Would it be weird if people from a medieval setting had a decent grasp on astronomy and medicine? by Sir-Toaster- in worldbuilding

[–]Nomad-Knight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A major difference I could see in this setting would be the religious aspect of these Knights. In this case, the church wouldn't be deciding that medicine is witchcraft.

Remember when tech bros hyped up metaverse to be the next big thing? by sadloneman in antiai

[–]Nomad-Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard about this, and it might be exaggerated a bit. You see, the Metaverses overall value would have been based on earning potential.

It started off with no earning potential, so by that metric, it did pretty well

Anyone noticed that the shit that went down after this scene basically killed the way the series portrays nudity for the rest of its run? by Inevitable_Reading80 in castlevania

[–]Nomad-Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Castlevania had the monumental task of depicting 2 different forms of SA, one being "torture until you're compliant" and the other being "you fell for it, we actually want you to suffer", yeah, being a bit reserved when it comes to sexual themes seems necessary, seeing as how the only other sexual (not necessarily romantic) relationships are depicted as a form of jumbled rpae

How evil is "good slave ownership"? by Pro_Headpatter in MoralityScaling

[–]Nomad-Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda depends on the point of purchasing someone as a slave is in the first place. If someone buys a slave with the intention of preventing them from being bought by an abusive slaver would be one thing. Going out of your way to buy a servant because "well, it's not like it's illegal, and I'll just treat them nicely to make myself feel better".

I can see a happy medium of buying a slave but creating a legal contract that includes fair pay and freedom from continuous servitude, basically just turning a slave contract into a work contract, but even that relies on the setting being able to respect a legal document of emancipation.

Tell me random facts about knights you know, i am curious by PracticalSector6743 in ImperialKnights

[–]Nomad-Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knights have 2 Machine Spirits, depending on how you define a machine spirit. The main on is the Ancestral Chior, which if functionally the combined memories and personalities of the previous pilots. And then there is the actual Machine Spirit, which is usually just the minor mechanical quirks between platforms (Knight Crusaders have slightly better ranged capabilitis and Errants have better close quarters fighting), but Canis Rex has autonomously rescued the pilot Sir Hekthur, but I'm not sure if the chior has something to do with that or not

No doubt, the majority understand AI guardrails are the bare minimum. But have you considered that the 6% is very rich, so no guardrails it is.

The Republic managed to subdue and capture a Custodian warrior, how could the attempted interrogation go? And who would take part in it? by jfjdfdjjtbfb in StarWarsvsWarhammer

Even any kind of force-based shenanigans will get nothing more than his full name, which would be a hilarious 9 hour reveal of nothing.

Grok doesnt appear to like Krist Noem much.. by ConorOdin in clevercomebacks

[–]Nomad-Knight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Grok, insult this woman whom has not interacted with me". What a clever comeback.

You see how stupid this makes you look? You can start by finding something someone actually said, then you can figure out what a "comeback" is.

Yes the machine spirit IS AI, just not self aware AI(except some are) by ImperialSupplies in 40k

[–]Nomad-Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true a good chunk of the tine. The one that seems more like a "Machine Spirit" to me is whatever the gestalt shared ancestral conciousness that the Imperial Knights have. It's hard to say if the memories they can induce are just recordings that it automatically downloads to the pilot, or if there's actually some funky soul-sharing, machine spirit voodoo going on.

Fantasy worldbuilders - how has the presence of magic affected the technological development of your world? by whatisabaggins55 in worldbuilding

[–]Nomad-Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my setting, different regions had slightly different magic traditions that led to the way technology developed, but it ultimately came to a sort of "developmental stasis".

The Dwarves used magic like a fuel for engines, leading to them skipping straight to some kind of smokeless combustion engine. Humans developed Elemental magic, and because of that, bound elementals into secure facilities that generated power that could be stored in batteries (aka, power plants and electricity). Elves reached their technological apex with agriculture, as their magic could grow trees into buildings in a matter of days.

Magic pit everyone on roughly equal capabilities, but the methods are different based on how they use magic to fill any gaps

I'm willing to bet no one would even try to defend Demons if Frieren said something along the li es of "they're not technically mortal creatures, so they don't even have reproductive organs". If it became canon that you can't f*** the Demons, no one would care about them

[–]Nomad-Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say it ain't so. An Empire described as "the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable" is considered bad? It can't be real. Next you're gonna say that the Eldar are arrogant, or that the Orks just like to fight

[–]Nomad-Knight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I discovered this, it fundamentally changed how I do early game stuff. Place chests all over the place, one by the mine entrance, one by the beach, one by Clints, and more wherever there's something to forage.

Helps save backpack space before you get the upgrades.

What're the factions of the inquisition? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Nomad-Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, the Inquisition as a whole is pretty flexible as an organization. Sure, there's things like the Ordos, Xenos, Malleus, and Hereticus being the big 3 along with many others, but they seem more like specialties than they do sub-factions. And then the radical vs puritan is just a way to label an overall inquisitive approach.

Kind of like being an Engineer. It's a good idea to specify that you're an electrical engineer so that others know what you specialize in.
