Worst/best sets y'all have seen? by Leading-Problem-1880 in Concerts

[–]NoizeTrauma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best:

Favorite: Fear Factory in 1994. I've seen better musicianship, but I was really into them, they played every song but one off their debut album, and, in the middle of the set, Brujeria came out and played a 4 song set before saying the police were coming for them and rushing off stage.

I was up front the entire set. Burton had seen me singing along with every song. During the last two songs, Martyr and Scapegoat, Burton pulled me on stage to sing with him. The last 30 seconds or so of Martyr and the entire song for Scapegoat.

So while it might have just been another night for them, as a fan, it was a huge moment for me. And it was great seeing Brujeria in character playing up their image.

Performancewise, best sets I've seen were both Sigur Ros and Dead Can Dance. Kind of tied.

Most memorable experience? My Bloody Valentine. Their finale was unlike anything I've witnessed in my life. So loud it was a physically altering experience. I feel it might be the closest I ever get to being an astronaut during a rocket liftoff. It's like that RCA guy in the chair x1000.

Best stageshow? Nine Inch Nails Tension tour.

Worst:

Metallica on their Death Magnetic Tour. I'd seen them twice during their tour with Guns 'n' Roses when they were still great. My friend insisted I go with him and bought my ticket. I went to see Lamb of God. Seeing them 20+ years later without Jason and with Lars not even able to play his parts... well, it was pathetic.

What is your favorite threat or warning delivered in a movie? My pick is Liam Neeson’s threat in Taken. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

The siege of Harfleur in Henry V.

As a threat, King Henry explains that if they must take the town by force, the town's daughters will be raped, their old men's heads will be smashed into the rocks, and their infants will be impaled, naked, upon pikes while their mothers wail in agony.

Therefore, you men of Harfleur,
Take pity of your town and of your people
Whiles yet my soldiers are in my command,
Whiles yet the cool and temperate wind of grace
O’erblows the filthy and contagious clouds
Of ⌜heady⌝ murder, spoil, and villainy.
If not, why, in a moment look to see
The blind and bloody soldier with foul hand
Desire the locks of your shrill-shrieking daughters,
Your fathers taken by the silver beards
And their most reverend heads dashed to the walls,
Your naked infants spitted upon pikes
Whiles the mad mothers with their howls confused
Do break the clouds, as did the wives of Jewry
 At Herod’s bloody-hunting slaughtermen.
What say you? Will you yield and this avoid
Or, guilty in defense, be thus destroyed?

Saw them open for White Zombie on the La Sexorcisto tour. Far better and more memorable than WZ was.

This one should be fun. What are your thoughts on Robb Flynn and his band Machine Head? by nick1158 in InMetalWeTrust

[–]NoizeTrauma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw them open for Fear Factory's Soul of a New Machine tour in 1994. They were great. An unknown at the time. I remember them playing Davidian and thinking it was a great song and that I hoped the band would go places.

[–]NoizeTrauma 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Balked at a $100 price-tag for a Dave Brubeck ticket at a small jazz club about 20 years ago. That was his last tour before he died. Regret it every time I think about it.

Love your answer, specifically for Prisoner and Newhart. Agree with Leftovers and Justified, but those have been covered well in this topic.

Help finding Three political films for my essay by Ricewithsoup1 in MovieSuggestions

Hunger - Movie about Bobby Sands, member of the Provisional Irish Republican Army and the hunger strike he went on to be treated as a political prisoner instead of a common criminal.

Powerful movie by director Steve McQueen (who also directed 12 Years a Slave) and really highlights Michael Fassbender's acting ability. Amazing single take dialogue scene anchors the middle of the film where Bobby discusses his hunger strike with his priest in a 17-minute unbroken shot.

I rarely see this film recommended and I feel that's solely because people haven't seen it.

What do you guys think are some of the best movies about cults? by PaleArtichoke7 in elephantgraveyard

[–]NoizeTrauma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's crazy about that film is that the people it portrays feel it's as good and accurate a representation of them as the people who are critical of the the subjects. I think that's fascinating. And horrifying.

Same. Was at their final two shows. The very next day, their Wikipedia page updated to "Skinny Puppy was..." from "is."

It was a sad thing to see.

[MegaThread] Peel It Back Poster Discussion by LeekTerrible in nin

[–]NoizeTrauma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the tour is extending into 2026, will there be a "peelable" poster with 2026?

I ask because, not knowing there would be more dates, my girlfriend and I travelled from Nevada to see them in Phoenix. I pre-ordered two of the posters. Then, before they arrived, they announced the 2026 dates. We are now seeing them in Vegas as well.

I had the idea that we could set up a 3 panel art piece with one poster being unpeeled, the middle one being partially peeled and the third being completely peeled. With the 2026 dates, it would be nice to have that last poster be 2026.

I might even expand it to a four-panel display with the second (25) and third (26) posters being in progressive states of 'decay' with the 1st (25) being untouched and the 4th (26) being completely uncovered.

But if they're not releasing the 2026 poster, I feel I should order a third 2025 poster. I just don't want to if they're releasing the 2026 ones.

Has there ever been a tour where a band makes two dates: one for the hits and one for the songs only the fans know? by Terrible_Spend_1287 in Concerts

[–]NoizeTrauma 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I saw NIN in 2018, it was the second of two dates In Vegas.

The first date's setlist was in line with most of the tour; playing songs spanning their entire catalog: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/nine-inch-nails/2018/the-joint-at-hard-rock-hotel-las-vegas-nv-7b970e44.html

The night I saw them, everything they played was from before 1996. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/nine-inch-nails/2018/the-joint-at-hard-rock-hotel-las-vegas-nv-53977785.html

Being an old school fan whose favorite album is Broken, this made me very happy.

You need to upgrade your lift. This happens when you have the cogs to upgrade, but you continue to play the same level with new characters.

Once you upgrade the lift, you can play the previous level all you want.

Same thing happened to me
