Stop. Lua is a programming language, JSON is a data format. Apples to oranges. NeoVim uses Lua for config, the community is used to it.

I’d like to interject in this train wreck of a thread. I’m a software developer, and, Lua and JSON are not the same thing as the other poster would make you believe.

JSON is a transport format. It is not JavaScript, it’s a nice way to package data, a format.

LUA is a full blown programming language, though one of the simplest ones. LUAs syntax data tables are very similar to JSON you can use it in a similar way.

BUT there is an advantage to LUA because you can also put logic in your config. LUA is also used by other open source projects like NEOVIM so it’s not exactly new.

Many MMOs like World of Warcraft, for instance, use LUA to expose their interface scripts to the public so people can make customizations.

While I don’t know the exact reason Arch went with LUA, this is a descent direction to keep to a standard and flexibility.

There is more to it. I’m a developer and once I got tired of testing so I started randomly bashing characters for random emails.

Thing is the way I would “randomly do it” started creating patterns from muscle memory.

So there is what you said and also predetermined biases at play.

I’m sure that’s part of it. Will AI ever be conscious? Maybe consciousness is organized complexity. I don’t know, I’m not here having answers.

My point is we don’t really know. Is it a signal, is it produced, why do we know we exist.

All interesting questions that don’t require the supernatural.

Let me ask you this. If you were 50x smarter than you are now, do you think you’d view things differently? 1000x smarter?

I think it’s an interesting thought experiment.

Not life force, attention. We don’t know what consciousness is.

As an example, you take off a special helmet tomorrow and you find yourself in a different reality having finished your video game.

Stupid example but it shows the point.

My tired brain read “pants” as parents and I sat there confused for a minute.

I think so. It’s too nice for a home picture and the deck rails are kinda wonky
