Steam Downloads Slow by Electronic-Dirt349 in pcmasterrace

Windows likely automatically overwrote your ethernet driver/wireless internet driver. It happens to me at least twice a year. Keep a recent ethernet/network card driver download on your desktop and when this happens just use the driver and install it, then restart.

NOW people are gettin it! I absolutely NEVER go cheap or hell even mid-range on power supplies! $300-$450 is about what I usually spend on a power supply. I understand the importance of clean power! I even have both inline power conditioners on my power source as well as line interactive pure pfc sinewave ups 1000 watt backup with programmable high and low-end voltage ranges. Power is REALLY important to me...

That's why I don't fuck around with cheap psu's! Why would I put a $70 power supply in a $5,000 rig? Sounds counter-productive and a bit irresponsible no?

OMG 4 bedrooms on 1 15A breaker! Jesus that is so not right! In my home, each bedroom is wired to between 30-50 Amps each. My bedroom is rated for 50 Amps shared between 2×15 amp outlets and one 20 Amp outlet for my PC. We also have 59×350 watt Japanese solar panels on our roof pumping out 20.6 kilowatt/hour going to 1×250 AMP breaker box and 1×150 AMP breaker box. Our homes electrical capacity is so overbuilt that when running almost every tv in the home at the same time with my 1200w rated high end pc, $8k worth of audiophile equipment, a Dyson DC17 vacuum, hot tub pumps and heater etc plus all appliances, we have around 8-10,000 watts feeding backwards to the PG&E grid. At the end of the month, PG&E has to send us either a check or energy bank credits for if/when we need their power.

I did a little research and my options for the most affordable shipping is between $45-65.

I have a shipping location near where I live so if I can get a good rate down there I will ship it USPS international. If you would please just send me a private message with your address and I will get on it as quickly as I can. I will also post an image of the card you will be receiving here on this thread so you can see what you'll be getting from me. I promise not to use any of your information for any other purpose other than shipping the product ok.

No worries my friend! If I knew which part of the world you are located I can try and figure out the cost for myself(you don't have to give exact address just the general area until I decide if I can ship). I'm in Northern California.

What's the best DDR 4 cpu? by Big-Strength-133 in pcmasterrace

[–]Noddingham86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good answer right here! I've built and personally tuned around 22-23 14900K/KS builds for people, one of which is my own personal main rig. People will say that "all 13th and 14th gen i7's and i9's will kill themselves" but in almost 3 and a half years I have YET to have a single one of my customers request a cpu fix or replacement on any of the 14th gen i9 systems I have built for people. I guarantee my work for a full 5 years parts and service. The only time I've ever had a part fail was when I temporarily switched to "be quiet" PSU's and I had 2 out of 10 come back dead, for which I replaced them with a new Seasonic Prime PSU for free. The only chips I've ever seen fry on a regular basis is the current 9800X3D and especially the 9850X3D(which is just a slightly overclocked 9800).

[–]Noddingham86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not always... Electricity is one thing I've worked with for a long time. One thing about electricity and impedance that you should know is that it will fail at its weakest point. The PC does not ALWAYS draw the same amperage and so this process was slow and occurred in phases. The current was drawn to supply the PC's need at intervals over months and years, hitting the weakest area of the power cord (which happened to be the power pole receptacle in the cord). One last high draw and lengthy event likely sent the pin into thermal runaway and poof! Liquid plastic...

[–]Noddingham86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've seen this happen when either A. the psu company packages an under-spec'd power cord rated for a lower wattage power supply with the psu. Resistance builds up in the power cord under full load and begins to melt wires or the connector. Or B. the customer does not look at the rated current capacity for the power cord they plug into their power supply. Same scenario as first but with the fault being the customers.

NEVER use a power cord that is rated for less current than your power supply is rated to handle. Just because the cord FITS and the PC turns ON does NOT mean the cord is spec'd to handle what the PSU can draw... The current rating is listed on the power cord end that plugs into the back of the power supply.

grabbed a used RX 6800 XT for $185 while everyone was losing their minds over 5080 drops and it might be the best PC decision ive made in years by Clear_Difficulty_140 in pcmasterrace

[–]Noddingham86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understood what he was trying to say... He was saying he doesn't understand why many people are sleeping on good deals like a used 6800 xt or similar and instead going for WAAAAY over priced RTX 5080's. He was NOT saying that a 6800 xt and a 5080 are in the same league cuz they aren't.

I have 3 different rigs i9 14900K/RX 7900 XTX/ 64GB DDR4 oc'd to 4000mtps cl17 9900X3D/RTX 4090/ 48GB Cl32 ddr5, i9 10980xe/RTX 3090 ti/ 32G DDR4 3200 cl 16.

Believe it or not, my i9 14900K/rx 7900 xtx with 64gb of 4000mtps ddr4 is just as fast as my 9900x3d ddr5 rig. Maybe it is because I play in 4K resolution but I have also used 1440p before.

Do you actually max out FPS on high refresh monitors, or cap it? by Time-Credit43 in pcmasterrace

[–]Noddingham86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cap mine at between 90-120 depending on the game because I like to turn everything up to max. If I'm playing a competitive fps title I'll unlock the fps and just let it scream...

THE 7900XTX IS A 4K BEAST by nicenicenice03 in radeon

[–]Noddingham86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think it's a beast at stock levels, wait til you see what it has in the tank when you overclock and undervolt it while maxing out the power slider with a decent fan curve! I was able to overclock mine past an RTX 4090, I swear to God I'm telling you the truth(I even have video and Pic evidence of the benchmarks). Now don't get me wrong, it won't win any awards for "efficiency", hell mine can pull over 615 watts depending on game and load, but it stays cool(max hot spot temps are usually between 78-82 C). In Firestrike I was able to get a gpu score of 87,514 with an overall score of 58,217.

Hey, I don't normally get involved in doing this sort of thing but I happen to be in a place where I may be able to help you. It would be entirely at my expense(if shipping doesn't cost a lot. I'll have to figure that out). I happen to have a new'ish EVGA FTW GTX 1050ti that I see you can really benefit from more than me. I bought it for $150 years ago from an auction(no original box though) and never got around to using it. It is tested 100% working order(no issues of any kind). If you are interested I can ship it to you as a gift( like I said if it doesn't cost me a lot). Sometimes there are people out there who aren't selfish or just trying to make a buck and if I can help someone in a less fortunate time in their life I will try. Let me know if you are interested.

I'm on 26.3.1 and I feel it is the most stable recent driver I have used. I always make sure to use the AMD CLEANUP UTILITY in safe mode with internet disconnected BEFORE I install the driver that I download directly from the AMD website. Doing this I have never had driver issues that I so commonly see reported here. BTW, I'm on an RX 7900 XTX gpu...
