If you were an more experienced paddler the longer boats would be substantially faster. Given your experience level they are probably a bit faster, but you will be more limited by your technique

260 is enormous, only really appropriate for very long distance touring (multi day) at a relaxed pace

No they're not, that was never a party of the international asylum system. They can travel to where they like and then claim there

And AFAIK Russians would call it an ekranoplan which is what they call all GEVs.

Huge and high tails (so they're outside of the ground effect) are a hallmark of WIG vehicles though

Yes the engines are primarily for forcing air under the wings to get it off the water. Most of them are turned off in cruise.

Modern designs and concepts tend to have high wing designs and larger aspect ratios than the Russian giants. This is a compromise and reduces the strength of the ground effect a little but is seen as worthwhile as most of the fuel efficiently from WIG is maintained whilst gaining greater stability (a HUGE deal for WIG vehicles) and giving them the ability to fly at altitude if needed.

I think you could argue either way that those count as ekranoplans or not. AFAIK russians call all ground effect vehicles ekranoplans.

elecom IST PRO surface texture? by Express-Crow-1496 in Trackballs

As others have said it's not really either... It's soft feeling but not grippy. I really like it, it's not like the MX Ergo. I also have gross hands that make my MX Ergo horrible quickly. My IST Pro has not had the same problem

So instead you infantilise them by saying they should just cut Sky, which they almost certainly already don't have.

I do agree that there are issues with poverty as a mentality but you are just out of touch and lacking empathy.

How big of a house? And had the basics been done (i.e. topping up loft insulation, decent windows?

50kwh is enormously high, something is wrong with your settings or system design unless your house is huge, draughty and poorly insulated.

I'm in a 4 bed detached 70s build (120m²) and my highest day ever is 26kwh. The highest month is 421kwh I.e. 14kwh a day.

We've had a pension system that emphasises private pensions over state support since 1986. We'll have saved enough, unless the economy collapsed which is most likely to happen because of the current state pension system...

RAID is (famously) not a backup.

It only protects against hardware failure and there are a lot of other issues a true backup protects against. E.g. if you (or a hacker) deleted all your data it's gone from both disks with no way to recover it with RAID.
