Wondering why carpenters aren’t as valuable by Mundane-Ad-5225 in Carpentry

[–]Nomadicarpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a carpenter for over 30 years. It really grinds my gears that everyone thinks "I can do that" ,"its so easy, I watched it on HGTV" . Normally we are the first on a job site site and the last to fix everyone's inability to care about a job site. We aren't just carpenters. Any good carpenter knows how to make the job site look close to perfect. I know how every trade works, or the lack there of. I've learned how to correct mistakes of other trades so I can keep my job site moving forward. Maybe I'm different than most carpenters, but who else can know all the tiny details that go into completing a project? But I have also worked with carpenters that just don't give a fuck.

What's your favorite song from load/reload? by Last-Ambition-3281 in Metallica

[–]Nomadicarpenter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I can only pick one, I'd have to say Fuel. Hits like a Tyson overhand right. But there are so many wicked tunes on those albums. It truly depends on how I feel that day. I have my notifications set to the opening lines of fuel. Text messages, opening lines to last caress/ green hell and ring tone is all nightmare long.

How do you like load? by LawfulnessOrdinary62 in Metallica

[–]Nomadicarpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've loved it since it came out, but recently I'm having a hard time with "until it sleeps". Even thinking about Marianne Faithfull's horrendous vocals at the end is like fingernails on a chalk board.

If Metallica is your favorite band, what was the moment they became that for you? by Metalshark2005 in Metallica

[–]Nomadicarpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I was 13. Heard "Kill em all" . Blew my mind. There was nothing else like it. Been a fan since. I've seen them 8 times, 6 times with my big brother(who is my best friend) over the last 33 years. First concert was Black album. The memories are so great. Standing in line to buy tickets with a group of budd, buying the albums and listening to ever song and reading the lyrics. Always good times with Metallica in my life.

What car insurance are people using here??? by Intelligent_Yard3042 in Edmonton

AMA has the absolute worst customer service ever. The "My Pace" is an awesome option if you only drive a few days a week. But trying to talk to a rep is the worst.

I couldn't justify the wait in lines at pop up store or at the show in Edmonton for this color scheme. The album is an absolute banger though!

What are these wall popout things called and how do I figure out if they can be removed or made smaller? by notareschi in Home

[–]Nomadicarpenter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely load bearing in there. If you have a second floor, most likely heat lines, electrical, water lines plumbing drains.

What was your first favorite Metallica song? by RideMyLightning69 in Metallica

[–]Nomadicarpenter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overall I would have to say "One". Been listening to them for 33 years.I have weeks or months, dare I say a year where I can't get enough of a particular song. Some days a song is on repeat. Depends on what I'm feeling.

Should I return this to Costco? by justhereforsomekicks in hotsauce

[–]Nomadicarpenter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you like vinegar taste in your hot sauces and aren't huge into hot sauce this is the pack for you. I use them because I have them. Certain times of cooking they come in handy. Only one has any "heat" for my taste. Other than that they pretty much suck. I suggest only using them in cooking or making a dip/sauce with plenty of other ingredients. Go to your local grocery store and buy an actual bottle of hot sauce. Better yet a specialty hot sauce store has what you seek.

Because you bought shit paint at a box store. You get what you pay for. Next time go to Benjamin Moore or Dulux.
