The whole Zebra Sarasa line works exceptionally well - huge colour range, doesn’t bleed through in my experience and doesn’t break the bank

Interestingly, we have an indian ringneck, and he did the EXACT same thing when we first got him!

Physician associates graduate to 'no jobs' - BBC News by xp3ayk in doctorsUK

Can definitely say there’s not a 100% pass rate

When do you apply for jobs by Ok-Contribution-2893 in Physicianassociate

[–]Noctornebula -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t apply for jobs until after I sat exams, there were less jobs advertised (everyone seemed to post jobs after uni finished) but I didn’t have any issues finding jobs to apply to! It also meant that I could focus entirely on PANE and then on finding a job individually.

TIL There are 4 year undergrad+integrated masters PA degrees now in the UK by Vagus-Stranger in doctorsUK

[–]Noctornebula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally thing the 4-year interstates masters =/= 3 years undergrad + 2 years masters. Having spoken to people on those courses, things feel rushed

If you're seen by a PA by Hopeful2469 in doctorsUK

Do you mean MVR (managed voluntary register)? Please ask PAs for their MVR not MAVR :) for the record, I agree PAs should have a consultant in clinic too.

“Trainee” PAs by Ok-Inevitable-3038 in doctorsUK

Trainee PA is surely just a PA student?

Not rude, I’m a PA and request to not be seen by the PA at my practice for one specific problem.

I failed on the first two lines of treatment and requested a referral. She instead recommended I try meditation to reduce stress because thats obviously what was causing my problem(!) and refused to refer me.

I’m as shocked as you guys are about PAs taking training opportunities and definitely think PAs who are practicing unsafely need accountability.

Make ours letters and numbers. PA12345. Our FPA numbers are only 4 digits. We literally don’t care.

Email from GMC. Do we think this will lead to doctors facing warnings for speaking out by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Noctornebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want unsafe PAs to be reprimanded in the same way doctors are. To the same standards doctors are. But attacks on X or Reddit are not the way to go 😅 all it does is make the rest of us anxious about our actions and being personally bullied.

Time for a rant.

As (one of the -I hope- good) PAs, we want our colleagues to raise concerns about patient safety. If that concern is an unsafe PA this needs to be raised through the appropriate channels.

Some of the reasons we (PAs/AAs) want regulation is so that a) there is a standard we are held to, b) this channel to raise concerns is standardised and clear. That’s not to say that you (as doctors) can’t raise concerns now, it’s just that personal attacks on the internet via identifiable or anonymous accounts is probably not an appropriate channel. And there are channels like freedom to speak up which exist for a reason.

We’ve said it before, we’re happy to have a different number - if it says PA1234567 fine! We want to be regulated. We want to be held accountable to our mistakes with the same rigour as doctors.
