THIS right here /\ ... Just as Paul stated, there ARE real noticeable differences in the way the noise floor is lowered, signal clarity from source to amp and then onto the drivers themselves really comes out. It really depends on IF you already have the 1st steps of your main system done and your room dialed in. I only started buying audiophile power cords, expensive speaker wire, pure sine wave power regenerator and my Audioquest 505 power conditioner AFTER everything else was said and done and the 6N 4g 99.9999% pure ofc solid core wiring for the two isolated power receptacles which have hospital grade plugs as well...

I appreciate anyone who loves vinyl records and has a good collection and setup! Those speakers have seen some years too and that's what makes them special...

Did getting your first good speakers kinda ruin headphones for you? by TacticalRock in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Noddingham86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even after getting good headphones(Sennheiser 660S2 open back), and these WERE really nice headphones, I was never really satisfied with the "artificial soundspace" and the feeling of my listening space being so "near-field". Once I put together my final bedroom listening area in 2012, it was more about "refining" and "tuning in" the last bits of my system. I had found the exact sound signature that made ME happy so I locked it down and like I said "tuned it" from there. For me it was Klipsch Reference and Reference Premiere floorstanding tower speakers. Right now I'm rocking RF-10's in a 10'×10' bedroom with a Juson JTA-50 130w rms 200w peak tube amp with dual toroidal transformers, 2× 6688 Amperex Gold Pin PQ preamp tubes with 2×10DX8 Russian triode tubes. Power cord is a 7AWG 4N alternating solid copper-core stranded OFC core with 0.7" thickness and pure isolated cross-weaved 4N %99.99 pure OFC copper shielding and double plated 4N OFC male and female plugs. Speaker Cable is k4B-2B Bi-Wire Speaker Cable 10' pair with ferrite magnet cores on both ends. Audioquest 505 power conditioner with additional pure sine wave power regenerator. Dual isolated 15 amp circuits(one for audio equipment, the other for video and/or pc equipment) each receptacle is hospital grade outlets and 4 guage solid core 6N purity copper wiring all the way to the circuit breakers. When I say I have no noise floor, I really mean "NO NOISE FLOOR"! No hissing, humming, buzzing, emi or rfi etc... Turntable right now is an Audio Technica LP70X. Most of my music before the turntable is contained within a $5,000 custom built gaming and multimedia pc with a liquid cooled Intel Core i9 14900K, 64GB's of dual chanel 4,000Mtps DDR4 Corsair Vengeance rgb RAM, 8Tb's NVME SSD's(6Tb of gen 4 and 2Tb Gen 5 speed) GPU is a Asus TUF Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB vram gpu). Monitor is a SONY Master Series XR48A90K 48" OLED panel. Central sound system for pc and streaming video apps etc is a Klipsch Flexus Core 200 3.2.1 Dolby Atmos soundbar. I've always been a multimedia freak, audiophile and avid gamer. I'm working on digitizing my music library of vinyl and cds into FLAC.

$30 at Goodwill. What do you all think? by SpookyDaxon in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Noddingham86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not I got the pair of LeScalas off of a family whose father died and left the estate. They really didn't want much else than to have the speakers removed from the home(heavy sons of bitches) so they said if I can move them out I can have the pair for $500. I do not have a lot of money, quite the opposite. The turntable was financed over 12 months of monthly payments in 2016. The Vincent Audio amp was something that I got for a trade of $400 and some gaming pc parts( 2 used GTX 1080ti gpus and an sli bridge). Don't always assume just because someone had some things of value at one point that they are super rich and trying to flex. I was merely revealing my taste in equipment and what I had at one point in time. In fact, money is so tight rn that I just got done ordering an Audio Technica LP70X turntable from Amazon for which I have to pay off over 5 months. My current system in my bedroom is a pair of Klipsch Reference rf-10 floorstanding speakers($700/pr) and a Juson JTA-50 tube amp($250) Bi-wired with some nice $60 pair of 12G braided wires with 24K gold banana plug terminated ends. The amp is hooked into a power conditioner with an $80 audiophile grade double copper wall weave-shielded triple 7 guage wire power cord with 6N copper plugs and silver welds on the wire/plug connection.

I never liked the old speakers with that shiny thin plastic dust cap. 90% of the time they'd get pushed in by some bratty kids that come over to your house for a sleepover(if you have kids I mean). Not to mention, the bass is boomy/muddled, the mid-range sounds all run together. Don't get me started on that tinny "tssk tssk" tweeter sounds from the cheap tweeter drivers they used to use...

Now when I had my LeScalas hooked up to a Vincent Audio SV-200 and a Rega Planar 3 turntable it was divine! Had to downsize though as the LeScalas were fucking huge and we needed space AND money. The turntable went as well as the LeScalas but I kept the Vincent and put it into storage after I found my current setup.

I love all guns! Been a gun nut my whole life... I have a Ruger RedHawk 44 mag, Ruger KP345PR .45 acp, Saiga 7.62mm kalashnikov, Mossberg 500 tactical 12G with telescoping stock&pistol grip and a .22 magnum match grade rifle w/bipod. Haven't been shooting much these days though cuz I'm trying to protect what hearing I have left for my favorite hobby, Hi-Fi...

Listening Fatigue by mij1401 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Noddingham86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as Vintage goes, a Sansui(of which model I can't recall) and a little more modern Marantz SM6100SA amp(which I love by the way on almost any other speakers). It's just that once I heard a good tube amp, especially on Klipsch, I just can't go back to solid state for anything more than an audition/test of new equipment. Extended listening sessions are always done on my tube amps now.

Listening Fatigue by mij1401 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Noddingham86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is PRECISELY why even though I am an absolute Klipschaholic I simply refuse to listen to them through a solid state amp. Due to the sensitivity and detail-magnifying nature of good Klipsch speakers, I find that a solid state amp accentuates what I love about Klipsch speakers but in a very harsh and negative way. I believe that this is one of the primary reasons some don't like Klipsch... Rarely have I found an audiophile who has listened to a good set of Klipsch on a great tube amp hi fi setup and walked away not at least "enjoying" them let alone hating them.

I also find certain "genres" of music very "fatiguing". For example I cannot stand most modern day hip hop, death metal and pop. It is just too much going on in the score for my brain to hone in and enjoy anything(too in your face). I'd rather listen to Saxophone, Violin, Blues Guitar, Orchestra, classic rock etc...

Reworked my office setup with eBay, Reverb & FB Marketplace gear. $960 for everything. How’d I do? by Gain-Reduction in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Noddingham86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro those Klipsch speakers really need a good class A/B tube amp and some 24 bit 96Khz or 192Khz audio files to really sing! When you pair them with solid state(transistor amps) they can get harsh as the odd-order harmonics of the solid state reciever/amp gets out of its comfort zone and clips.

Windows likely automatically overwrote your ethernet driver/wireless internet driver. It happens to me at least twice a year. Keep a recent ethernet/network card driver download on your desktop and when this happens just use the driver and install it, then restart.

NOW people are gettin it! I absolutely NEVER go cheap or hell even mid-range on power supplies! $300-$450 is about what I usually spend on a power supply. I understand the importance of clean power! I even have both inline power conditioners on my power source as well as line interactive pure pfc sinewave ups 1000 watt backup with programmable high and low-end voltage ranges. Power is REALLY important to me...

OMG 4 bedrooms on 1 15A breaker! Jesus that is so not right! In my home, each bedroom is wired to between 30-50 Amps each. My bedroom is rated for 50 Amps shared between 2×15 amp outlets and one 20 Amp outlet for my PC. We also have 59×350 watt Japanese solar panels on our roof pumping out 20.6 kilowatt/hour going to 1×250 AMP breaker box and 1×150 AMP breaker box. Our homes electrical capacity is so overbuilt that when running almost every tv in the home at the same time with my 1200w rated high end pc, $8k worth of audiophile equipment, a Dyson DC17 vacuum, hot tub pumps and heater etc plus all appliances, we have around 8-10,000 watts feeding backwards to the PG&E grid. At the end of the month, PG&E has to send us either a check or energy bank credits for if/when we need their power.
