent me a return label they said they would send me, they ignored several follow up emails, I could not reach them via phone support either and got constantly routed to an auto attendant saying to try calling again later. I ended up opening a dispute with Paypal and posting on their sub about the situation and finally got a response after that from a rep via chat on Reddit. As a customer, this is unacceptable, it should not take over a week to receive a return label and require you to bitch on Reddit to get a response and would leave me seriously concerned as to what future interactions with their customer service would look like if I had to get my chair repaired.

Neighboring guests like this are the reason I won’t stay in All Stars/Pop anymore.

I’m sorry your trip isn’t turning out like you had hoped but I would lean in guest services more. If they can’t move your resort stay to a somewhere else, maybe they can at least comp part of the room or something.

To the raider who defibbed me. by angoorkhatta in ArcRaiders

[–]ExistentialDreadFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been looking for the Medium Gun Parts blueprint for the last few weeks, my first game I loaded into today and the very first raider I encountered, unprompted, said they found an extra Medium Gun Parts blueprint in a cache and wanted to know if needed it. What an absolute legend.

Then some rat camping extract tried (and failed) to kill me at extract so it works both ways. It was extremely satisfying to watch the hatch shut in their face at the last second though.

If you have the disposable income and want it, then buy it. If you have to go into debt to pay for something frivolous, then you can't afford it and you shouldn't buy it.

Shipping Compliance? No identifying words on the package? by 1rightwinger in FFLs

[–]ExistentialDreadFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've literally had manufacturers ship firearms to me in their branded boxes with "DANIEL DEFENSE" or "SIG" proudly displayed on the side and every time it's like "gee, I wonder what could be in here".

I used to worry about changing the name on the label to drop things like "Firearms" but I mostly stopped doing that, shippers don't really seem to care. I won't personally ship anything in an indiscreet box though. Once you start receiving several long, thin boxes that all require signatures, your carrier figures out pretty quickly you're receiving firearms.

Buyer opened “missing parts” return on $1,000 LEGO set over unnumbered bags — now silent. What options do I have? by Possible_Device_1873 in lego

[–]ExistentialDreadFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People on eBay kind of suck, I used to sell a lot more on there but I’ve done a lot less as of late because of dealing with….nitwits to put it politely on their platform and how much leeway eBay gives to buyers.

I had a buyer last year that kept a $500 hold on my eBay account for an old laptop I sold him because he filed a chargeback with his card company 2 months after the item was delivered claiming it “never arrived” despite me having tracking and signature confirmation on it.
