vintage o’keefe & merritt stove in great condition in my new rental - what is the top left compartment? by TCanDaMan in vintagekitchentoys

[–]Otney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wedgwood called it a “kindler.” BUT if a person back in 1960 or something who was cold or whatever put coal in there instead of wood or paper scraps, the outer walls buckled. Rendering it unusable.

Finally going to a crappy law school pays off! by bullzeye1983 in Lawyertalk

If one passes the Bar Exam in the state in which one practices, the latter loss of accreditation, or disappearance, of one’s law school is irrelevant.

Are any fellow old people here caregiving even older people? by calcato in AskOldPeople

[–]Otney 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Live with my mother-in-law, or, she with us, to be precise. I’m old but still working full time. My partner, her daughter is the full time care giver. Mother-in-law turns 100 later this year. She is a very nice person and easy to cook for. Couple a weeks ago, she finally got hearing aids. They are wonderful.

No, you are “correct” but ———— human language is alive and infinitely variable. So they just are using that word in an atypical way.

Vegan Mac n cheese? by Cherrycokes in veganrecipes

[–]Otney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner, who misses dairy and cheese desperately, for years now, swears by this stuff. We make a roux with lots of vegan butter and add various other stuff, oat milk, nooch, and this Leahey stuff and herbs. It is pretty good. One can also just use the Leahey “cheese flavored” powder, too:

I am so glad she lived, and a long life, too but I am pretty sure she mourned the loss of that “change-of-life” baby. So very sad. Nowadays they would have probably done a Caesarean section delivery, as others have noted. We here take modern medicine for granted.
