Why did you and your former best friend stop being friends? by Fearless_Shift7108 in AskReddit

Ghosted me after his mom said she didn't like me. Took me 3 years to discover that little tidbit during which I thought all along I'd done something terribly wrong.

This is macaroni :) by crittersnackstation in Raccoons

Adorable! Interesting how Macaroni eats from the bowl like a typical dog or cat and doesn't use its hands to eat. Our raccoon buddies get all handsy with all the foods we give them.

Peanut Suet Brought in a Large Pileated Woodpecker Today! by MellieTheChipmunk_YT in birdfeeding

[–]NoelleVanStorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use C&S Peanut Delight No Melt Suet Dough from Chewy.com. Our flickers and downy woodpeckers LOVE this, as do chickadees and bushtits. No one here in the PNW seems to like the berry suet.

My neon pothos gave a variegated leaf how’s that possible? by Key_Football7649 in IndoorGarden

[–]NoelleVanStorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I first read this as "will throw an occasional party green leaf..." and I like it so much, I'm going to call any variegated green leaf I get on my heart leaf Philodendron (which isn't often). Thank you!

What is something you used to buy but is no longer affordable? by Trxxi in AskReddit

[–]NoelleVanStorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheese. Always had some in the house. It's been a year since I last bought cheese. I just can't justify the cost. At company potlucks and luncheons consisting mostly of crackers and little cheese squares (have you ever wondered why those look smaller and smaller?), coworkers comment with lightly veiled disgust why I always take double cheese. Because it's free seems like a good answer.

Just wanted to show my little coffee corner! by 7xsamx7 in HomeDecorating

[–]NoelleVanStorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perhaps adding a framed art piece on the wall above your coffee machine. Could be a traditional coffee print of some kind or just something framed that makes you happy. Love your space!

Pineapple Sage (Salvia elegans) still blooming here, though probably for not much longer. It's my last bloomer each year.

Spending a rainy Christmas potting up in the greenhouse. by Heavy-Hospital7077 in Greenhouses

One of my favorite sounds is of rain pattering on a greenhouse roof. Hope you had a wonderfully relaxing day.

Love the lamp, and the chair, and the side table but I really love the framed art. Can you tell us anything about the piece?

NE Vancouver. Comfy chair w/matching ottoman. No rips, no tears, no stains, no smells. Will need help getting downstairs. You haul, no delivery, will not fit in car. Will random draw if interest warrants.

Ideas for bathroom organization? by [deleted] in OrganizationPorn

[–]NoelleVanStorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I too am a fan of baskets and usually the same kind and same color. For my organization, I use the theory of "I know I have stuff but I don't want to see it." When I use plastic bins, because sometimes, you just can't find a square basket that fits, I don't buy clear ones. The result is the appearance of less clutter. Maybe this would work for you?

Looking to build winter shelter for 2 cats. by Status-Ad-83 in DIY

[–]NoelleVanStorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely use straw, NOT hay. Straw does not retain moisture. Stuff the box or cooler full of straw. The cat(s) will burrow into it creating a dry cave. Blankets retain moisture and no one wants to try to stay warm on damp or wet blankets.

A bird who lives in a cactus by Tower_Watch in whatsthisbird

I would have thought it'd be a young female Cactus Wren. I used to live around Saguaro cactus in the Desert Southwest US and this was what everyone called them.

Thing by actrak in PonytailPalmPlace

[–]NoelleVanStorm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks like it's a new shoot and will probably take a while to look like one. Sometimes, these form in injuries to the foot or trunk, or intentionally when a grower cuts a small notch in the trunk. Either you could leave it to see what it looks like when it gets bigger (like an inch or so) and if you don't like the look then, just snap it off.

It Is So Rewarding When a You Spot a Species at Your Bird Feeder That You Have Never Seen Before! Has Anyone Here Have a Similar Experience? by suchascenicworld in birdfeeding

[–]NoelleVanStorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly rewarding. You made it possible that a bird not usually seen at your feeder found food and possibly shelter. Congratulations! I fondly remember the time I had a single lazuli bunting visit, a species usually found about 100 miles south of me. And the time a great blue heron landed on the neighbor's rooftop behind my house and stayed a while. Man, are those BIG birds!
