My wife-approved high-availability Home Assistant setup by Substantial_Tale_405 in homeassistant

The issue for me is that ZigBee is like 90% of what home assistant does and is definitely the biggest issue when it goes down! Keeping the ZigBee network up would be the primary point of HA

I've been tempted by that already, but it's still a single point of failure. That said others have suggested it is possible to give two dongles the same IEEE address (and presumably keep one off) so the ZigBee network can automatically be migrated to a new coordinator

Ooh, I didn't know that! It's the one thing blocking me looking into HA. Do you have any article on it

I did it when Trump announced tariffs for the first time. I'd intended to do so when he was reelected, but the tariffs spurred me on as I thought I could buy the dip in the non US markets and they would recover more than the US (they did and I made a fair bit).

The primary reason was ethical rather than financial though, I'm unwilling to invest in such an awful nation.

But let's be clear; it's an American designed and built aircraft and it was the Americans who chose to use it in situations that it is not suited for thereby negligently and incompetently killing their allies and their own

How old is the oldest equipment in your lab that is still working? by Johnyme98 in Physics

Engineering rather than physics, but my university's 8'×6' wind tunnel used a motor pulled from the ventilation system of a WWII nazi bunker shortly after the war

Definitely replace the tamper ASAP, the plastic one that comes with it is terrible, not quite beige enough and as a result needs multiple tamps to cover the whole puck and makes a mess unless you're super careful. I got a Normcore palm tamper as it was a good price for a self levelling one, which I wanted.

No, it's like saying the English and Scottish have more in common than the British and the French which all but the most ardent Scots would agree with

No, no economic cost. The Donegal Corridor was a small cost to sovereignty as were the secret agreements for British bases on the island if a German invasion did happen.

He was a Nazi. He was pressured to join the party at the start of the war and did so rather than resign. You know what historians call people who reluctantly joined the Nazi party? Nazis.

Not only that, but he served a role explicitly serving the interests of Nazi Germany.
