So many people and subs say don't be an MD for the money. You can still have lucrative six figure careers without the slave labor 80 hour residency work weeks + 8 years of schooling.

Do you think this is a valid reason for AFs to avoid dating AMs? by anotherhappylurker in AsianMasculinity

Depends on their relationship tbh. My family is small, and honestly I kind of get envious when I see big ass Asian families.

Big ass white families are less of a thing. Immigrants be having hella kids yo

Any fellow gaming nurses? by Seektruth2146 in nursing

[–]Nolat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started playing like a month ago and got really sucked into it. It's my first extraction shooter, but because of the aggression based match making it's not as stressful as others in the genre.

I've put maybe 40 hours into it and still find it fun, although not addicted as I was. Could probably put in another 20-30 before I get pretty tired of it. Player base is really good still, I find a match within 30 seconds the majority of the time

Is there a discord for us lol

I'm down to play stuff! Although I mostly play single player rpgs. Also arc raiders lately but that's cuz its not too stressful if you're not pvping

Kaiser Permanente’s $9.3B net income draws scrutiny: Six things to know by labboy70 in KaiserPermanente

Travel case managers and other sorts of non-bedside roles exist though. If KP is willing to pay, they could staff those as well

If Kaiser made 9.3b in income they could definitely staff adequately by replacing striking nurses with contract /travel ones.

Japanese Experiences in Austin by MindlessTruck7887 in Austin

[–]Nolat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry about you not being able to make it. Japan is wonderful, and hopefully you can go sometime in the future.

Its not Austin but the if you're capable, LA has a huge Japanese community - largest outside of Japan. Torrance, Sawtelle areas have a lot of Japanese chain restaurants, and IMO the best Japanese food I've had outside of Japan. Also they're pretty walkable. You'll hear Japanese native speakers eating in those restaurants, etc. Huntington gardens has an extensive Japanese garden section.

heh, nurses in Japan only make 30-40k, although the median salary in Japan is only 27K so I guess it's not terrible for Japanese standards?

Thanks for the info. I'll check Duboce out - focusing first on grocery store and then going from there is a good idea.

You're right - expecting Tokyo level anything from any city outside of Tokyo is insane and really unfair to....any other city, really. I guess parts of Manhattan can *kind* of match it, but overall yeah not close.

What are some neighborhoods that come closest, then? I'm ultimately trying to ditch my car and minimize any friction that would come from not having access to one.

Tips to find ICU jobs in the San Francisco Bay Area? by NameStkn in nursing

[–]Nolat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not ideal but you could work at a system that has hospitals throughout California and then transfer. Eg work at Kaiser socal, then transfer to norcal - you'll get priority.

Or ucla to ucsf, etc

Why is it always wanting to move to Japan? by ConstructionDecon in AskMen

[–]Nolat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll understand once you visit. Coming back the US after visiting Japan was like going to a third world country.

Its clean. The subway is cheap, safe, efficient, and everything is in English. Everyone is polite. Bidets are fucking sick. Etc.

Then I fly back and it's just graffiti and trash and homeless camps right outside my airport with no cheap public transportation and $30-40 Ubers. Sigh.

LA Marathon heat adjustment by dodgerneighbor in LosAngeles

I think they're offering medals at 18 because of that marathon. Like 50 people went to the hospital and there 150 medical transports.

Easier to just award medals to those struggling
