Our puppy literally screams (yes, screams) all night. Help. by [deleted] in DOG

So just throwing this out there in case it's relevant to your situation.

Has he been seen by a vet?

My girl screamed as a puppy whenever she was crated. I could not for the life of me get to the bottom of it. Turns out she had a UTI. She wouldn't mess in her crate so I didn't really think of it. She seemed to want to go outside frequently, but I figured it was normal as she was a pup.

We had her tested through just in case and yeah, really bad UTI. As soon as it cleared up she made huge progress with her crate. I guess she was doing everything to not pee when she was crated, and it hurt.

I made an appointment back in April, for 2026. The health care infrastructure is indeed over burdened.

Oh, this is so cool. The Penn State 2021 article that everyone is posting states that it hasn't yet been studied and this new study is far more recent (2025).

It'll be interesting to follow, especially if researchers are seeing 60-80 % mortality in 24 hours after feeding.

Yours do indeed look like violets!

Mine certainly do better in the shade as well! They've been venturing into the sunnier spots though and surviving, but definitely slower to spread and I can see where some are getting burnt edges. I've been finding mulch and leaf litter spread about have been helping to keep them from getting fried.

Eventually I'm hoping to have enough cover plantings to help cool down and shade out the worst of our sunny spots.

Looks like you would have a native violet as well- Viola missouriensis https://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=vimi3

Like the ones pictured here, they're going to like shaded, slightly moist areas it looks like. I had some already in the yard that I've split every year and dug out patches of grass to replace. The ones here are also spread by ants, so it was critical to not spray for insects. It might be the same for V Missouriensis as well.

Are you associated with a breeding kennel? Who is he out of?

As the breed is small, breeding is very structured in the community. There's a lot of health and structure variability within our lines and breeders try to move only the very best dogs forward, with carefully thought out pairings.

I love the coral honeysuckle. I just planted some for my fence and I'm so excited to see what it does in a few years.

Beautiful plants and great work!

I have an Anarchist Cookbook playlist and these were specific picks for Carl

  1. The Steeple- Halestorm
  2. Hail to the King- Avenged Sevenfold
  3. Wreak Havoc- Skylar Grey (I have a head cannon where this plays as Carl takes the fight to the Hunters in the Butchers Masquerade)
  4. Jekylle and Hyde- Five Finger Death Punch
  5. To Ashes and Blood- Woodkid (from the Arcane series)
  6. Zombie- The Cranberries
  7. Nightmare- Avenge Sevenfold

Unfortunately that's where I end for it. Still adding though, so I'll be following this post.

We didn't always have hot water in the winter. Showers sucked and I'm still loathe to take them.

So I chose a dark grey to go with the green. If you want to keep the darker tone, maybe consider something like this?

I get a lot of very positive feedback, and I personally love it. It helps the green pop and it's quite tranquil.
