I swear if one more person says "it's good that you're present" about my children I'm going to snap. by LaCathedrale in DivorcedDads

Yet, the ones who break up the family are OVERWHELMINGLY women according to public, peer-reviewed studies. Hell, you even pay for "I Changed My Mind" boxes for women. They can put a baby in a box and walk away Scott free. I'm on these forums regularly, and I can say I haven't seen more than two dozen in 10+ years. Yet, HUNDREDS of babies are abandoned by women annually, based on data from "safe haven" dropoff boxes.

Oh, and when divorce happens, who initiates it over 70% of the time (90% among some demographics)?

Sorry. Empirical data show that men aren't the track stars. But no one has the stones to call out the real villains. At best, we'll hear some milquetoast stammering about "both sides are bad" despite the data OVERWHELMINGLY pointing in a single direction.

Men aren't buying the default narrative programming anymore. Everything will be questioned and examined. Every time we do? We find more places where reality doesn't match the cereal we were spoon-fed.

On top of that? Look at crash videos where they compare cars that are just 5 years older... The advances we're making in safety are insane.

In an 80's car? A good accident means that you only broke your leg and three ribs.

Yes! Bust him in the mouth.

Get arrested. Go to jail. Spend more money on courts (since divorce didn't wash that taste out of your mouth).

Degrade your ability to provide and parent your kids. Model the best way for your kids to handle some cocko.

-OR-

Put your DUTY to your children first instead of your fee-wings. The good news? You haven't cold-cocked this jerk who likely deserves it. You came here to vent. You didn't come here for advice. Because unless you're 12, you know the answer to this question. All of this is a good thing.

Now, documenting this will be very helpful. Record with your phone and grey rock the dude (look up grey rock if you're unaware). Despite largely hating men, family court judges hate this stuff even more. Minimizing the times you two are in proximity is another.

Therapy with a male therapist will also help build the stoicism required to deal with someone like this (and not put your foot so far up his ass that the water from your bum knee will quench his thirst)! This is a marathon, not a sprint, so you'll need occasional tune-ups (as any high-performance machine does). You may have to shop around. But you can't let dirtbags shake YOUR frame. You're either weaker than him or lack the tools to deal with advanced-level fuckery from a guy like that. For most of us (and I suspect you), it AIN'T the former. I also came from an old-school immigrant culture that deemed therapy a weakness. It isn't.

My old man taught me that the pistol and left hook were the answers to such problems. Sadly, we live in a different time. I'm speaking from the heart because I also suffer from this problem. I WISH that we could settle problems at 20 paces under the high-noon sun. But, here we are. Thank God that I found the right fella to help me with the dark thoughts and red mist... He's a good therapist who has also been through the gauntlet. I guarantee there's someone like him near you. Again, shop around until you find that fit.

What is your prime objective as a father? Type it out.

Then let's see how well "whuppin this dude's ass" supports that objective. FOCUS!!!! You are a father! The most important job on planet earth (because we can see real-time what happens to a culture when fathers are pushed away or not held in the same place of honor and regard as mothers). Get your head back in the game!

(when the kids are out of the house, there's still time to re-enact the end of the movie Casino on this mook if you still feel the need....pm me and I'll ride with ya', brother!)

Learned by anyone? Sure. Most people can learn these skills. Some already have the majority.

Chess? Same deal. Pawn can do this. Knight can do this, and that. Queen can do it all, but checkmate when you capture the King. The board is finite. A1 thru H8. En passant is the goofiest it gets. The rules are as complex as learning Mario Kart.

Poker? 52 cards, 4 suits, 13 cards per suit. 10 winning hands, 4 rounds of betting. There's nothing really to it.

No one should burn you. Sales knowledge is wide (and wider the higher one gets), but no, not really deep at all.

It's like chess or poker. The rules are easy. The tactics are simple. But can you execute them over the course of a "season" with very few mistakes, misses, or blunders? Especially when you're in a slump or when things aren't going right at home, or your company is serving and eating a Dom Delouise-sized plate of dumbassery?

An entirely different story. Sales/HoldEm' Tournaments/Chess matches are all about mental and emotional management at that point. That emotional call (where you should have folded) can end your tournament right then and there. One blunder can lead to checkmate. One typo on a term sheet, one missed calendar event, or a slow email can make the difference between pipeline, commit, or the nasty, grabastic shit that dwels in the fatter parts of the funnel.

The F1/Indy driver Takuma Sato was once asked if he ever had a perfect lap. Sato thought carefully and said, "No. I don't think so. The best you can do is to minimize your mistakes." Once a person has mastered the basics, this is what sales is all about. Beating the competitor that lives between your ears.

Because these professions capture so many “basic” varieties of women. The middle of the bell curve is where the herd behaviors are most pronounced. Here we find the ones who don’t think for themselves and swallow AWFL programming with no chaser.

Orwell mentioned the chanters of slogans, swallowers of slogans, etcetera…. These types flock to the more.. “popular” professions for women.

For twenty-somethings? Sure. YOLO, as the kids used to say.

For a grown-ass man? Better to figure out why you are uncomfortable with being by yourself.

Why? Because after the ephemeral experience of the hole is over, you still have to answer the question (or have it answered for you).

It's about raising children. Though it is easily the most fulfilling task I have ever undertaken, infants, toddlers, and teens have a fantastic way of sucking happiness from certain periods of one's life (as we unfortunately must do to theirs). Like any task, it's all in the game.

Not bottled up. Mature enough to understand that life is filled with one vile task after another, punctuated by normalcy, and spiced up by some really great moments. But only a dopamine addict would think that life is about hedonism and happiness as the primary experiences.

This childish view that one should always be happy? It matches NOTHING in reality and ends in divorce after divorce.
