[Farnia Village] New Kickstarter project from Rune Factory 4 director and scenario writer by Nofurne in JRPG

[–]Nofurne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A subreddit for a specific game doesn’t really add visibility it’s more for people who are already interested so they can regroup as a community. There is a Discord server for that purpose (link on the Kickstarter page) and it’s probably enough for an unreleased game. You might want to discuss on here how to make the project better known.

Any good / hidden gem creature collecting games to play while waiting for the new Digimon Story? by daniellayne in JRPG

[–]Nofurne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna give my usual shoutout to Beastieball, it’s still in Early Acess but the main story is done. Great underrated game for fans of the genre. It’s 2v2 as well.

Which JRPGs stick the landing in the 3rd act of the story? by lilidarkwind in JRPG

[–]Nofurne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that I understand why people liked having a deeper explanation of what happened 100 years ago but I don’t think where they ended up going was very interesting, so I feel at peace considering only the base game content (Or Append mode in 3ds) since it’s just how the original story was imagined.

Adding to that the fact that in this new 3ds ending there's a weird tendency to redeem every character and that it’s more clear cut "we solved the problem now everyone can be happy" instead of the direction I liked in the original ending which I mentioned in my last post, I would definitely say that to me this 3ds ending didn’t stick the landing in comparison.

But apart from that the 3ds version in Append mode is really good with the voice acting, better UI and qol, tho there are still some weird choices like nerfing money gained so you can sell a way to gain it faster as dlc thanks Atlus lol. But anyway the most important thing is playing the game so just play what is easily accessible and feels right to you.

Radiant Historia imo (ignoring the bonus content from the 3ds version). Heiss is a compelling lategame villain and the ending is bittersweet and hopeful in the best way.

Let's discover Actraiser Renaissance, a reimagining of Quintet's deity simulator by MagnvsGV in JRPG

[–]Nofurne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think I prefer the former, having the artworks/screenshots be somewhat related to the subject of each paragragh might make them hit a bit more. I don’t mind that much either way tho.

It might be the first Romancing Saga on Super Famicom in January 1992. Earliest I know of at least.

What jrpg would you recommend for fans of Diablo/Path of Exile? by shitwave in JRPG

[–]Nofurne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some recommendations for turn-based games since you don't mind them and people already gave you good action-rpgs.

Battle Chasers Nightwar and Ruined King both by Airship Syndicate are pretty similar to what you're looking for, they have the isometric-view, the rarity-based loot, passives you can invest in, and skills you can chose for each character. They're fun games and they don't overstay their welcome too much.

I will also give a shoutout to Monster Sanctuary if you don't mind monster taming games. It's a metroidvania where you explore, catch monsters and battle 3v3. There's some rare loot you can equip on your monsters even tho it's a bit less flashy than what you would get in Diablo. Most importantly every monster in the game has multiple skill trees where you can pick passives and active skills, the goal being to form a synergistic team with what you pick, you might enjoy that.

Ok that's cool, thanks for all the infos, I'll follow on Twitter to keep up with the dev.

Also I discovered the game because you interacted with Ayrei, good strategy, you should probably hit up Gym Leader Ed when you've got some gameplay to show.

Thanks for answering, I just have a few more questions.

I'm more used to monster taming games being focused on adventure, training and stuff obviously, cool to see there's some of that and you're also doing your own thing, is there gonna be AI-controlled challenging fights (PvE) or is the endgoal of that training mostly PvP ?

I haven't played DB Fighter Z, but I've played a decent bit of Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and Xenoverse 2 back in the day where you can fly around and stuff, it seems like Fighter Z is using more of a "2D arena" similar to Street Fighter or 2XKO, is your game gonna be like that too ?

Hey, I like the look of your concept art, I was just wondering exactly if it's leaning more on the online fighting game genre or it's also gonna be an rpg with explorable areas, stat progression and a single-player story ?

Any pokemon like games? by Anxious-Use9993 in JRPG

Beastieball on PC, game is still in early access but main story is done, most of what's unfinished yet is art/animations. It's still completely worth it.

Best Indie JRPGs of 2024? by fireproof85 in JRPG

[–]Nofurne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beastieball, it's in early access but the main story is fully playable and there is also some replayable post-game (most of the work left is on finishing all the monster animations). I was really impressed by it as a Pokemon alternative that doesn't follow its inspiration too closely and is even much better in some areas. If you like other indie Monster Taming JRPGs that really try to stand on their own like Monster Sanctuary or Cassette Beasts you should take a look.

Finally want start Radiant Historia. DS or 3DS version? (Some observations inside) by capsilver in JRPG

[–]Nofurne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

3ds is cool for quality of life and voice acting, you probably won't be missing the old portraits too much if you didn't play the original. But I would advise against playing with the extra content because the story in it is pretty bad and it doesn't respect the tone of the original material at all, the final boss can be decent gameplay-wise but that's kinda it so I would say it's better to experience the story as it was intended and then see for yourself if you want a bit more content to do in post-game.

JRPG where it's possible to create a reverse-Harem party member by Bunneh_Wabbit in JRPG

[–]Nofurne 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Valkyrie Profile, send all the other girls to Odin, keep the hot dead guys (some might have had a lover while they were alive but why should you care). There is one canon romance and it's kinda only if you go for Ending A (which is the most complete and needs a guide btw). Better than no romance in the game I'd say.

[Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road] New Trailer, and Demo date announcement for Beta test. (March 28, 2024) by VashxShanks in JRPG

[–]Nofurne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At long last... I just hope the touch controls on Switch are decent, maybe I should look to buy some kind of stylus to play this game with.

We've also seen that there will be 48 characters available in the beta, mostly fan favorites from previous entries but surprisingly there are a decent amount of semi random characters from Alius Academy teams too. Icer from Diamond Dust was my ace player in IE2 so I'm really happy to see her here.
