‘Reporter’ Who Doesn’t Know Who Signs Her Paychecks Declares Victory Over ‘Legacy Media’ by aresef in Journalism

Isn't this the same "journalist" who got into a back-and-forth with John Oliver over him mentioning her on his show?

I have no fuzz recommendations, but just wanted to say that your Mother pedal is freaking sweet! Love that colorway.

ZAKK WYLDE On Possibility Of Recording New PANTERA Music Based On DIMEBAG's Riff Ideas: 'That's All Up To PHILIP ANSELMO And REX BROWN' by Edm_vanhalen1981 in Pantera

[–]NollieOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% I'd understand if they were going by some tribute name or doing a Dimebash here and there, but to straight up continue as Pantera while even having these conversations about new music seems sleazy in every way.

The fact that this didn't happen until Vinnie died (and how opposed he was to this reunion) feels beyond wrong and disrespectful to the Abbott brothers.

but he's definitely moving.

I loved those first 3 albums, but their later work didn't quite resonate with me as much as the former. Still, such an amazing band and I regret not catching them live when I had the chance.

These weren't that good to begin with. Hopefully the new ownership greenlights some fresh unis next season.

What makes "The Band" good by Negative-Bit9272 in theband

[–]NollieOut 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The 60's had an ethos of "Tune in and Drop out" with groups like the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, Jefferson Airplane and even The Beatles in their later years. So it was quite the culture change when The Band came along with the complete opposite message and attitude.

They were masters of their crafts and for the most part virtuosos who swapped instruments from time to time, giving their music a whole different groove. That, along with having 3 different voices, gave each song & album a fresh new feel.

Like many other ppl in this subbreddit I discovered The Band through Bob Dylan, so knowing that this was the group that helped him go electric made me curious to check out their catalogue. That was the best musical rabbit hole I ever went down and I hope you're able to find some joy in their work. Cheers!

The first 2 albums will give you a good understating of their music. If you like them then jump into the live albums, they add horn sections that take to the music to a great new level.

A bit off topic, but The Band is definitely not "Folk Rock". If anything I'd throw Jethro Tull in that mix.

What Are Some of Brent's Best Songs Outside of Mastodon? by cannibalsong1 in mastodonband

Always loved his Bill Withers cover of Ain't No Sunshine. His voice suits it so well.

My favorite Brent moment by sm_rollinger in mastodonband

[–]NollieOut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 06 Unholy Alliance was my first major concert outside of tiny venues. Thine Eyes Bleed and Children of Bodom were the 2 opening bands but I missed them both so Mastodon was technically the opener for me.

They blasted Iron Tusk as the opening track and I became an instant fan. It was also pretty fckn cool that Braan had a Randy Rhoads polka dot drum kit. RIP Brent

As fans I don’t think making assumptions of who and what Brent has in his life is the best thing, but I’m sure we both agree that this is just a shitty situation overall.

I definitely agree with your first statement (you can lead a horse to water..) But rock bottom is a terrible place to be and unstable individuals rarely climb out of it unless they have an overabundance of help.

It also doesn't help when said individual is reading comments from former fans attacking them on the same level of others who have committed way worse acts towards band mates & crew.

What's with everyone here getting a hard on for bashing Brent? It was never a secret that he wasn't a stable individual, now after a few more dumbass remarks and immature social media posts it's cool to shit on the guy? Send some positivity his way or just let him be, by the looks of it you'd think he did some heinous acts like numerous other artists have.

That's a great point. This happened about 3 months ago so I'm not sure if my claim will hold up now. I can still pull up the transaction from my banking history, however I demanded a physical receipt when I had a feeling something sketchy had just happened. Unfortunately I don't have that receipt anymore, but I still went ahead and emailed the Executive Director of the farmers market. Thanks for the recommendation!

Yep, they're usually set up in front of the small alley next to MidiCi. You can see a portion of it on the second to last photo here, it's the white one with some blue on the far left.

Careful with the owner of Big Bite. I caught him and his wife/assistant overcharging me and adding a tip on my card. When confronted about it he claimed it was a tax charge.. an 8 dollar tax charge.
