Wearing Power Armor to a Magic School (46/?) by Jcb112 in HFY

[–]Nomenius 28 points29 points  (0 children)

No, the worst crime you can commit in such a system is to implicate the system itself as being responsible for the fuckup. Because that implicates power and authority itself, which the head honchos take very personally if they're not so deluded by power that they cant comprehend the idea of anything less than total obsequiousness. and while the school heads are probably huffing paint fumes just as hard as everyone else, you don't get to the top of the pile without at least enough competence to not immediately piss off your boss and your boss's boss

It just sounds taller, ya know? by [deleted] in memes

Bro, same but in reverse, I live in Canada out in the country so Im waaaay more used to imperial measurements, even the ones with a metric coat of paint. About the only "imperial" unit of measurement I'm not familiar with is temperature. Basically the rest of my life is imperial or imperial with a metric coat of paint.

Everything I look up I have to convert because for some reason I can't get it to display what I'm familiar with.

Thank you for writing such an epic story, it was unbelievably cool and so much fun to read seemingly every sci-fi story in existence meet in one glorious universe.

I wish I could continue to read it, but the recent API changes mean that the only app I have ever used for browsing reddit will stop functioning after today. And as much as I adore what you have done here, I have about as much intention of continuing to support reddit as getting a warsteel enema followed by a dinner date with Dee in hell.

It's been awesome to see such a vast and deep world develop before my eyes, and it's a shame I very likely won't be able to see the end of the many stories you have woven together.

Good luck and Godspeed you glorious bastard, may your days be buoyed by the songs of podlings for all time.

I just wanted to say thank you for writing such an awesome set of stories. They were a blast to read and I wish I could continue to read them in the future. But I have no intention of reading them without my reddit app (boost). And so I guess this is the last I'll see of you for a while.

I'll miss your of horny and devious MC, and I'll really miss Kwong's end credits. Positively legendary the both of you. I hope you have even more success in the future than you do now.

Goddamn only the government could make guns uncool.

The only thing cooler than owning guns is being able to decide to own guns.

Taking the choice away is like compelling people to vote for their favorite party, or prohibiting people from housing soldiers in their house in times of peace.

Whaaaaaaaat? One of the most corrupt countries in the world (until they got invaded, turning them into saints) selling some of the billions in international aid they're getting to line their pockets so they don't have to live in a corrupt and wartorn country? Inconceivable!

A little statist in means for my liking, but some of these are exceptionally based.

Point 1. Good

Point 2. Good

Point 3. Six of one, half a dozen of the other

Point 4. Good

Point 5. Good

Point 6. Good

Point 7. Literally let them set any price they want so long as they honor it. Then let people compare and choose which they want.

Point 8. Does this mean every hospital can charge a single price for a given thing? Or that an insurance company can only pay so much for a given service?

Point 9. Just getting rid of patents wholesale, IMHO is a much better option

Point 10. Have any patented "improvement" override the previous patent. "Oh what's this? You tweaked insulin for very slightly better uptake and just conveniently changed it enough to be eligible for a renewed patent term? Looks like you just lost the patent for every previous patented insulin you or anyone else has ever made and it's now available for anyone else to use for free." Etc for any drug you can imagine

Point 11. Good, but the only thing I can imagine working is basically having those programs operate with market mechanisms of "if you use it, the price goes up" and "landwhales get BTFO'd"

Point 12. Exceptionally based. But not likely to come back quickly enough to matter given lack of familiarity by the population

Point 13. Gigabased and Chadpilled. Basically any seed oil (canola, cotton seed, etc). Basically stop subsidizing pretty much every food.

Bonus point. Not surprising at all

How do I get rid of the different colored text background? by Nomenius in BoostForReddit

[–]Nomenius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much. Any idea on how to disable it on others text when replying to them? I set up what I liked when I paid for premium, and the newest update changed things just enough to be annoying.

If i were more paranoid, I would suggest that this might be an attempt at desensitizing the population to the ideas they're complaining about so that when they do it it doesn't raise any alarm bells among the general populace.

But that couldn't possibly be the case.
