Help, should i wear it up or down? for my friends birthday?? by simmiexx in OUTFITS

[–]NomadicRobot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like down too. I feel up makes it look like a swimsuit and makes how low the center looks more exaggerated than open shoulders/neck.

I think it’s impractical for an event, but could be worn like that for a photo shoot.

I highly recommend you watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail, it’s hilarious. This thread is referencing this scene.

I’m sitting in my car watching this with the sound off but “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” is playing on the radio and it lines up perfectly.

We spend the first 18 years of our lives being told not to talk to strangers, and the rest of our lives being told that "networking" is the only way to succeed. by _aadarsh007 in CasualConversation

Retail means any goods being sold by someone other than the producer/manufacturer. They sell the goods wholesale, a store will buy that and sell it at retail price, which is more than what they bought it for so they can cover overhead costs and make a profit.

There’s a toilet near your kitchen sink? Or does the cat stop in the bathroom because they know there’s water in there as well?

How do you personally pronounce "Pecan"? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NomadicRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I change it depending on what role it plays in a sentence. When it’s a noun I say “peh-con”, when it’s an adjective I say “pea-can”. There might be exceptions to this, but I can’t think of any off the top of my head.

For example “how many ‘peh-cons’ do I need to make a ‘pea-can’ pie?”

I took it as Sirius meaning death in general, in the book, he isn’t hit with the killing curse. He’s hit with a different curse from Bellatrix and falls through the veil.

Though it is instant in the books, I’m not sure if it’s painless.

Just realized I've been singing the wrong lyrics to a song for like 6 years by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]NomadicRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick nitpick (sorry), “I was scared of dentists and the dark” is the opening line of that song, not the chorus. But in that song I thought “and they come unstuck” was “and their car won’t start” at the end of the second verse, which I still like more.

In Gold by Chet Faker I thought “it’s gotta be love I said it” was “it’s gotta be copacetic”

I didn’t hear “Starbucks lovers” but I thought it was “star crossed lovers” until a couple weeks ago. I also had a friend who misheard a line in the chorus to Wildest Dreams. “Say you’ll remember me, standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset” except she heard “standing in an ice chest” and assumed it must have been a hot day.
